  1. Unfortunately, due to storage situation, good images will not be available for quite some time. I will strive to remember to get it done.
  2. All, my tech advisor recommended leaving the mag alone as getting it back in phase might be a bit difficult. He let me know that the steering column does need to come out . Then the cowl body section has four bolts and with other linkage disassembly , it could be removed and the tank removed. I chose to clean in place.
  3. I need two door latch pulls that are on top of touring doors to pull rhe latch to open the door. Might also consider someone to do aluminum casting from a good front one.
  4. I have decided to remove the under the cowl gas tank in a model 32 for cleaning. I have the center control rods out, the strap fasteners both on inside of dash and fire wall. Looks like mag and steering column need removed. Any hints on how to not make extra work for my self, as I procede.
  5. The Maxwell meeting will be the Thursday of the Hershey Fall meet event in Red Field in HCCA tent at 1:00 pm
  6. I am needing a clutch for a 1910 Maxwell. While not likely to be it, it might convert to be one. What are you asking for it?
  7. I used thick round extension cord sectioned instead of rope and put in the groove to mount and then ran with no issues. Another car upon inspection, I found that the rings were reversible and simply mounted them to the flat side. Remember that straightwall tires have a reinforcement in the inner portion, so they will not deform so much when the air pressure is applied.
  8. The top one looks like an after cooler core that has broken out the side, possibly due to freezing. Maybe the others are also from an aftercooler, just not the type I was use to seeing.
  9. I have used Bill's Antique Radiator Restorations in Chillicothe, IL. His primary business is making full restoration and recreations of brass era radiators, but they also do newer radiators. I have had Dan ( the son, as Bill has passed) do complete rebuild of cell type radiator. I also had a square tube core that had plugged up tight, after I foolishly used stop leak on it. His initial price was too much for a car I needed to be excellent serviceable condition, but was going to tour and not show. So he gave me several options for a non authentic radiator that gave me good service, but cost much less. I did not choose it, but one option was to make a slice of the original about a half inch thick and build it into a dummy front to make the new core appear as the old.

  12. I once got a large lot of old ignition parts and included were many distributor gears strung together on a wire. They are long gone. You might try someone selling ignition parts.
  13. I have a 1909 book that has some info. PM me
  14. I have had association with an 1910 E and my son has my old 1910 G and a disassembled 30 HP chassis with engine. All are similar with some differences. My 1908 Maxwell radiator is 21" wide and 23" tall. The side mounting bolts are at 7" and 12" from bottom. It is in good shape, but should it ever fail a good back up radiator could be a blessing. See if yours matches these measurements. If so maybe we could work something out. Joe Goss 765-427-7078

    1908 NC

Just read the post on the factory document circa 1906. Did not want to steal that post, so does anyone have any similar info, especially phot of 1908 model NC. I have what may be the only one left. The rear fenders extend forward unlike the 1908 brochure. Please share if anyone has a factory photo.
  18. Did you try Jeff Haslen for parts or contacts?I have old contacts info if needed.
  19. I am presently marketing a 1948 NewYorker convertible. I have some images, but I am not sure about linking, so emailing me might be best.
  20. Just a little more info. The 34x4.5 is the standard size, so 4.4x2=9 from 34 also equals 25" rim size.
  21. Being a woodgrainer, I thought I would check my files for possible help. I own Woodgrain by Estes, which has been in business for over fifty years. We have in that time only recorded two 47s and two 48 Desotos. This lack of other Desotos is likely due to the fact that our process is a bit expensive for such a car. This is apparently a two grain job and our records show two different grain sets. I do not know if that is due to actual differences in models or different choices made trying to match original. So at least some information is available to help out should you ever get a set again to grain. Back when I had Desotos, I had parts cars, so I would check with other owners incase they also would have parts cars. Good luck. Joe Goss, Woodgrain by Estes
  22. I need to see how the front seat upholstery attaches around the angle iron at the side of the seat where it bolts to body angle ironing the rear side. Can anyone offer either an image or verbiage to describe?
