  1. Good morning and thank you for the responses, especially to you, Michael. I sent you a PM, Michael. Please respond at your earliest convenience. John ........... I didn't mention the make or model because the two things I'm concerned about are the quality of the paint and the way it runs, both of which should be readily apparent to anyone who is a car guy. Other than those two things, I have enough info to make an informed decision. The car was repainted. While it looks O.K. in the pics, it doesn't have the high gloss luster of a quality paint job. Also, when I blow up the pics, it appears there may be some issues with the paint, although the pics get grainier the more they're enlarged, so I can't be sure. The car also has 160,000 miles and I'd like to know how well it runs and what the undercarriage looks like, since it's purportedly a AZ car living in Mn for 12 years. Those things aren't vehicle specific and anyone in the old car hobby should be able to ascertain paint quality and how a car runs, but I understand why you suggested that and I appreciate and thank you for your constructive input. People on this site have always been very friendly and helpful throughout the years and I'm always grateful for that help. Thank you all very much!
  2. Hi one and all. Is there anyone in the Osakis, Minnesota area or nearby cities of Alexandria or St Cloud that can look over a car I'm considering buying in Osakis? It's a 1,100 mile one way drive for me and I'm not able to make the trip at this time. Osakis is about 56 miles northwest of St Cloud and roughly 90 miles northwest of Minneapolis. If you know of anyone in that area, please let me know and I'll get in touch with them ASAP. The weather up there is perfect right now in the 60's so it wouldn't involve uncomfortable temps. Thanks in advance for your help, referrals and/or suggestions.
  3. Also wanted to thank the person who recommended Bill's Auto Transport. There's a company in Buffalo by that name, but I found the post that mentioned Bill's as being located in Ohio. I'll call them tomorrow. Much appreciated.
  4. My apologies for not checking back sooner. Hola, Minnie Mouse. Didn't see you at Hershey last year. I don't believe I can get it to Milwaukee. The owner isn't willing to do that for me, but thanks for the thoughtful reply and suggestion. If, by some flukey chance that could happen, how do I get a hold of your friend, John?
  5. Does anyone know of a hobbyist in the Minneapolis area that would transport a small car to western NY for me? Many thanks.
  6. You can find pretty much anything on the net by Googling it. Here's the link I use: http://pure-gas.org/
  7. I was a member of the original club and joined back in 1982 when Dave Lewis started the club. I signed up for the new club and paid my dues at the Buick Nationals in Flint, when the club was just starting to sign members. I waited and waited for the club to get off the ground and sent Gene Phillips two e-mails over the course of several months, both went unanswered. Frustrated, I wrote a final e-mail commenting on the poor way the club was being run and expressing my regret for joining it. Weeks later, I got a letter and my dues back. The letter ended by saying the club was better off without members like me in it. After being a member in good standing of the original club and paying dues every year for almost 25 years, I wouldn't be a member of the new club if I was paid to join. I've belonged to the AACA, CCCA, Packard club, Cadillac club, VMCCA, Buick club and others over the years and have never experienced the rudeness I did with Phillips from the '36 to '38 Buick club. The old club was a very good, professionally run organization until the last editor took it over. I'm not surprised the membership is so low in the new club, considering the response I got.

  10. Hi. I'm making a trip to Rhode Island July 8th and have an 18' open trailer that I'll be pulling to pick up a car out there. If anyone needs a car delivered anywhere near the Rhode Island to Boston area I'd be happy to work something out with them at a good rate. Thanks!
  11. I have my dad's '73 Cad for sale. It can either be a parts car or restoration project. It's Firemist Green with a white roof and interior. It has 54,000 miles on it. It's rusty in all the normal places for that vintage Cad ...... around the wheel wells, inside the trunk and the gas tank leaks. I have an extra gas tank. It last ran about 15 years ago but I've cranked the engine over occasionally. The paint is weak. I don't want to scrap it because it was my dad's car and also because I'm a hobbyist and that doesn't sit well with me. I'm making a trip to Rhode Island from western NY and would like to find someone in NY, northern Pa, Ct, Ma or RI that might want to buy it as I will be able to deliver it. I'll be leaving by the end of June. I've called a few Cadillac members who own this vintage car and was advised $500 would be a fair price. If anyone is interested please let me know. Thanks!

  13. I have my dad's Coupe. It's Firemist green with a white top and interior. It has 54,000 miles. It hasn't been run in 18 years and needs restoration. The front seat was redone in vinyl. The trunk floor is rotted as is the area right around the wheel wells in front. Typical early 70's Cad rust problems. My dad died in 1977 and the car was used for a few years after that but was put away and stored inside for the last 18 years. I'd really like to see someone restore the car rather than scrap it so if anyone is interested they can post a reply here or at chacheska@verizon.net. I honestly don't know what it's worth in it's present condition. I'm in western N.Y. Thanks in advance.
  14. All the Buckeye jacks I've ever seen have been black. If it were mine I would definitely do black.
  15. If anyone is in the Springfield, Va or DC area or is passing through that area going to the national meet would you please contact me at chacheska@verizon.net? I have an item in the Springfield/DC area that needs to be picked up and brought to the meet. If anyone would be kind enough to help me I'd sincerely appreciate it. Thanks!
