  1. Des, I respect your staements and understand your national pride. Howevere there are two points I would like to make . Not in an attempt to stir the pot but just to set the record straight. In the years prior to our entry into WW II the Roosevelt administration did supply arms and goods to europe and the British Isles under the lend -lease agreement . Granted we did not supply any troops but we did supply some of the neccesary materials needed so that England could continue to fight. By doing so we put our merchant marines at risk running the gauntlet through Hitlers U-Boat blockade of England. Some were killed when their ships were torpedoed out from under them. Even though they were flagged as U.S. vessels (at that time a neutral country) The U boat commanders knew whatwas going on and torpedoed U.S. as well as British merchantmen. Also U.S. pilots flew with both the RAF and the Chinese airforce prior to our involvement in WWII on a volunteer basis. These pilots could have in your words "hid across the atlantic" but they chose not to. I honestly cant remember what the name was for the pilots that flew with the RAF (Im doing most of this response from memory) But those that flew in the pacific for the chinese were known as the "Flying Tigers". Dan
  2. Doug I understand where you are coming from. Right now I have 2 cars the 77 Buick and my 73 Pontiac convertible. I dont have any immediate plans on selling either one of them. My soon to be 14 year old loves the 77 and I have already promised it to him as a college graduation present . The Pontiac is my retirement plan. I want to take it and drive whatever is left of the original route 66 when I retire in about 20 years or so. So that one isnt going anywhere anytime soon either. Patience does pay off. It took me almost 7 years to find a part I needed for my Buick but I eventually found it and now its on the car. So if this guy thinks his pitted , busted old grille is made of gold .... let him think it is , and go find yourself a nicer one for a better price. Dan I dont think thats a starlite car. Looks like too many trees in the parking lot and whats with the multi color building in the background ? Also in the background on one of the pics is a 59 Buick .... I dont recall seeing any 59s locally ...... a lot of 60s but not any 59s. Also I dont recall seeing any markings on the poles at starlite as to what row your in etc. I mean I could be wrong but .......... Dan
  3. My father also served in WW II, he also doesnt speak of it much. I went out to dinner with him last night. He was also in the pacific theatre and I also thank President Truman for the decision he made. My Father served in Bangalore India and Im sure if operation Olympic would have gone through that many many soldiers could hagve been killed and who knows with my Father already serving in the pacific how things would have turned out. Thank you to all our veterans. Dan
  4. Keith I honestly and sincerely hope you are right. Dan
  5. This is a valid point. IF this guy gets close to the money he is asking for this car , does it drive up the price of other 58s ? And more importantly does it drive up the cost of 58 parts ? And if it does , will we see the middle class car owner (read guys like me) squeezed out of yet another classic car? I understand the frustration here because I have lived it. Along with the Buick I used to own Mopars. Notice I said used to own. At one point in my life , along with the 77 Buick, I owned a 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst, a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger , and a 1979 Chrysler Cordoba 300. I loved them all and never would have dreamed of getting rid of any of them. But it was the cost of parts and repair that eventually drove all 3 of them out of my garage. The Hurst was and is a rare piece and I was told that mine was 1 of 3 ever made with the particular option package it had. I knew it was going to be expensive to maintain and repair. But what I didnt count on was the popularity of Mopars taking off the way they did and seeing the cars go from "cruisers " to "investments" . I wanted the Hurst repainted and some body work done, there were some complications and to finally get everything right again (after the Mopar boom) the body shop man literally said to me it was going to cost well over 100K to get my Chrysler repainted and put back together. Before the boom the same guy wanted 15K to do the same work. Needless to say the Hurst never got finished. It got traded away in a strange deal that eventually landed me my Grandville convertible.... and Im happy with that. The Cordoba needed a lean burn computer. Some POS that Chrysler cooked up in the late 70s. Just try and find one !!!! and if you do find one throw your wallet at it , then throw your checkbook in right behind it . A used grille shell alone for that car was $650 ten years ago!!!! I put an old style points distributor in it and sent it down the road. But the most amazing of the three was the Dart. It needed a map light switch and the fender mounted turn signal indicators were pitted. I was told that the map light switch with a little modification could be used as a road lamp switch on an E body (The holy grail of Mopar parts and car prices ) and that what was originally a $5.00 part at the dealer (box still had the price tag on it ) could be mine for the bargain price of $200. So after that heart stopper I went looking for the fender indicators , none were being repopped and I found a set of NOS ata place called Laysons restorations. I also discovered these were interchangable with the mighty E body price raper. When I inquired the guy literally asked me what my yearly income was , and if it was below a certain level (which it was ) I would have to finance the parts and if I didnt want to do that , then somebody else would !!!!!!!!!! So I FULLY understand the concerns that current 58 Limited owners have over this car . If somebody pays this price,it may make the car they already own.... unaffordable. Oh and I have a 77 Limited , I know its not a 58 , but it is a Limited ...... if this 58 sells for the asking price do you think I can get maybe 50-75K for MY Limited ??????????? Dan
  6. My wife and her Skylark at the Pgh world of wheels show in 2007. Which is also where the picture below was taken (see the littler Buick hiding behind the big one ?)
