  1. I hear ya! She asked the guy if he'd give her $1,000 for it and he said yes. I'm trying to talk her out of it, but most women want their husband's "junk" off the property after they die. I'm sure you've never heard of that before, right? I thought about buying it, but I don't know anyone locally that would need a parts car and don't want to get stuck with a car that has no title. I could never put it on the road without a tile. I wouldn't even be able to scrap it without a title.

I don't think it's going to be available much longer, but thought I'd post on here to see if anyone has an interest in it before it hits the derby track. Or, to put it another way, before it gets hit on the derby track!

  2. Hi all. Been in the old car hobby for 48 years, but not familiar with Rivieras. This car has no title, has the 4.1 engine, nice interior (except headliner coming down in back, lots of surface "patina" and runs very well. Exhaust looks new and tires are only a year old. Last inspected 2/22. Power windows don't work. Some rust starting to show over both rear wheel wells. 2 hubcaps missing. No trunk key. Guy who owned it died. Wife doesn't want it, but doesn't know where title is and is asking me to sell it for her. My interest in Buicks is pre-war, so I'm not familiar with the value of a car like this with no title. I was hoping I could get a little feedback as to what this would bring as a parts car. A guy wants to buy it to use in a demolition derby. It runs so well, has a nice exhaust system and practically brand new tires. I would hate to see the car suffer that fate. Any opinions would really help and be greatly appreciated. I have a total of 42 pictures. These give you some idea. Looks like mice made a meal out of some of the wiring. Not sure where those chewed wires go out of the loom.

    Thanks to you all!

    Karl

  3. Good morning and thank you for the responses, especially to you, Michael. I sent you a PM, Michael. Please respond at your earliest convenience.

John ........... I didn't mention the make or model because the two things I'm concerned about are the quality of the paint and the way it runs, both of which should be readily apparent to anyone who is a car guy. Other than those two things, I have enough info to make an informed decision. The car was repainted. While it looks O.K. in the pics, it doesn't have the high gloss luster of a quality paint job. Also, when I blow up the pics, it appears there may be some issues with the paint, although the pics get grainier the more they're enlarged, so I can't be sure. The car also has 160,000 miles and I'd like to know how well it runs and what the undercarriage looks like, since it's purportedly a AZ car living in Mn for 12 years. Those things aren't vehicle specific and anyone in the old car hobby should be able to ascertain paint quality and how a car runs, but I understand why you suggested that and I appreciate and thank you for your constructive input.

People on this site have always been very friendly and helpful throughout the years and I'm always grateful for that help. Thank you all very much!

  4. Hi one and all. Is there anyone in the Osakis, Minnesota area or nearby cities of Alexandria or St Cloud that can look over a car I'm considering buying in Osakis? It's a 1,100 mile one way drive for me and I'm not able to make the trip at this time. Osakis is about 56 miles northwest of St Cloud and roughly 90 miles northwest of Minneapolis. If you know of anyone in that area, please let me know and I'll get in touch with them ASAP. The weather up there is perfect right now in the 60's so it wouldn't involve uncomfortable temps.

Thanks in advance for your help, referrals and/or suggestions.

  5. Also wanted to thank the person who recommended Bill's Auto Transport. There's a company in Buffalo by that name, but I found the post that mentioned Bill's as being located in Ohio. I'll call them tomorrow.

    Much appreciated.

  6. My apologies for not checking back sooner.

Hola, Minnie Mouse. Didn't see you at Hershey last year.

I don't believe I can get it to Milwaukee. The owner isn't willing to do that for me, but thanks for the thoughtful reply and suggestion. If, by some flukey chance that could happen, how do I get a hold of your friend, John?

  7. I was a member of the original club and joined back in 1982 when Dave Lewis started the club. I signed up for the new club and paid my dues at the Buick Nationals in Flint, when the club was just starting to sign members. I waited and waited for the club to get off the ground and sent Gene Phillips two e-mails over the course of several months, both went unanswered. Frustrated, I wrote a final e-mail commenting on the poor way the club was being run and expressing my regret for joining it. Weeks later, I got a letter and my dues back. The letter ended by saying the club was better off without members like me in it.

After being a member in good standing of the original club and paying dues every year for almost 25 years, I wouldn't be a member of the new club if I was paid to join. I've belonged to the AACA, CCCA, Packard club, Cadillac club, VMCCA, Buick club and others over the years and have never experienced the rudeness I did with Phillips from the '36 to '38 Buick club. The old club was a very good, professionally run organization until the last editor took it over. I'm not surprised the membership is so low in the new club, considering the response I got.

