1. I was out jet skiing in a lake in Indiana over 4th of July week and saw one of them cars in the water. What treat to see something like that?

Would that have been anyone of you? The car was red.

There was also one at a local car show two years ago that was parked next to my car (31' Packard) it also was red. Wonder if that was the same car I saw in Indiana?

  2. I have not had a chance to work on the car. We are in the process of finding a contractor to build/add on a garage to the house. Hopefully it will be completed by the end of October so I have a place to store and work on the car.

There is one thing I have to say to my wife is thanks for agreeing on adding an additional garage.

  3. Jack,
A blank tape can't cost your more then $3.00 from Walmart.
3 hrs to film. What is the car not following what the producer wants it to do.

  4. Was looking on ebay and found this
"If you want to see the car first and you are the high bidder, I will hold it for you for a non refundable $1000 fee. I can also do a video (VHS) for you for $50.00 and postage."
What a scam $1000 fee to see what your buying!!!!
Tom

  5. PackardV8,
Per the owners manual it is a 320 cu.in. I can see that the rear valve springs are missing some pieces.
What I’m going to do is replace all the springs just to be safe. Any leads on where I can get a valve spring
compressor would be much appreciated.
I will also be dropping the pan, which was recommend by the person (a very nice and pleasant individual to talk to) I talked to on the phone last night to clean it out and check over the crank and pistons.
Do you all think I should pull the head as the service manual states to clean the carbon off the valves and pistons?
Thanks,
Tom

  6. Pulled the valve cover this morning to check valve clearance and you would not believe how much slug I found in there. While cleaning out the slug I pulled out a piece of metal and at closer inspection I found the two rear valve springs broken. What amazes me how/why the car still runs?
Please any advice on where I should go from here will be much appreciated?
Should I bite the bullet and due a Rebuild or just replace the springs?
Thanks
Tom

  7. Pete, I should listen and installed the pump when I was under the car on friday. Thanks again for all your input. Guess we all learn the hard way. Hopefully my wife (Sue) will still go for rides???
Tom

  8. Well went for a ride with the wife (Sue) to the nephews soccer game on Saturday and guess what the mechanical pump failed. Sue and I had to walk home a few miles. Drove back with the other car took the electric pump (which I should have installed on Friday) and some tools. Removed in-line gas filter installed the electric pump and wired it straight to the battery. Car fired right up.
My brother came over Saturday evening and helped me install the electric pump onto the frame rail as close to the gas tank as we could. Put the fuel filter upstream of the pump ran new 5/16" copper tubing from electric pump to the mechanical pump (which I will pull apart someday and rebuild it). Wired the pump to a toggle switch, which I mounted under the dash.
Tom

  9. Update. I finally had a chance yesterday to drop the gas tank and Guess what there was and small crack in the line where it bends out the top of the tank. I soldiered it up and so far so good. The mechanical pump works fine. I will keep the electric pump and install it if the mechanical one fails.
Tom

  10. Jim-TN, A friend of mine said the same thing.
It has been a busy day today was Umpiring Beep Baseball for the blind. I will keep you all posted on outcome of the problem.
Thanks
Tom