  7. A friends mother had one back when I was in high school. It was a 2 tone like this one but it was in green . She was also the librarian at our high school and he had keys ...... so we used to steal it at lunch time and go get food or smokes or go joyriding or take girls with us for rides (insert evil grin and arched eyebrows here). This one was a V6 and had no power whatsoever. His mom was an easily upset woman and Ill never forget I took it one day to go get cigarettes and somewhere along the way I must have hit a bird with the Century. She come out to get in her car after school and a dead bird was sticking out of the grill of the Century. We attended a rather large high school (approx 2000 students spread out over a several acre campus) and I can still remember hearing "Harriet" screaming from clear across the school parking lot. I ran across the lot to see what was the matter and when I got there and saw the bird sticking out of the grill and the absolutely shocked expression on my friends mothers face I couldnt help it I busted out laughing. My friend caught 7 different kinds of hell for it and she confiscated his keys to the Century. I guess you just had to be there but Ive started chuckiling just thinking about it . Dan
  8. My sympathies go out to Johns family. I met John one time several years ago at a BOD meeting in Hershey. At the time his Wildcat was wrecked (and apparently it was an everyday driver) and his ride had left without him. Myself and a couple of other chapter members had attended the BOD meeting and we just so happened to have my wifes conversion van. So we offered John a ride home. Since it had been a rather long meeting and we were all hungry we asked John to pick us out a place to eat. We stopped at a pizza shop and had a nice couple of hours of conversation. It was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing weekend..... the BOD meeting had not gone well for us, but John had turned an otherwise bad day into a good time. we laughed and had a good time , also the pizza wasnt bad either. If I remember correctly that night we made John an honorary member of the National Pike Chapter. Goodbye friend Dan
  9. Yea and the brand on that horse is KK. Or maybe its BCA but all I can say is I hope all you geniuses are as infallable as you believe you are . You better be right , if you want to stay in your posts , cause your people skills sure as hell arent going to keep your posts for you
  10. You know Kevin I really dont know what you want from me. Now Im a lurker ????? With well over 400 posts and membership on this site since September of 01 How can you actually with a straight face sit there and accuse me of being a lurker. What exactly do you have to do to NOT be considered a lurker in your world. Should I quit my job , abandon my life and sit on this site 24/7 and answer EVERY post that comes up ? Would I then no longer be considered a lurker in your eyes ? In all honesty and Im really NOT trying to stir the pot , but I think there is a wire crossed in your thought process somewhere. Seriously. I CHOSE to stop posting for a while because frankly I was getting tired of bullsh*t like this. I was getting tired of trying to help this club , you know crazy things like actually trying to come up with an idea to help increase membership that the BOD asked each of us to do only to have it shot down, ridiculed and generally made to feel like I was an idiot for even trying by the very same people that asked for my help in the first place (I.E. YOU!!!!! and the rest of the BOD) . And I have to put up with crap like this as the result of trying to do my part ? I chose to stop posting , not stop reading . that was my choice to make and if you dont like it ....... I suggest YOU step back from the keyboard for a while If you think Im just going to roll over and agree with you ..... dont hold your breath on that one. Dan
  11. I am one of the above mentioned price complainers. However I have never judged anybody elses cars as unworthy. Hell my 67 Skylark has a big scrape down the side and lord fobid my Pontiac has (oh god im so ashamed) PRIMER on it . I still take them out , show them and enjoy them , and I also have the 67 listed in the BCA and the Pontiac has had me join POCI. I have seen many "less than perfect" Buicks and have tried to recruit them all. If anyone remembers back to the Opel thread I was one of the supporters for allowing them into the club. And now that I think about it I have been hands down the BIGGEST complainer about trying to recruit at the current club dues . So Im afraid that this dog just wont hunt Buick5563. The only Buick I really dont like is the 75-79 Skyhawks and thats due to bad personal ownership experiences. Those are about the only Buicks I would avoid. I agree that this is beating a dead