  8. Hi. I'm making a trip to Rhode Island July 8th and have an 18' open trailer that I'll be pulling to pick up a car out there. If anyone needs a car delivered anywhere near the Rhode Island to Boston area I'd be happy to work something out with them at a good rate. Thanks!

  9. I have my dad's '73 Cad for sale. It can either be a parts car or restoration project. It's Firemist Green with a white roof and interior. It has 54,000 miles on it. It's rusty in all the normal places for that vintage Cad ...... around the wheel wells, inside the trunk and the gas tank leaks. I have an extra gas tank. It last ran about 15 years ago but I've cranked the engine over occasionally. The paint is weak. I don't want to scrap it because it was my dad's car and also because I'm a hobbyist and that doesn't sit well with me. I'm making a trip to Rhode Island from western NY and would like to find someone in NY, northern Pa, Ct, Ma or RI that might want to buy it as I will be able to deliver it. I'll be leaving by the end of June. I've called a few Cadillac members who own this vintage car and was advised $500 would be a fair price. If anyone is interested please let me know. Thanks!

  11. I have my dad's Coupe. It's Firemist green with a white top and interior. It has 54,000 miles. It hasn't been run in 18 years and needs restoration. The front seat was redone in vinyl. The trunk floor is rotted as is the area right around the wheel wells in front. Typical early 70's Cad rust problems. My dad died in 1977 and the car was used for a few years after that but was put away and stored inside for the last 18 years. I'd really like to see someone restore the car rather than scrap it so if anyone is interested they can post a reply here or at chacheska@verizon.net. I honestly don't know what it's worth in it's present condition. I'm in western N.Y. Thanks in advance.

  12. By the way, if no one responds to the ad to buy the car but needs parts off it please let me know before I take it to the crusher. I'll be glad to salvage whatever you need within reason. Thanks again for viewing.

  13. If anyone from the Springfield, Va or DC area or anyone south of there going through that area is going to the Cadillac national meet in Cherry Hill, N.J. in 3 weeks please contact me at chacheska@verizon.net. I have something in Springfield, Va (DC area) that needs to be picked up and brought to the meet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

  14. I'm posting this on this forum because it gets more viewers than any other forum. I'll also post on the Cad site. If anyone is going to the Cherry Hill national meet in 3 weeks from the Springfield, Va or DC area or is going through that area from points south or knows of a fellow Cadillac member that is, please have them contact me at chacheska@verizon.net. There is an item in the city of Springfield that I need brought to the meet if someone would be kind enough to pick it up for me. Thanks very much to all.

  15. It's a burgundy on burgundy with a V6 and 96,000 miles. The left front brake line is shot, the gas line is leaking around the middle of the passenger door area and the left rear frame is gone from the tire back. In other words it's a parts car. I hate to scrap anything but that's where it's going if no one wants it. Scrap here is $235 a ton right now so at 3,100 lbs I can get about $350 for it. After cutting out the cat converter, taking out the radiator, battery, starter and alternator I can probably get another $100 out of it but, again, I hate to scrap something that has many good parts. The car runs well. Anyway. I thought I'd see if anyone was interested before junking it. I'm in the Buffalo, N.Y. area. If someone wants it for $400 it's yours otherwise I could use the money and will cut it up and scrap it. I'm a 1930's collector and don't know the market for these cars so if anyone has any comments or suggestions feel free. Thanks for looking.

  16. If your car is 99% complete don't put a Nova tank on it. Call Dave Tacheny in Minnesota at (763) 427-3460. Dave has provided many, many people with 1937 and 1938 Buick cars and parts over the years. He owns dozens of them and has more parts than anyone. His prices may not be the cheapest but he's definitely not the most expensive, either. He'll have your gas tank.

  17. Having a couple of 1932 Buicks I can tell you the bumpers are definitely chrome. Since the '32 didn't have split rims I can't say for sure but I would assume the part of the rim you're talking about would also be chrome since it's use was pretty prevalent on Buicks by 1931. Can't help you with tires.

  18. Geez, I'm really impressed at the prices of storage buildings in the Chicago area. I bought a 3,769 sq ft warehouse here in western N.Y. 4 years ago for $16,000!! I currently have 17 vehicles in there and could conceivably fit 4 more in there if I wanted to sardine them in. Costs $100 a month in taxes. Not bad when you divide that by 17.
