  2. 1927 Buick Woody Wagon? I didn't think Buick made woody wagons before 1940. Do you have pictures you want to share?
  3. OK, I have to ask. How did you get the car up on the drums like that?
  4. It looks like you had great weather for a Buick show. Some very nice Buicks, as well. What fun.
  5. My wife doesn't comment much one way or the other about my Buick hobby. She just jumps in whatever Buick I decide to take. Her enjoyment comes from the Buick people and the wives who have become some of her best friends. While I look forward to seeing the Buicks and talking to the owners, she enjoys the shopping and conversations with the women. If she shows any interest in owning a Buick herself, it would be a 1970 Yellow GSX. She always comments on how she would like to own 'one of those.'
  6. My friend has a 1998 Park Avenue and asked me to post this for her. After disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it, a strange problem appeared. The A/C for the drivers side works fine in that is blows cold air like it is set to do. But the passenger side and the back seat blow hot air like the heater is on for them. However the controls are all set the same, set for cool air, etc. I'm thinking the battery being disconnected had nothing to do with it but it is just too coincidental to rule out. Any suggestions on where to look? Thank you for your help.
  7. Great looking car! I thought 1971 large Buicks and Rivieras had louvers in the trunk lid. Am I mistaken on that?
  8. I agree with Thriller and Mr. Earl. This car has a lot going for it. I don't think the price is out of wack for the vehicle. The low mileage is a definate plus. With that few miles, you are pretty certain you won't be rebuilding an engine or suspension for a while. One more note to add...the owner has done a lot of the clean up work, which I think adds a lot to the value of the car. Not only can you clearly see the car, both positives and negatives, but you have to consider the amount of time and effort you would be doing yourself had he not done it.

    1967 GS340s

All 1967 GS 340s were originally either white or platinum mist, with red stripes along the bottom of the body, a GS hood with red hood scopes, simple hubcaps, and the plain Special interior with vinyl bench seats, rubber floor mat (no carpet), no arm rests in the rear, etc. They had a GS badge on the front grill and a GS340 badge on the rear quarter panel to identify them. Of course, they came with the 340 CI engine, painted red. They are neat cars due to all the special features mentioned above and not too common. They were commonly called 'the poor man's GS'. I wish I still had mine.
  10. Speaking of Grand Nationals....can you imagine the excitement a 'retro looking' GN would have on today's market? Every retro model is selling successfully. Examples are Mustang, Camero, Charger, Challenger, etc. The styling of a 1987 GN would be a perfect fit with a few modern changes, smoother lines, and so forth. Now that would get a younger crowd interested for sure. I still get excited when I see what's under the hood of those GNs and T-Types. What a great looking engine. There's nothing like that out there now.
  11. I can verify that Wildcat62 is correct. The electric windows in my 1961 Electra operate without the ignition being on. I crack them open all the time by merely opening the door and hitting the switch.
  12. Don't you just love the interior/exterior color combinations you could get then? The combinations are almost unlimited. Brown exterior with green interior. It looks like someone tried to paint the top of the engine to match the interior. Love the three piece back glass, too. Good luck and, above all, have fun.
  13. OK, I have to ask......How does one go about locking himself in a trunk? I assume there weren't a couple of guys throwing you in there.
  14. You need to call Frank Lyle, event chairman. Email me at rfaries@verizon.net and I'll send you his number. Or you can look in the Bugle under the Technical Advisors list for 1958 and his name is listed there.
  15. Charles, Now that you mention it....I was so shocked and surprised to win the Literary award. Once I sat down, I realized I should have taken the microphone for a second to recognize you, the man who put the entire event together. I merely wrote about it, but it would have never happened without your efforts. I apologize for not announcing you involvement and giving you the credit you deserve.
  16. We'll miss you. I enjoyed sitting with you and Rita at the banquet in Seattle. Try to make Iowa next year.
  17. I want to go with Brian! My drive up from Texas is boring, boring, boring. I'll be in my 1991 Roadmaster Estate Wagon.
  18. Derek, what a time to buy a 1959 Buick! Just before the Nationals. You will get to examine over 30, (yes, I said 30) 1959 Buicks and speak with their owners. You'll be in B59 heaven. What model did you buy?
  19. Looking back at this, I think we all can learn something. Perhaps the situation could have been minimized with more frequent communication between the hotels and the BCA. By the time we found out they had so many rooms over booked it was too late to do anything but start moving people around. I bet this will result in closer monitoring for future meets. That's a good thing. Also, this forum reaches a lot of BCA members and this probably should have been discussed sooner. I'm one to blame for this because I knew about it sooner than most and didn't post anything. I guess I was hoping it wouldn't grow as large as it did. I apologize for that. Live and learn.
  20. jscheib is correct in his speculation. I was not directly involved, but I have talked to people involved. As I understand it, The BCA had two contracts, one with each hotel, for a guaranteed number of rooms. The BCA is on the hook for a substantial payment if the rooms are not booked. It was discovered a month ago that the Crowne Plaza was continuing to accept reservations after our contract obligatiion was fulfilled. According to the contract, the Crowne Plaza was supposed to recommend the Double Tree after our block of rooms was satisfied. A month ago, the Double Tree was no where near booked and the BCA would have been billed a large amount for the unbooked rooms. A decision was made to move people from the Crowne Plaza to the Double Tree. It was supposed to be date related, where the most recent reservations would be moved first, but I am not sure exactly how the ones were chosen at this point. Letters were to be sent out to everyone moved. Please do not blame the BCA for this mess. In all the years I've been associated with the Nationals, this has never happened before. Contracts were in place to handle overflow situations. The Crowne Plaza was not doing what was agreed to. The Crowne Plaza has moved people back upon request, but everyone moving back to the Crowne Plaza might put the BCA at risk by not fullfilling the contract with the Double Tree. The Doube Tree is across the street from the Crowne Plaza and there will be a shuttle bus running back and forth continuously during the meet.

Thanks, Centurion. I never knew that, and quite positive I've never seen one.

    A 1969 Buick Special with a straight 6 engine? Something's not right.
  23. My experiences with Wallace Wade Tires are just the opposite. Living near Dallas myself, I have ordered various tires from him over the years for my Buicks, from a 1941 to 1966. I have a set of wide white walls now on my 61 Electra that I drive all the time. I have never had any issues with him or his products. He also made sizable donations to both our BCA Nationals held in Texas in 1996 and 2004.