horse , god knows Ive left enough whip marks on it . Its time to let it go. We have stated our case and have been told to shut up and MYOB. Thats what we need to do right now. We have been asked to help save the BCA but in truth what we were really asked to do was to just agree with whatever we are being told is being done to save the BCA. Discounted dues , Members at large , electronic bugles, opening up the club to Opels these are all ideas that those in charge have decided will not work , (even though they havent given them a try ) and there is nothing in heaven or hell that is ever going to change their minds. To say or do anything else to change their minds is just wasting your time and your electricity. Follow my lead and give up !!!! youll sleep better and in the end you will have the ultimate weapon , you will have the I TOLD YOU SO Time to go back to my self imposed banning from the site !!!!! Dan
  12. Ive finally calmed down enough to return to the forum after Paul Syrdals highly insulting comments concerning my chapter. Im here only to let you know that I am going on a forced vacation from this forum until such time as I can rinse the bad taste from my mouth. It took a lot , and I mean this seriously, to keep me from hopping into my evryday and driving out to have a "discussion" with Mr Syrdal. As far as Im concerned what happened to the National Pike chapter was one of the greatest injustices this club has commited in it 44 year existance. Add the following information , I was the chapter director who spent my entire 2 year term trying to undo that injustice. Emergency chapter meetings , often held at my home, endless hours on the phone with the National office , board members and Paul Meyer(then BCA president) putting much more time in on the chapter than most chapter directors. In the end I won out but at even this late date it may have been too little too late for the former NPC. To have a non chapter member like Paul Syrdal shoot his mouth off about things he knew nothing about, threw ALL of the little red switches in my brain. In my younger days I spent many a night as a guest of the county cause I couldnt haul my temper back into check. Its not anything Im proud of , but it does happen to be the truth. To me that chapter was and is the BCA and I dont mean to insult the rest of you but outside of what is now the Pittsburgh Tri-Shields the rest of you are just names on a website. The Tri-shields ARE the BCA to me and I will not let anyone demean this chapter. There are a few people on this discussion board who will remain nameless that have learned this the hard way. So as you have probably guessed by now that between recruitment problems (which I know have been beat to death) the trishields struggling and my Buick currently being broke down Im not exactly having fun here and that last little bit of dung more or less sealed the deal for me. So to keep from getting myself introduced to some form of Minnesota law enforcement I have blocked any and all of Mr Syrdals future comment and will give myslef as much time as needed to get my head back on straight before returning to this forum. See ya on down the road ......... maybe Dan
  13. That turbo Lesabre in the Bugle keeps sending me to the bank to check my balances. I would LOVE to have that car I dont care if anyone else thought it was collectible or not. And although its not a Buick a 77 Pontiac Can am would also be VERY welcome. Dan
  14. Hes pretty dedicated to the 77 so Im thinking you might have to go to great lengths to get it out of him. For some reason he has really made an attachment to that car. I think if I sold it I would need a "food taster" for the rest of the time he lives under my roof . We are going to try to pick up the 98 next saturday and get it over here so he can start the process. Dan
  15. Took the Pontiac convertible out to my friends shop last Friday to do some tinkering. This is a plumbing shop complete with all the supplies to run a modern plumbing business plus a 2 post lift , paintbooth 2 project cars torn apart and every automotive tool known to man. Sometimes I swear the plumbing is just an excuse to have the garage. Anyway back to the Buick part of the story. Jared (plumber) has a 98 Century sitting beside his shop. It was his sons first car. Now its my sons first car. Tim is now a Buick owner. It wont be official until he is 18 (5 years from now) but it will be in my name while he works on it and until hes 18. It needs a lot of work and hes only 13 so that will give him 3 years to get it into shape. Im hoping that if he spends his own money on it and turns his own wrenches that maybe he will treat it a little kinder than your average 16 year old does. I dont think he will be joining the BCA just yet. Not to harp on an old subject but right now at his age and with the work the car needs thats $50 that can be put to better use. Im not saying he wont ever join the BCA , after all hes eventually going to end up with my 77 also but for now anyway hes got other priorities and I think hes probably too young anyway. Dan
