This is a picture of the drivers side of the 55 . How did you do this ???????????????????????????

Lamar, I am running a 6 1/2 " wide Buick steel wheel on my 55 Century 2dr clone with 235- 75 -15 radials . There is plenty of room inside to the frame and outside to the fender . I remember the 6 1/2" wires wheels on my 53 skylark seem to push the wheel to the fender opening. Even with a wider tire you should be OK . I might see a problem with a sedan that has the lower rear wheel opening . ???? Back in the early 60's , I run the skylark wires on my 56 special 2 dr sedan , not sure of the rim width . Bill

I see a couple 38's in this photo !!!!!!!!!!!! Bill

Buick made a 15" x 7" chrome wheel for the big wagons ( 5" bolt pattern ) in the mid - 80's , the boxy Estate Wagon. I don't think anyone is making a repop of this wheel. Bill

The dash is out of a 55 Special, no trip odom or engine turn found on a 55 Century . So for some reason it was put it after production . It would be interesting to see the body number . Bill

Thanks for the info ! I'm sure there are other Buick guys surprised to hear this !! Bill

I thought all 64 to 66 401 and 425 blocks are the same except for the bore and the code stamping ???????????? Bill

I emailed him when it was first listed on craigslist about a month ago. He was asking $16500 , I made an offer , he didn't take it but dropped to $10000. I still think that is high, it will take lots of chrome work even if the body is solid Bill

1955 Buick century 4 dr hdtp ( listed as 1955 Buick Riviera sedan) on Ebay. Low mileage but odd equipment , no power steering or brakes , no radio. Engine bay looks rather dirty for 30k miles , ???????? Bill

The only thing better then the Bugle issue is / was being at the event ! The Bugle made me feel as if I was there again. GREAT BUGLE !! One of the best I've seen since I joined the BCA in the early 70's (I think Sept 73 ). Hats off to everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill

What is an easy to remove undercoating from wheel wells and underside of floor? I'm not restoring my 55 but want to clean it up somewhat. Yes , hard work is one way ! Bill

Ed, Try this , Don't tape anything ! Trying not to do a lot of overspray but paint the areas between the spokes ( yes it will look all black or silver depending on your color) . Using a rag with lacquer thinner and the end of your finger, wipe the chrome ribs and the outer edge of the slotted area turning the rag frequently. I have done this on many wheels and it saves time. I spray one light coat then a 2nd coat when the 1st is tacky. Start to wipe within 30 second and the paint comes off very easy. Try it on an old wheel, I think it works better then tape ! Bill

Hi Doug, Yep , Thats it ! I only had to do one thread repair on the front carb mount. Offy's are not the best flowing manifolds so I did some port work so it would run better. Anyway thanks for selling me the intake at a fair price !!!! Bill
-
Beemon , Haven't figured out the progressive linkage yet. I'm thinking of making a horizontal "U" shape linkage because of the original mount on the firewall is low compared to the carb hookup. I think it will be easier to pull the center carb linkage from the front and somehow with the "U" pivot at the front go to the firewall mount ????? Fun ! Bill

Beemon, The coil is mounted to the intake on the last runner (similar to the way it was mounted on the Riviera with 2 x 4's All idle circuits intact. The original carb has the fuel inlet at the rear and it hits the rear carb. John , The fan is the original fan that was on the car. The only thing I changed was the intake and the carbs. Oh , I do have a problem with a stumble off an idle which I think is cause by the 1" spacer under the carbs and also the 1" spacer between the intake and the head , all for show and no go at this point. You can't add 3x2's to a stock 264 and expect to be plastered to the seat on takeoff !!
