  1. Bob...ever wonder if that "Minchinbury Champagne" advertising sign in the upper left had anything to do with the wreck?
  2. No problem with that. Where I was most of the time Charlie had no access to banks or a PX.
  3. Agree that it doesn’t matter. I put published my name, town and state in my profile. Why? If someone wants my car it would be easy to find: 1-All AACA meets have the owners name, city and town on the windshield cards for everyone to note, or 2-of course Google, or 3-someone could easily follow any of us home or to your motel after a meet or, so on. Nothing is totally secure. Looking through my Army days things a few years ago I started laughing when picking up my old “2” sets of dog tags. Sharon asked what’s so funny? Reminded her how everyone is constantly told to hold your social security number in extreme secrecy. In the mid-1960’s our serial numbers were re-issued with our social security numbers by the Dept. of Defense and stamped clearly on the new dog tag.
  4. Well said, Greenie. Reminds me of the CEO of the company I retired from in 2017. We were having dinner at his vacation home in Desert Mountain, Arizona back in 2009. We started talking about staying profitable which we were doing a decent job. In closing he said "Do not ever be afraid of making money". Thanks for posting about Macungie. Sorry I missed you today. Had a great time to include great food.
  5. Simply because the purse was bought online from an out of state company. I used an American Express credit card. Paid the exact amount without paying PA’s 6% sales tax. Was notified by PA that I owe $3.30 tax. I am retired claiming Social Security and must pay Federal income tax only. Sent PA the return along with W-2s and check for $3.30. PA started to aggressively go after online sales and the rest is history.
  6. Corrected my above post, Mr. Beck. To add more detail the $55 purse generated a whopping $3.30 in sales tax due. The time to fill out a PA tax return, plus postage was hardly worth it, but, thems da rules bud.
  7. Glenn...this has been going on for quite awhile here in PA. Also it has been all over the national news for quite awhile. In 2018 I bought my wife a $55 purse and paid for it using American Express only because it was a Philadelphia Eagles logo item. When I had my taxes done in 2019 the preparing folks informed me that the only reason I had to file a PA income tax return was because of the darn $55 purse purchase. (Retired folks here in PA do not normally have to file a PA tax return. Only Federal.) Oh well, so be it... As for the AACA and Antique Automobile magazine I believe they are exempt as they fall under the 501c3 Non-Profit umbrella. Hemmngs is a for-profit company.
  8. That must have been quite an experience, Bob. How did it ride and handle? Peter J.
  9. Craig...you should post in what area you are located. It would certainly help to keep shipping costs down for you plus I would think a personal meeting would be forthcoming. Here on the East Coast there is The Wickery in Toms River, NJ. Ironically one Wayne Carini, host of the tv show "Chasing Classic Cars" was at the inaugeral Car-Mania car meet on the grounds of the AACA Headquarters in Hershey, PA. (About 2 weeks ago I viewed an episode of Waynes wherein he was restoring a Jolly and featured the people doing the caning. (Google Wayne Carini and also the Wickery for info).
  10. Sharon, I sent Eric a PM. See the "Other" VEERAC thread. Just a tip. You do not need to run 2 threads on the same subject. Just causes confusion and potential for missed messages.
  11. I just sent Eric a PM (personal message) bringing this to his attention. He last checked in on the forum this past July 12th.
  12. Karen, if all fails contact our (AACA Library & Research Center) at 717-534-2082. Not sure if they still retain the SPAAMFEA collection. The collection of their Fire Fighting equipment archives is rather large and they entrusted our library to house it. or...About - SPAAMFAA - Society for the Preservation & Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America Never know. Peter J.
  13. Peter...you sure look a lot better since the last selfie you posted after that bike accident. Earl Scheib did a great job finally.
  14. Jeff, are you offering a room to JRA? If not could you at least advise him if you recommend York Area motels / hotels? He is from Brazil and a newbie to Hershey.
  15. Anyone have a photo of the teacher's car or any parent's cars?
  16. No way I would ever use any of these TV auctions as a realistic price barometer. Barrett-Jackson prices for one is driven by a bunch of BUI (Bidding Under the Influence) bidders.
  17. I prefer the relaxing sounds out of my old Sub-woofer. Emits the relaxing sound of a German Shepherd on a Submarine.
  18. Ed. Attached is the link from the 2022 AACA Policy & Procedure Manual. (From the home page open "Publications" dropdown) Chapter 5.7.3 which give you the specifics. Pay attention to the bold letter wording: Policy & Procedure Manual | Antique Automobile Club of America (aaca.org) When the Board discusses the Grand National Meets it is an "issue" but discussing what if any regions / chapters may have requested to host, or, financials, or, possibly none have asked to host, or, many other subjects. 20. Never met Dr. Simeone. However I followed all of the posts and comments made on this forum over the years plus, his major cooperation and partnering with the AACA and our Library enormously. Yes, it is sad that he was taken from us, however, he was enjoying to the hilt his automotive passion. We should thank the Lord for giving him to us and our collective hobby. Peter J.
  21. Nice talking with you today, Peter. Glad I thought to refer you to Terry. Did you receive the contact I sent via PM on Proper Noise Restorations? As I mentioned they are located here in Mt. Penn and all they do is restore sportscars. Regards, Peter J.
  22. One thing for sure there is no way I am going to start calling “motels” engine-tels or power plant-tels.
  23. I find this very interesting, Marion. Cannot ever recall seeing these numbers for about 48 National and Grand National meets that I attended over 24 years of attendance. Often wondered about it. Regards, Peter J.