  16. Yea go ahead Roberta..... shut it down. Theres nothing more to be gained . Ive got the distinct impression that the following has happened. A certain amount of people may think Im right (but obviously not enough to raise a groundswell against the dues increase ) A certain amount of people may think Im wrong. A certain amount of people feel Ive overstepped my bounds by questioning the board of directors that I helped elect over what direction they were taking the club that I pay dues to. My thoughts on that arent printable. A certain amount of people have called me on the carpet for airing the clubs "dirty laundry" on the clubs forum . Im curious as to just where the hell else they expect me to air my grievances or contribute my input concerning the operation of this cub but thats a whole other angry thread and frankly ..... theres nothing to be gained by it at this point anyway. And lastly Im to blame for somebodys thoughts because I left them a blank to fill in and they didnt like theyre own choice. Thats a cross I guess Ill just have to bear. I obviously cant control the minds of others , if I could the dues would have been lowered and this thread wouldnt have happened..... so mind control is definately NOT my game. I cant stop what words come into the heads of others and if that causes them to lose respect for me ...... then I guess that respect is lost ! I still dont feel justified in asking people for $50 for a car club membership ... especially since most others are $35. I cant get the dues back down to what I feel is a more reasonable number. So I guess the only thing I CAN control is whether or not I ask people to join. That is apparently the only thing I can control. So I guess Ill just have to control it. There we go ........ problem solved !!!!!! I dont have to worry about it anymore . Will the last BCA member kindly turn out the lights on your way out . LOCK ER DOWN Roberta Dan
  17. Okay here it is . I speak the way I speak ...,.take it or leave it . The signature at the bottom of my post is EXACTLY how I feel . This is me and in this particular case it is take it or leave it. Im not going to change who I am to protect somebody elses delicate sensibilites. You dont like the way I speak or type dont listen to what I have to say or dont read what I type. Thats your choice to make and I wont deny it to you ...... dont deny me my choice to speak the way I feel either. Im not angry or ranting Im just stating plain fact. After reviewing my posts in this thread the only name calling I can see that I have done is I called one person "Man" and I called Joe Taubitz .................Joe Taubitz. I apologize for calling someone their given name .... what could I have been possibly thinking ? I said and I quote "as long as your doing bonehead moves like that" I didnt call you or anyone else a bonehead . I said what you were doing was a bonehead move and to put it quite frankly .... I STILL THINK IT IS The tally of renewed membership new membership and unrenewed membership was my idea ........ the very first post in this thread . The reason I suggested it was that I do feel Im right about the dues increase ... I see the damage it has done with my own eyes ...... I am a recruiter anybody in my chapter will tell you that. Now you can say Im wrong you can say wait lets see you can say its worth it to you , however, everything your saying is flying directly into the face of what Im witnessing. Now ask yourself this, should I believe what your telling me or should I believe what I see happening right in plain sight in front of my own face ? Put yourself in my position and ask yourself which you would believe? I dont need to see anymore . I know the answer already , but maybe if this tally was in the bugle every month a few of you would get your eyes opened to the suicidal course this club is currently on. We MUST recruit I do believe Ive said that before (somewhere in between spouting profanities and insulting people by calling them by their given name) without recruitment the current financial problems are not going to end . Does anybody here really believe the Bugle is going to get CHEAPER to publish in its current form in the future? Does anybody believe that as membership declines their dues are going to go down ? Does anybody believe that with less membership this club is going to get cheaper to run ? Does anybody believe that when the dues inevitably get raised again due to rising costs and declining membership that more current members wont leave and that the new members page