  1. 1960 BUICK HEARSE/ AMBULANCE Fixable, 1 of only 68 made, solid, straight, nice int., must see. $6,500 W/COFFIN DICK LYNCH WASHINGTON COURTHOUSE, OH (740) 333-6611 http://www.auto-rv.com/default.asp?area=browsedetail&adname=59-91777 www.auto-rv.com had an 82 Buick Hearse and an 88 Cadillac Hearse as well.
  2. Are the left side tail lights as bright as the right side tail lights when you have the lights on? If they are dimmer sometimes the bulb sockets get corroded and need replaced. I think they're 4-5 bucks at the parts store. If they are as bright then I doubt if a corroded socket is your problem.
  3. Hello, Sorry if this has already been posted, but I hate to see these cars get crushed. I'm not a Packard person, but thought I'd post this here in case anybody's interested. I got the info from the Lincoln board. Check the auction if you need to contact the guy, this is all I know about it. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Here's the deal... Due to circumstances beyond my control, these Packards and Lincolns are about to be crushed. There're 105 Packards, from 1937 to 1957, and 86 Lincolns, from 1937 to 1974. A portable crusher is coming in here Monday, March 22 to turn history into scrap metal. I don't have anywhere to put these things, or I'd save them myself. To the hundreds of people who are waiting for me to pull parts for them: I'm sorry. I have almost no time to fool with this stuff at all, and as it is, I'm way overloaded. If there's any way you can come and pull the parts yourself, they're dirt cheap. As for whole cars, after the scrap guy gets his cut, they should be worth about $50 each as scrap, so I'll have to get a few bucks more than that for this to make good business sense. All this week I'll be getting home about 6:00 Eastern Time and I'll be here all weekend except for Sunday morning during Church. Come whenever you can. I'll help load cars at 3:00 in the morning if I need to. This is quite possibly the largest collection of Packards in the country, and I really hate to see them all destroyed. Feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks. </div></div> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...item=2467266939
  4. On my 70 Skylark I could smell a gas leak when the tank was full. Turned out the seal on the gas cap was bad. I bought a new cap and haven't had any problems since. Cheap and easy.....
  5. Don't have one for sale, but I got a reproduction one from eBay. Most of the pages are so faded you can't read it. I also got a service manual on CD Rom. It's nice because you can zoom in on an assembly to see how it fits together which is nice, especially on small pieces. The bad thing is you can't do a search on what you're looking for and sometimes it's tough to find. Best bet is to find an original assembly manual, IMHO. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Just my .02
  6. I had to right click on the link and do a "Save As" and saved it to my local machine.
  7. Terre Haute is where I got my car. Look familiar? I forget the guy's name, but he lived way out in the boondocks. BTW, the Holley problems may be an isolated incident. I'm sure others have had fantastic results. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Brian

If you want a used or rebuilt, these guys are supposed to be good: Carburetor Exchange (317) 423-7979 1302 Shelby St Indianapolis, IN I put a new Holley on my Skylark, it had better performance than the Qjet, but I couldn't get it to idle very well and had a couple other problems. I put the Quadrajet back on. The Holley was around $300 from the local part store (I think, been a few years). Brian

  10. Here's the format I used, but take away the asterisks. [*image]http://home.insightbb.com/~baking/buicksmall.jpg[/image*] Looks like you're doing it right, but some places like Yahoo! and HP's photo hosting won't allow links to their site. Your ISP probably has web space allocated for you to use. Looks like with the new software you an also attach a file to your post so you won't need to host it on another server. One more thing, and I just learned this on this post. With UBB I thought the image tags had to be like this: <span style="font-weight: bold"></span>. Apparently you can now use the <span style="font-weight: bold"></span> tags.
  11. On my 70 I removed it from the firewall. If I remember correctly I had to take the bolt all the way out instead of just loosening it. I assume the 67 is similar. Make a note (mark) on how the shaft is oriented so you match the same splines up when you put it back together and your wheel is not crooked. baking
  12. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Some of that stuff is also available aftermarket through places like www.ringpinion.com (Randy's Ring & Pinion), </div></div> I had VERY bad luck with Randy's Ring & Pinion and would stay away from them. I upgraded my 10 bolt '70 Skylark to an aftermarket posi. I still have the old differential with the ring and pinion. Probably won't fit your car, but it's free for shipping costs if you or anyone else wants it.
  13. Can anyone tell me how to remove the bezel on my 93 Roadmaster estate wagon so I can remove the radio? Is the bezel just held on with clips, or are there any screws that need removed? I tried to find instructions online but was unsuccessful. Thanks for any help, Brian
  14. Well, it's fixed. I think the problem was with a bulb. It never occurred to me that just because it would light that it means it's good. Since they're dual filament one of the filaments could be dead and it'd still light. Also, the ground had a little rust, but didn't look too bad. Anyway, I replaced all the bulbs, cleaned up the ground and life is good. Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.........
  15. I looked at it tonite. Removed and cleaned all the sockets and bulbs one by one with no difference. I disconnected the tail light harness from the main harness in the trunk. Every connection on the connector in the tail light harness showed continuity. I pulled the harness out and tested again to see if a wire was rubbing the chassis, but it's still all shorted out. It got late so I will dig into it deeper this weekend. Thanks for all the help, Brian King
  16. I'm going to assume the bulbs are correct since I've had the car about 3 years and no turn signal problems. I pulled 2 bulbs from the driver side tail light last night and the socket looked pretty new. However, I will check all of them tonite when I get home. Is there an easier way to get at the tail light bulbs? I took the screws out of the tail light, but it didn't budge and I didn't want to force it. The only way I could reach it was from underneath the car up behind the bumper. My arms are too fat and short. Thanks for the tips!! Thanks for the help.
  17. On my 70 Skylark convertible the turn signals have started acting up. When I use the signal the front lights work correctly, but on the back both tailights will flash. If I hit the brakes the brake lights come on, but the driver's side is dim. I pulled each bulb on the driver side but it didn't help. Is there a common area for this to short out or can someone give me some tips on where to start looking? Thanks, Brian

  21. Good information here, I have a question:<P>What is your recourse if the insurance company says "We're paying $X to fix your car, and that's it. Take it or leave it" <P>You surely don't want to total a repairable car, but with the high price of restoration parts the ins. company might not want to pay to repair it. What's the best way to fight this?<P>(I am glad this is a hypothetical question <BR> )
