  1. Happy Shaint Patty's (hic) Day.............Bob
  2. Some times "conveniently"........ Best to just "Ask the man who owns one."
  3. As did I. So the destination was worth the journey. I'm pleased to hear that..............Bob
  4. Somehow I think you are located in PA. If so Bloomsburg Metal in Wilkes Barre carries sheet steel both hot and cold rolled from 10 to 26 gauge. The hot rolled is pickled and oiled to remove the scale. They sell in small lots ( single 4 X 8 ) for PU at facility. Looking at your fenders I'd think something like 14 gauge. Just sayin..........Bob
  5. I bought several cars from Mass with only a notorized bill of sale that PA recognized and issued a title upon payment of PA sales tax. My impressikn was PA is aware of every states title laws and accomodates accordingly.... bob
  6. Interesting. Here in PA a few years back i bought a new $50,000 tractor from a dealer. It came with no title. I traded in a tractor at that time, dealer didn,t ask for a title......bob
  7. Ah yes. What a wonderful and brave new forum it would be. Free at last of the trouble makers expressing a difference of opinion or suggesting a possible improvement to the status quo. Why should there be change? ............"We've always done it this way." The forum will then be free of contrasting views and expressions of minor discontent. We can then all resist urge to think and question. Secure in the knowledge that others always know what is best...................Bob
  8. Hot rolled usually has surface scale and not as smooth of a surface. The scale is very hard, abrasive, and hard to remove..justsayin......bob
  9. The question was posed as a generality. I certainly wasn't referencing any specific, anticipated, or proposed lash up. Like I said, I find the idea interesting and I was "just asking"...............Bob
  10. Interesting. What would the new chapters obligations to the aaca both financialy and administratively be. For instance could they still enforce membership limit criteria or would they be required to accept all comers.......just asking.....bob
  11. Paralysis by analysis....And so it goes........bob
  12. Of course you are not. All the more reason to post the rationale for a deletion. Agreed, except in keeping with your previous quote I would insert the words "an interpreted" before "forum rules violation." All I'm doing is pointing out a way forum user relations might be improved. As chief moderator you can consider the merits and feasibility of same or blow them off out of hand...............Bob
  13. Not being a computer programing expert it's an unfair question to pose to me. As my flight simulator examiner used to say "you don't have to be a chicken to judge an egg". I'm only pointing out a need to improve moderator/user relations. Forum management does, or should, have the ability to formulate a practical method of addressing deletions to everyone's benefit. I agree with you but do you not agree that "best" could still be made even better? I do make the right thing assumption. Please don't confuse less than laudatory comments with enmity. That I was led astray in my earlier remarks on the OP's deletion was the result of seeing a perfectly useful and rule compliant post expunged without rhyme or reason. A simple "deleted by OP" remark would have negated the present foforall and eliminated any thoughts of deleting "just because we can". I do consider your respectful comments. I hope you in turn will grant me the same courtesy..................Bob
  14. Granted..... The problem arises when the rules are interpreted differently by different moderators. What one may see as acceptable another may see as a reason for deletion. Posting the reason for the deletion would not only be informative it would make the "foul line" a lot clearer. That alone should reduce the number of future fouls. I,m guessing there is way to devise a practical method. The only question is if there is the will to do so.........bob
  15. Understood. I,m not concerned about self deleted posts as much as moderated posts, threads that are summarily deleted with no stated rhyme or reason. We often hear of the moderator,s side and the slings and arrows they must endure. I actually understand the difficulties of trying to please everyone. But I would like to make the point that the posters and users of the forum also have skin in the game. Spending time and effort to write a post or a reply only to have it summarily expunged for an unstated or little understood reason is to some extent humiliating and seen as a slap in the face. I suggest the moderation crew give this some serious thought......bob
  16. I see. Perhaps just closed to further posts with the reason for same. Just vaporizing a thread with out a trace or explanation for reasons that may not be obvious or appear capricious is just not good user relations practice. It often comes off as arrogant. I,m just sayin..............Bob
  17. Some of what you say I understand and agree with. The reason for deletion could be the same as this threads "moved" notation. That said I don't think a moderator sould be required to answer any rebuttal. I further think that any member's questions/comments regarding a deletion would be useful in gauging the quality of the moderation and most importantly the forum members overall satisfaction. IMO other than my premature reaction to the deletion, allowing a reasoned discussion on the workings of the forum can only be useful to all concerned.........Bob
  18. First, thank you for not vaporizing this thread. I used the word's "evidently" and "suppose" to account for possible, other than moderator, removal. Here, It seems that IS the case. So while I do admit to having a bit of egg on my face I continue to think that the moderation is at times a bit over done and many deleted threads would be better left to follow their own course to a natural conclusion. Since a reason for a deletion and by whom is almost never given a post is generally the best way to communicate. I realize that moderating any forum is difficult and I assume thankless but I also believe a simple reason given by a moderator for a deletion would go a long way to avoiding unnecessary heart burn. In this instance "Deleted by OP" would have worked fine. I agree WTF is crude but it was posed as an assertive question not an expression of criticism. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and letting this thread continue in it's proper place.......Bob
  19. The OP asked for help in adapting a splined sproket. The advise and help offered was directly relatable to the stuff we do on and for our old CARS. Very good advise was given by forum members anxious to help another forum member work on his CAR. Evidently, and I suppose, the post did fit not someone's rigid framework of propriety and so was expunged. Evidently members giving time an help solving a problem that would benefit any number of forum old CAR guys was of little to no value.......WTF
  20. I might add for no good reason.............Bob
  21. Wasn't there a baby boom when the shifter went from the floor to the column?...........Bob
  22. S**t. .....that,s the way all my old cars idle.....bob
  23. The amusing part of this entire thread is that forum management is now wallowing in, and actually adding to, the mud while trying to sound both rightious and above it all. What a hoot. I,ll be right back. I,m going to make some pop corn.......bob
