  1. Hugh, Thank you for the detailed information on blocking the tube, I have not torn it apart yet but plan to too see what has been done it looks like it was done years ago. I thank you for the information and plan on asking a whole lot more. Thank you again Matthew Maya
  2. Bob, Thank you for the information on blocking off the heat riser tube, it looks as though they had the same idea in mind as the car had not been driven since 1982 and was owned at the time by a gentlemen in his 90's. As far as the tubes inside I do not see any signs of rot or rust as it is the possibility that this was done before they look pretty good. I am going to hook everything up as he had before and run just like it is as the car will remain pretty much the way I found it, the paint is pretty much gone except for a little bit here and there and the interior was pretty much gutted it shows the skeleton of the car kind of interesting. I will try to preserve everything that is there as the running gear and drive train were in pretty good shape it spent most of its life in a garage. I am really looking just to drive the car as much as possible. I will send more pics if interested and once again thank you for the information, I might have other questions or concerns as I get into it more. I am also a member of the Buick Club of America. Thank you again and be safe Matthew Maya
  3. Hello I acquired a 32 Country Club Coupe we got running but had a question in regards to heat riser. Can you shut it off?, it looks as though the previous owner had welded the pin shut and was by passing. Will it take away from performance or any hang ups it might produce? Any info would be great. thank you Matt

  13. Thank You Everyone for the advise and leads, I will look into them and hopefully have her running for spring. Thanks Matt
  14. Hi, Yes tried Egge they sent me what they thought was the correct spring for 16-22 Super six. The springs sent from Egge have a 13 winding to them about 5 inches long, mine are 10 winding at about 4.5 inches long conical they were to long. I sent Egge a sample spring and waited, I was later told they could not match it up. The spring was sent back to me. The car has been in winter storage and am getting ready to have it moved so that work can begin. I appreciate the comments and look forward to hearing more. Unfortunately I do not have a lathe to attempt the springs and was curious how the conical shape of the springs would be attempted? Thank you Matt

  18. Hello, for some reason the spring pic did not send, I will try again if not the pic is in this same category sent around early June it is under 1916 valve if anyone wishes to view. Thank you again Matt
  19. Thank you all for the information, I really do appreciate it. I am going to send a pic of the spring, please excuse the grude measurement. I am without a micrometer or valve measureing tool to tell all the exact compression ratio specifications. I was turned on to Egge Machine shop when I had a 1920 Studebaker Big Six engine rebuild. In there catalog they had a listing for a 1916-22 Super six engine rebuild kit. I called and asked the sales clerk if in fact they had springs with 10 rung as you can see for a high compression head and not the 13 rung as are standard for later models Hudsons. Just to give a little history on the car, we believe this to be an early Hudson Super Six engine, as the stamping on the block is, (A 4070) body is a center door Open Touring Sedan poss (1915) early Biddle and Smart #583 all original the car is being preserved rather than restored. I have three damaged springs, they are conical in shape at present Egge has one of the springs as an example, but at this point I am starting to get responses from car enthusiest and will retain the spring back from Egge. As far as having them made that is the possibility that I am looking at, just want to go the correct route and am willing to follow through with having them done. I am in contact with the members of the Hudson Clubs and am hoping to find some springs either newly manufactured or would be great to find NOS if poss. I know finding is a needle in a hay stack, but if you look at the car it was found in a barn notice one year ago two miles from original owner we are the third owners. I can be emailed at grnmtbyz@hotmail.com or reached by phone at 802-457-1963. I thank everyone for the response and will consider and contact. Thank you Matt and Mike Maya
