  3. Hi to everyone. About 3 years ago at the annual Turlock Swap Meet in California someone had a BUICK TOW TRUCK OF THE EARLY 40's the truck was in dire need of a complete restoration. If anyone has any information about who and or where I can contact this person please email me at pduran1860@sbcglobal.net or respond on this post. Thanks Paul
  4. Hi Randy, Well neither of these cars appears to be the car that Ramon is looking for in my opinion ...... these are non running and needing a complete restoration and not complete and LW motor is not an LX numbers matching motor. What we have here is a difference in opinions of a parts car, a driver, and a show car. ReRead his original question and his description of what he would like to have. If fact Ramon, will either of these cars qualify for what you want? Thanks Paul
  5. I have only owned about 40 Rivieras 6 or 7 Gran Sports. My comment to 3Jakes is that I will buy all of the 65 Gran Sport in the Driver condition described that you can find. This is not a joke I am serious line them up. 3Jakes is only out of date by 10 years .... but then again, not everyone is tracking Rivs, unless you are a Dick Sweeney, he is in the know. I'm sure he will buy them as well. Nice thing about a forum ..... you get opinions from everyone.
  6. As to the 57 w/ 15k miles .... if it was stored in a garage where the paint and trim are good ... and the milage is actual. That price should not be a problem. Good Luck Paul

  9. As a comment. I sold tires for 40 plus years starting in 1957. Originally the tires were sized 760 x 15, 800 x 15 and 820 x 15. The main difference between the 800 x 15 and the 820 x 15 was that the 820 was slightly wider than the 800 and was used on the extra large or heavy cars. In later years when the mfg combined the sizes they combined the 800 & the 820 making a 800/820 x 15 indicating that you could use that tire for either application. I never saw a 760/800 x 15 which were different sizes .... so the 820 would be the way to go. Another point until they started the new sizing (gov't mandated) mfgs were free to make any size tire and as long as it would carry the weight it could be labeled as such. It was not recommended to MIX BRANDS as they could vary in size by up to an inch. Good luck and my recommendation is the 820 x 15. Paul

  18. I have just purchased a Buick GS 455 that does not have the twin snorkel air cleaner that has the two foam sealer pads to the hood, instead it has a twin snorkel air cleaner but the snorkels are short and they are flared out at the ends just like anyother air cleaner and it still has the label "455" The engine has the 5-bolt holdown valve covers are longer than the 350 the block has the "455" in the casting over the bell housing behind the intake manifold and guess what a STANDARD HOOD w/o any air intake openings. The vin number is a GS 455: 44637 OZ 101607 The ID plate info is : ST 70-44637 BF 00065 BDY TR 189 B80 69 A PNT 098 020855 180498 Please advise if you are familiar with a GS factory equipped w/ std hood. Thanks Paul pduran1860@sbcglobal.net

  22. Hi There, Well in order to determine what any vehicle is worth.... first you need to know which model it is ... 2 dr v/s 4 dr or wagon, hardtop v/s sedan v/s coupe and that will get you into the basics .... get yourself a Old Car Value Guide and like the name implies it is only a GUIDE. They rate the car from out in the field to better than you would normally find (better than new) and they give you price ranges for each (based on condition) then you have to use your own opinion to determine what range the specific car you are looking at will fall into. As an example if this one is a convertible the range starts at $2500 like behind the barn needing restoration ...... to $64,000 to a pristine Number One condition car ...... the seller always looks at the car in better than it is condition and the buyer wants to buy in a lower category then you negotiate. THATS THE FUN OF IT .... DONE RIGHT YOU'LL DO OK ... THE WORST THING IS YOU CAN LOSE MONEY .... THE BEST IS YOU GET A CAR YOU REALLY WANT AND MAYBE ITS WORTH MORE THEN YOUR INVESTMENT. Good Luck Paul and buy yourself an OLD CAR VALUE GUIDE at most book stores.
