1. Be sure to check the ballast resister while cranking as this will drop the voltage to the points to a point you get little or no fire from the coil. I had the problem with a 34 Ford some years ago and did the same as you until I checked the voltage from the resistor to the points. The worn distributor shaft will effect the timing of the spark more than anything unless it is worn so much the points do not break. Just another idea from a old collector. Dave Woodson Trenton, Mo.
 2. I just finished a 29 President FH 4dr which had no wood for patterns. It a matter of finding a vehicle to photo and measure then take a piece of wood and remove everything which doesnt look like what you need. I wood be glad to help you with anything I can as I took lots of photos as I was building the wood. one thing to remember is all the wood was made by local carpenters in many cases they did it there way. Also the metal skin was put on after the wood frame was finished. E-mail me at davesbsi@grundyec.net Dave
 3. Thanks to those who have looked. I believe the problem has been solved.
 4. help I need a spare tire carrier for a 19" wood wheel found on 29 and 30 FE series. E-mail davesbsi@grundyec.net
 5. Mark I had the unit on my 29 President done as Phoenix Restorations. John Berry is the man to takl to. They have a web site www.phoenix.angelcitys.com . I did take about 3 months to get mine done. They did look good when I got them back
 6. I have been wondering about the filter on my 29 President. I went to all the trouble to hand build the dicast conector on the filter only to figure that these were dealer installed and to be thrown away and replaced with a new unit on occasion. I now know to paint the one I have and plug the conector I made. That is what makes this site so valuable. Thanks Dave Woodson
 7. Dan
If you haven't solved your problem with coluum levers it is my understanding that someone has been reproducing these in brass. I don't know who but you can make these out of plate steel. It takes some time and some basic tools and some time. It took me about 12 hours. Only thing I had to go by was the crumbled remains which I put together like a puzzle on duck tape and then cut the bases from 1\8 plate, the stems and thumb handles from the same then welded them together then on a belt sander took away all the metal that didn't look like the picture I found in a parts manual that I have.I do have a drawing I made of each with diminations to make them function. Someone out there must know if they are reproduces cause I know they all broke.

I have been laid up lately due to back surgery and won't be working on my car for at least 3 months. About the only thain I can work is my mouth and my mind. They both have a tendency to get me in trouble.
Dave Woodson
 8. Gary Nolting
I have not tried to mount my carburetor back on the engine as that is still several months away. As for the oil pump I do plan to replace the housing with a brass unit which is available form Lional Stone. Would be interested in talking on the phone sometime or even visiting in person. If interested Email me. I am at kpresent restoring a 29 President FH sedan for 5.
Dave Woodson
Email davesbsi@grm.net
 9. I also have problems with uu2. Have worked mine over but have not tried to start my car yet. It is very brittle and some parts were JB welded where moisture had gotten in the bowl. I would be interested if the price does not exceed the value of the rest of the junk which I hope to be able to drive some day. My car set for 40 years outside and most of the interior and wood ran off on the ground. No hill for a stepper.
dave woodson