wont get smaller ? Does anybody really think we are going to increase membership (which is the only solution to the financial woes) by raising the price ??? Does anybody really believe this ridiculous load of (fill in the blank). Oh and thats another thing since Im on the subject ....... the implied profanity. I cant remember just who exactly scolded me for that. But let me point out something you may have missed. YOU filled in that blank not me . You could have just as easily thought darn or drat or tarter sauce or boohoo or any one of a million other replys . You chose whatever word you thought I meant. That came out of your brain .... not mine. I knew what I wanted to say but I couldnt so I left it blank on purpose. Like I said earlier Im comfortable in my skin I know what I was thinking and Im sure a few of you did too HOWEVER you filled in exactly what you thought that blank meant and then when you found out you didnt like it .... you complained to me !!!!!!! NOT MY PROBLEM ! Sorry if you dont like me ...... but then again I dont recall asking you if you did . Dan
  18. If you don't WANT to be a BCA and local chapter member, fine, but anyone who says they can't afford $50 a year for dues to support everything the BCA does, shouldn't own a vintage Buick, as they are known to be rather expensive to maintain........ It's a drop in the bucket compared to ownership costs. And this is coming from a guy who has been unemployed for 5 months, has 2 kids and is STILL planning on attending the Nationals. (thankfully, it's only 9 hours away this year). Is anybody actually reading what Im typing before they reply? Sorry man but your missing the point .....COMPLETELY. This isnt about me or you or what its costing us... were already in and not only am I already in Im trying like hell to get others in too. And thats where the problem lies ..... getting others in. Your willing to spend what your spending even though your unemployed and thats fine for you. HOWEVER if you werent already a BCA member and still unemployed for 5 months and somebody asked you to spend $50 of your last unemployment check plus whatever the cost of a chapter membership to join this club you know nothing about .... Ill bet unemployment checks to donuts you wouldnt spend the money. Thats the point Im trying to make to you and others on this board . To ultimately fix the problem we MUST recruit new members . Raising the dues like what was done has taken a job that was already tough in this economy (recruiting) and has made it that much harder. What about that is so (fill in with expletive of your choice) hard to understand ????????????????? Dan, So, what I gather from your reply, it's my way or the highway-I don't give damn what others think. Sorry Dan, the board members have to think of the entire club and what needed and still needs to keep it running. As it has been stated many times, this was not an easy decision and we knew that here were going to be some unhappy people. If the dues were not raised, the club would have run out of money, pure and simple. We are looking into ideas to lower costs ( many good ideas came from the forum )and hopefully there will not be another raise in quite some time. Your idea of lowering the dues simply will not work. Face it, that is reality. The BCA was a sinking ship, the dues raise was plugging the holes. Now we are starting the bailing process. I do not think that we are "doing something wrong". No its not my way or the hi-way . In fact that seems to be what Im getting told, not the message Im trying to send . In fact your reply sounds more to me like " We raised the dues and if you dont like it dont let the door hit you where the good lord split you".Well I dont like the fact that you raised the dues and as a dues paying member of this club I CAN and WILL tell you that every chance I get . And if you cant handle that then maybe you should try to get out that door without getting hit> You dont OWN this club any more than I do you REPRESENT it and YOU have made a mistake .... a bad one and if you cant see that then maybe you shouldnt be on the board. HOW DARE YOU TELL ME I DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK MY PIECE CONCERNING A CLUB I SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY ON . Who died and made you the only voice to be heard in this club ? The truth of the matter is YOU not ME has made it harder to recruit for this club . YOU not me have caused long time members to say it just isnt worth it anymore. This is the 2nd time Ive more or less been told to shut up and frankly youve got a better chance of waking up tomorrow with a solid gold bar stuffed up your nose than you do of shutting me up. Your idea of raising the dues will not work . Not without fresh blood and youre not going to get fresh blood by raisng the price of admission. Thats fact plain and simple and if you cant see that ..... God help you. As long as you keep doing bonehead moves like this, this will be a constant subject on this board until the last person leaves and shuts out the lights. And the more you raise the dues the more people are going to head out the door than in it which of course will cause another dues increase due to declining membership:rolleyes: You dont think youre doing anything wrong ??????/ Well I guess we will see whos right . Oh and before you start bailing .... you better get a bigger bucket. Dan
