  1. Some progress on the rims. Have then stained and first cost of Satin Spar Urethane. In a day or two I will lightly sand them with 220 and then put another coat of Spar Urethane but that coat will be gloss. Once I have the wood portion finished I will tape them off so I could sand the metal portion, epoxy prime, a few coats of SPI Single Stage Black and they should be ready for tires which I still need to order. First two picture are without flash last one is with flash. Attach file: <hr noshade="noshade" size="1"> RIMS_COMPRESSED.jpg <small>(146.84 KB)</small> RIMS

  4. A few updates. Last few weeks I have been stripping wooden spokes on the rims and staining them as I go. Will take some pictures soon and post them. Today I received the Trunk Rack Lock Knobs from the machinist that my brother works with. The one on the left are the new ones. What he did was tapped the center and made a screw that can be threaded in to it to hold down the locking part. The last picture is from Kanter as you can see the difference on the assembly. One would need to peen over the end thin rod to hold the locking part in place.

  6. I will be attending as a spectator anyone else here going? 44th Annual Father's Day Classic Car Show - Oakbrook Center , Oak Brook, Illinois
  7. Alan, Thank you very much for explaining your procedure and posting pictures. They sure do help us see and understand on how the stems are assembled to the tubes. I gathered you tested the tubes for leaks before you installed them? The stems for the wheels on my car come out straight per some of the old manufactor pictures I have seen. Sure hope when I order mine I don't have issues with them. Please keep us posted on how yours hold up.
  8. Alan, The tubes for my car also call for the nickle plated stems. I am curious on where this stands with any manufacturer? If the nickle stems just don't work I will resort in just purchasing the tires with the rubber stems. Authentic or not it would probably be our best bet. I have been watching this thread also http://forums.aaca.org/f169/inner-tubes-beat-goes-323894.html
  9. Restorer32, Please PM the company name so I don't go through the same thing when I go to purchase mine. Thanks
  10. Mark, This is such a small world I think I know who you are. When I worked for my stepfather at Ray and Tom's (RAT's as we us to call it) they would buy their parts from Brookfield Auto. Did you not work for Brookfield Auto at one time?
  11. Mark, Different Joe. He is Joe M. from Bolingbrook. I am not sure how long he has been involved but he said he really enjoys being part of it. I am not sure what day he was planning on attending but I had mention to him that I would like to tag along with him. Will let you know what day and look forward to meeting you also.
  12. Was on the phone the other day talking to my friend Joe and found out he is involved with Brushmasters he is one of the artists. I am hoping to make it out to the Show to support him and the work of others for this wonderful auction/event they do.
  13. Matt, Purchased mine from Narragansett Reproductions - Wiring Harnesses and antique car / automobile restoration supplies. The quality was great, price too. Came with easy to read installation instructions.
  14. I wanted this car but it was way past my budget  1970 PONTIAC GTO JUDGE Lot 1015.2 | Barrett-Jackson Auction Company
  15. Hi Dave, I purchased mine from here www.runningboardmetaltrim.com and was very please with his service.
  16. Mark, Check here. Classic car headliners, bowstyle (sewn panel) headliners for antique cars. You will see my coupe picture under the 1930 to 1934 Packard 2 door Coupe replacement headliner area. I had asked for quotes about a year or so ago and they used my car for the measurements and picture to add to their site. I can't vouch for their work because I am not ready to purchase it yet.

  18. Hi West, Upon research I am leaning towards the Lesters for the touring - road worthiness. Our beloved Packards are meant to be driven are they not. So with that I need to use Universal tire since they carry the Lesters. Can you please thank your brother for offering his service. And thanks to you also.
  19. West, Just received a reply from the vendor in Chattanooga. I was looking to see if they carried the Lester brand in my size which they don't. They however do carry my size in either Firestone or BF Goodrich. Would you know if with one of them brands are a decent tire?
  20. West, I am waiting for a reply from the tire vendor and will let you know. If it a go or no go. Thanks for checking with you brother and thank him for helping me out. Jan 1. the good old toll road is raising the rates almost double for I-PASS and cash is more then double
  21. West, I am in no hurry car is up on stands anyways for the winter so that time frame would work. Any idea on cost for him to do that for me?
  22. msmazcol, That does not sound to bad. Will need to check into that. Thanks
  23. I already mailed out the check for renewal and I also order the 75th book at the same time. This was before I received my Nov/Dec issue which I just received earlier this week. Am I ok? Thanks
  24. I am looking for price to have some tires picked up from either Universal tire in Elizabethtown Road Hershey, PA or Coker Tire in Chattanooga, Tennessee and delivered to Woodridge ILL. Open to any dates. Thanks
