  1. Bernie, Recheck your frame number. I suspect that it is likely to be 335195, not 355195. This would make sense as a 1921 car with the engine number being about 20,000 higher than the chassis number. Maxwell did not number their truck engines separately from their car engines, although their 1 ton trucks were separately serial numbered. Consequently, the engine to vehicle number gap increased until truck production ceased. In 1924-25 the Canadian cars were serial numbered from 900,000 up. They were also the export vehicles to UK, South Africa and Australia (taxation benefit).
  2. Pat, The roadster appears to be a 1922 with smooth top fenders. The chassis serial number should be stamped on top of the front cross member, close to drivers side rail, and just behind the radiator. It should be in the 337,000 to 355,000 range. The engine serial number is located on drivers side of block, close to the water inlet. The engine number, for this year, will be approximately 15,000 higher than the chassis number. The sedan chassis is 1925 based on the steering box and column. The front engine mount should be on a small transverse leaf spring. The chassis number should be stamped on the lip of the rear cross member, close to drivers side frame rail. It is not always visible - due to exposure and rusting. If it is visible it will be in the 476,000 to 540,000 range. The original engine number will be about 35,000 higher than the chassis. The dash panel in the other picture is for a 1923-24 car. 3. This is a 1913 Flanders model 50-Six. It was marketed and sold as a Maxwell 50-6, by the newly formed Maxwell Motor Co. Body was blue, with grey wheels (black striping) and black hood and fenders. Equipped with Gray and Davis electric lamps, generator and starter, as well as cigar lighter and trouble lamp.
  4. 1919 Maxwells were serially numbered 239823 through 266800. The first edition of the 1919 Instruction Book is dated August 1918. The first edition of the 1920 Instruction Book is dated July 1919. 1917 models were numbered 113259 through 193800. Hope this helps. Dave