  19. Look I never said I didnt like the club . In fact even though I ***** about dues increases .... Im still here arent I ? Ive met some of the greatest people in the country in my chapter . True friends that will help you with anything anytime you need them . If i have a problem with what I see the club doing I as a member have a right , and if I really care ..... a duty to point that out and try to correct it before it does damage. Now in a few posts some people seem to have a problem with that ........too damn bad heres a quarter call someone who cares cause I sure as hell dont . I think the last dues increase was a bad idea and Im not shy about it now and I wont be shy about it in the future. I know its just my opinion but I do believe that when weve gained only 22 new memberships in the last month the facts just may be backing me up. When youve got a guy who bleeds Buick like Joe Taubitz telling you "Its too rich for my blood" YOURE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. When Ive got perspective members saying its too much to join ...... YOURE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. When your new members listing goes from 2 pages of small type to half a double spaced page of larger type ..... YOURE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. Someone suggested that if I didnt like the way things are being run to run for the BOD. Gee.... never heard that one before:rolleyes:. So Ill reply (once again) to that the same way I have replied the umpteen times this has been suggested before . I must attend board meetings to hold a position. Problem number 1.) I dont like to fly . I cant think of a reason good enough in the world to put my fat butt in an airplane seat. Which leads to problem number 2. Problem number 2.) I get exactly 8 vacation days a year. I work. Im not retired , Im not wealthy and I dont see retirement anywhere in the immediate future. Most 46 year olds are in the same boat. So after referring to problem 1 does anyone here really expect me to take what olittle vacation time I do have and spend it driving to a place where I get to sit in a room for an hour or two and then turn around and drive back home again cause I need to be back to work ? As have stated in the past if anyone really wants me on the BOD that bad then heres whats going to have to happen : ALL BOD meetings will be held in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. ALL BOD meetings will have to be held on the weekends . Advance notice MUST be given as I do frequently work on saturdays. The other alternative would be to hold them after business hours during the week. Now if all of you who feel Im not being fair by criticizing the board of directors while not joining the board of directors are willing to accomodate the needs listed above then Im your man !!!!!!! If not then I guess your stuck with things the way they are now. Dan
  20. The last time this subject came up I gave an idea as to how to change it and I got more or less told I didnt know what I was talking about and one BOD member told me that maybe I was in the wrong club. I gave my idea ....... and it was dropped and forgotten as soon as the post slipped from the front page. Its somebody elses turn Dan
  21. Im not gloating , Im not even happy that Im right . Im very concerned. Did anybody notice the new members list in the latest Bugle ? 22. The premminent Buick club in the world and last month we got 22 new memberships. Three of which were from places outside the U.S. That means we got 19 new memberships in the U.S. One half of a page double spaced at that covered our entire list of new members. When I joined 9-1/2 yers ago (yes I still hve the bugle that listed me as a new member) it was a full 2 pages long single spaced and in much smaller print than it is now. I recruit every chance I get, so do most of our chapter members. We have always been a small chapter and at one point recieved an almost fatal blow to our recruiting from a past BOD so we are constantly on the lookout for new members. You have a Buick anywhere near a member of my chapter you are going to be solicited about joining the BCA. So far we havent had what you would call a stellar year for recruitment . Why ? Because