  1. If my body holds together my wife and I will be bringing a large number (Suburban load full) of 1939 Buick small to medium-size mostly NOS, some used 1939 parts, a number of 1941 Buick parts, a few 1964 Buick Wildcat parts, and a very few 1971 Riviera parts.  Many of these parts fit 1936-1953 Buick as well.  C4V23-24.  Earl Beauchamp.  Have a pair of 1939-40 Buick factory skirts (will fit many 1939-1940 cars like all GM, 1939-40 Ford, 41-47 Packard, 40 Chrysler prods and so on; and a new pair of 1964 Buick LeSabre/Wildcat skirts. A dozen or so used Buick wheel covers, 1960s, plus one 1956, cheap.

Back in the mid 1980's I painted my car using PPG's lacquer paint - Duracryl 9300 Black. While changing a florescent light bulb I dropped it on the hood. It dented and chipped the older brittle paint. I had kept a 2/3 quart of DDL 9300 and the matching sealer all these years for just such an emergency. I gave the hood and paint to a painter who was reccomended to me. He stripped, repaired and painted the hood but didnt use the sealer. After a month small bleed through dots started to appear. They would not compound out. He used ALL THE ORIGINAL PAINT on the hood. We have tried two different reccomended blacks in an attempt to match the color. They do not match. The only option appears to be to use the original DDL 9300 Black paint. I have chased down all the current references on the internet and cannot find any DDL 9300. I'm now searching the forums and saw a thread mentioning the paint on the AACA forum. Does ANYONE have any PPG DDL 9300 to buy or know of where I can buy any? I'm getting pretty desperate because the rest of the paint job looks beautiful. Any help would be appreciated. Keith

I have a gallon of unused black lacquer I bought from another collector when I was thinking of touching up my car.  Instead, I repainted the whole car in basecoat/clearcoat.  Have no idea if it is 9300 though.  I don't think anything is marked on the can, but I am willing to go look.  I always thought black lacquer was black lacquer.

  3. See you there.  Norm Hutton is ferrying my '39 Special sedan to and from the Tour for me.  Don Barlup is housing it for a few days until I pick it up in PA.  Don't know how  you can afford gas to tow that big Roadmaster.  We are in an awful situation.  I put an electric fuel pump (with an on/off toggle switch) on all of my cars so I can run ethanol if I have to.  That crap will vapor lock on hot days.  I also installed a radiator shroud on the '39 and boy did that help with the cooling.  Wrapped the steel lines with foam wrapping designed to keep home water heats from freezing in winter up north.  Heading out for a one week trip to Virginia around 10-10:30 AM today.

  4. I have many 1939 Buick NOS parts boxed (in 12 boxes) to take to Hershey if I can make it.  There are also some 1941 and 1964 Wildcat parts in those boxes.  One or two 1971 Buick parts left also.  Sold a number of 1971 Buick Riviera parts yesterday. suzybelle39baby@aol.com.

  5. This is just to let you all know that I'm slowly going through my bins that hold my FIFTY year collection of NOS trim and mechanical small parts for 1939 Buick Specials as I begin easing toward very old age. I'm "only" 83 now and this will be my last Hershey sell-off I'm pretty sure.  Much to most of this stuff is mechanical and fits Series 40, but some spills over to Series 60 and a few pieces will also fit 80-90 cars, but not many, just some of the small trim pieces.  Some of the items are also good used, like a 41 60-70-9 Y-Pipe.  There is also a smattering of 1941 trim parts left over from last year.  Finally some of these pieces also fit through 1955, if they also fit 1939 40 or 1941 70.  At one time I had three 1939 Buick Specials, a 41, a 41C and a 46C.  a few pieces go back to 1937 also.

I hope to bring v.good used rear bumpers for a 41 50-70 and a 41 40-60-90 (this one replated poorly), as well as a new 41-49 reproduction gastank and a good high-speed 41 rear end carrier complete, proven to be good (3.23 for 40-50-60-70).  These last items are available through shipping before Hershey.   Also found a few pieces for a 64 Buick Wildcat and a 69 Electra and a 71 Riviera today.  Will also have some books and showroom pamphlets for the later models.

After Hershey I'll still have at least one each of all of the items I'm selling, as well as a full set of used fenders, nose, hood, trunklid and soforth, as I plan to keep my 39 Buick 41 until I die or almost.  So look for those in 17 more years 😄

  6. Wayne: Gonna be up there in God's Country part of two days end of May.  We're driving up to Tappahannock the third day, then to Baltimore to see my daughter, go down to Arlington with her to see our new grave stone (planning ahead you know), put flowers on mine and Judy's (Fairfax) graves, and then the next day back to Tappahannock to get ready to blast off back to Florida.  Not staying on the Neck long this time.  Might visit Jimmy  & Joyce Davis one of the evenings since they're the only Neckers who come down to see us anymore.  Sold my trailer and  using the money to pay for having the '39 transported to the Sentimental Tour in Gettysburg and back to Florida after the tour.  Probably our last Sentimental Tour unless I ride with somebody else in two more  years.

Hi Earl, I am kind of like you. I use a computer but have yet declined to get a cell phone. I live a happy uncluttered life.

Mr. Franklin: How do you even deal with doctors?  They won't call you, only text.  I hate  text, coming or going.

  8. This is Past President Earl Beauchamp writing.  People bringing up my 16 year old post, Wow!  Some things live on forever.  Today I couldn't get my Verizon bill on line because I goofed up my password a couple of times, nothing changes.  I print the "Speedster" at my expense because it is difficult for me to read it on line........simply my problem.   The people next door have all sorts of problems because they refuse to get a computer.  I wonder how many more older people are like them?  I hate all of the new cars full of electronic gadgets I don't need or want, but they are there, along with their hard seats built for younger people.  I did progress to a "smart phone" but I still can't do more with it than I did will the flip top, except read a few text messages.  It's hard as hell for me to type a text message....fat fingers I guess.  I do read a few emails, but more often I get up and read them on the computer and use the phone just to know they are there.  Apps, too complicated for me at 83 and I don't need any of them yet.  After all there is nothing on TV now except the same news 5-6 times a day.  Everything keeps moving away from you as you get older, so you just have to keep running after thiings as long as you can.  So far I'm only about ten steps behind.   But I am down to just one of my beloved '39 Buicks and two modern Buicks.  In Florida, old people need A/C.  Sold my old trailer last week and plan to use the money to transport my '39 to what will probably be our last Sentimental Tour (up in Gettysburg, PA).  Been culling out multiple extra '39 Buick parts and after this coming Hershey flea market we plan to sell the 2007 Suburban too.  At least "I ain't dead yet" as that old saying goes. 😁