we are getting told and I quote one failed potential member "It sounds nice but its just too damn much money to spend on a car club." The membership dues for my chapter are 10 a year so where do you believe the problem lies with making it too expensive ? In the chapter dues or the national dues? I think we all know the answer to that. And nows the time for the I told you so. I told you so. Repeatedly. Its too hard to get people to shell out money for something they think they might like in this economy. I would like to see a new feature in the Bugle that may help give an idea as to the problem we are facing. Lets take the other half of what used to be the new members page and keep a running month by month tally of the member ship. List the current membership number add in the new membership number and then subtract the amount of members tha didnt renew that month. Im sure the main office could supply that info to Pete Phillips on a monthly basis ( even if its a month behind) so that the membership and the BOD can get a feel for the pulse of this club. It would give us all a direct tangible result of things like dues increases to let us know whether we are taxing ourselves into prosperity or rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Im pretty sure I already know what were doing (and I would really like my chair over there by the lifeboat station please) but maybe if we all saw it every month in black and white it would cause us to come up with better ideas or maybe get some BCA members who think its the other guys job to recruit to get to work themselves. I know Im probably wasting my time but I at least have to try. Pleas take following posts to tell me what a bad idea this is and why the hell would I suggest it or even tell me that maybe Im in the wrong club. Then when the dues go up again to punish the members who decided to stay for the others that just didnt think it was worth it anymore........ think about this post Dan
  22. I dont know if this is happening more lately or if Im just starting to notice it more. But Ive had this happen to me several times since the weather got warm and after yesterday the next one that does it just may get dealt a dose of road rage. Your driving along on a multi lane road with what would be considered a normal distance between you and the car in front of you .Next thing you know some @#%&head comes up and squeezes in between you and the car in front almost causing an accident causing you to jam on your brakes . The immediate fear is the guy behind you hitting you so out of reflex you look in the rear view ............ and there is NOBODY frickin there. Theres nothing behind you but air ...... enough room to land a 747 behind you and this ******* has just come up and jammed his way over in between you and the car in front of you. Are they ignorant or just plain frickin stupid ? Yesterday Im out in my 77 Buick on a 3 lane section of I-79 outside of Cranberry PA. The right lane is a merge for the PA turnpike the far left lane is for passing Im in the middle ........ with out a car behind me for at least 1000 yards . This peice of @#%& in a black HHR comes barreling up the passing lane squeezes over in between me and the guy in front and then since the merge lane is going slow ....... he slows down to about 10 MPH to merge into that lane ......... I was doing $%^&*#@ 70. I swear on my mothers grave that if I didnt have some place to be by a certain time (hence the 7o MPH I was doing) I would have got off at that exit and literally dragged that idiot out of his car and did my absolute best to hospitalize him. He risked his car his life my car my life and lives and vehicles of anyone else who would have got caught up in it with an ENTIRE empty lane behind me to use to merge into the right lane with. And this seems to be happening(or Im noticing it ) more and more lately. And the more it happens the less tolerant Im getting with it. If your one of the people its happened to you know how I feel , if your one of the people that does it.......... STOP before you either hurt yourself or someone else or before the last person you did it to drags you out of your car and beats the S#$t out of you. 23. My son loves my 77 . Hes 13 and considers the 77 as HIS car ...... not mine. So I worked out a deal with him. I will keep the 77 in its current condition and it will be his upon: A.) His graduation from College. Yea I know its a long way off but hey Ill use any motivation I can get. B.) My Death. This may be a better option for him than the college thing. Im not exactly the healthiest guy in the world and my job at times can get incredibly dangerous. (Have you ever climbed down onto an ice covered barge on an 8 degree day ?) So one day Tim will be the proud owner of a Buick thats 20 years older than he is . Dan
