  1. There is a beautiful Early Packard Photo (Probably 1910) somone has for sale on E-bay. It will blow up nicely on your computer. Note the accessory Solareclipse headlamps! It also does not have the light colored wheels common to early Packards, I loved the drivers getup as well. He Looks like a bear. Its number is 6548978718 for you early brass car lovers.

  2. I believe the issue you are looking for is Sept- Oct 1980 Vol. 44 NO. 5. It has a 10 page article on Deemer, Walter Seely, and the four cars with many photos of the cars and the restorations he accomplished. Hope this helps,I would prefer to keep my copy however.

  3. The red 1907 roadster came up for auction at Meadow Brook Hall July 31 , 2004 It sold for 407,000. R&M handled the sale. In their catalog they had a four page article on the 1907 and F.C Deemer. According to their story, He bought the 1907 for his honeymoon but it was involved in a fire in Oil City Penn. He shipped it home and stored it but did travel to the factory and bought another to finish the trip and another to be delivered later. the following year he purchased a fouth. eventually he stored them all and his two sons inherited them after his death in 1959. They have some beautiful photos of the 1907.

  4. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why certain vendors, for lack of a better name, advertise the same cars over and over for months, even years at a time either on E-bay or Hemmings, etc. They don't seem to get the fact that if it hasn't sold (especially on E-bay where there are so many buyers) that perhaps they are in the stratisfere in regard to price maybe?? I really don't get it but then maybe I'm missing something here? Got any ideas as to why this behavior exists?

  5. There is a Chalmers owners registery that lists the names and addresses of most owners. They publish a good newsletter with wanted and for sale ads and good historical articles. Would you be interested in subscibing?? I will look up the information if you are interested. Unfortunately I am not at my home office right now so I will have to look it up later tonight .

  6. Attn; All 48 Buick aficianados. I was visiting a friend today at his elderly uncles ranch. We were looking at the old barn which was leaning precariously. and decided to risk the rickity stairs to the loft to check out anything of value and low and behold a treasure trove of 48 parts!! Lots of mouldings, window frames, one R.R. door a R.R. fender and trunk lid, 4 hub caps with some dents, one bumper, several bumper guards, one large center guard, a radio, shift lever, and engine parts- 8 pistons and rods etc. I think there is a transmission also. No reasonable offer refused, but must be picked up, too much to ship, Located in Northern Cal 70 mi south of the Golden Gate on Highway 1. Call 831-426-7358 after 5 P. D. T. for an appointment to view. Unfortunatly must be sold as a lot, we have no storage. Thanks, Chuck

  7. According to my records Oldsmobile made approximately 250 limiteds each of the three years 1910 1911 and 1912. There are I believe 10 existing today, one 1910, one 1912, and 8 1911 models. The Resnick car is a 1912 and lives in L.A. What is surprising is that 3 of the 1911 models are in the L.A. area at this time, all in large collections. I had the pleasure once of riding in the 1910 of Harrahs. Quite a large car, never got to take it out on the highway so it was a rather subdued ride but exciting non the less to be able to ride in one.

  8. Hi Harry; I have the same trouble with a radiator that I think is constructed the same way. I t has square tubes horizontaly all soldered together at the front and rear of the core, A lot of expensive cars use this type but I think they give more porblems them the vertical tube type. Some shave off a bit on the front somhow and mount a modern core behind. Mine is in good shape but I haven't been able to find any information as to how to clean it. It gets hot on a long grade and is slow to cool off. I have asked for help but no one seems to know anything much about this type. I am trying to flush with prestone flushing compoun d but I don't seem to get much gunk out of it. I am going to try KOOL IT product, they say it helps an engine run much cooler, Will let you know what happens, Chuck

  9. My 1911 Chalmers has a Mayer Carburetor which according to the parts list I have is correct. I would assume that the 1910 also uses Mayer although the photo in the parts book I have shows some minor differences. Most Chalmers cars that are driven a lot use a Carter BB1. It fits with no modification and works much better than the Mayer. They say the Mayer works the best on the shelf.

  10. I was looking through Some Hershey photos that were posted , there is a beautiful red roadster which I had to assume was a 1910 Stevens- Duryea model XXX. Unfortunately no caption was given. Was the car there for display? was it for sale? who does it belong to? if for sale how much? I was not able to go to Hershey , so I really enjoyed the photos. I know there is little interest in the brass cars now, but to me they are still amazing in how they still operate almost a 100 years later. Did those fellows who built them know what they were doing or what?? Would appreciate a reply from anyone who saw this car and knows more about it. Thanks

  11. On my 29 model A the fan clearance at the upper hose connection is too close, You can hear it hit especially when in reverse. The engine seems to be mounted correctly and I have driven many miles. It is getting worse , does the radiator need to be shimmed up?? Anyone out there have this problem?

  12. I have a 29 model A. The fan clearance at the upper radiator hose connection is too close. In reverse you can hear it hit the hose clamp or upper radiator connection. Why is this?? is the radiator too low and needs to be shimmed up?? Any ideas?? Thanks

  13. No one probably remembers "Genevive" a great British movie made in the fifties about the London to Brighton run. I has many old cars, the stars being a Dutch Spyker and a 1904 Darracq. I think it starred Terry Thomas and Kay Kendell. Any memories out there??

  14. Last year I purchased a Haulmark trailer and have to say it has been so far a really great trailer. The springing is such that things arn't jarred and if I leave something loose on the floor it doesn't seem to move while traveling. I like 20 feet as anything longer becomes a hassle for several reasons. I also had it made 1 foot taller for one of my cars and it fits fine and doesn't seem to have much wind drag while traveling. They also have an option of galvanized sheet metal flooring and it is a great idea. easy to clean and lacks the fire hazard of wood when it gets greasy, not to mention carpeting which is the worst, if it gets oily it is a real bear to clean and talk about fire hazard, I don't even want to think of that one! Some like polished aluminum deck material but the little deck marks are difficult to clean. The galvanized is smooth and you can just wipe it down. I also had them install grey plastic sheeting inside which again is easy to wipe down and reflects lite. Sure makes the inside look nice. They will mount the floor anchors wherever you want, as early cars need different positions than later ones. I didn't want to put the tracking in as I don't think it will hold up in a severe crash. Just some thoughts , remember to order a spare tire mount and don't forget the gravel guard in front, it really saves the paint on the front, especially on dirty roads. As you can probably tell I really love this piece of equipment, although when loaded with a 4000 lb car it takes a 3/4 ton truck to move it safely. It is made as a car hauler so it has a ramp rear door and is 8 feet wide which is essential for moving autos, anything narrower will take a winch as you can't get out. I also installed a winch, but mainly when the cars don't want to go in under their power and need some encouragement. I used to use open trailers but enclosed keeps the cars much cleaner, especially if you get caught in the rain, besides when staying overnite the security is much better and you don't have to check on it all night. Also you can load ahead of time and not deal with it the day you travel. Don't have to unload either when you get home if your too tired.

  15. I have four Buick split rims and steel felloes. No hubs or wooden spokes- most lock ring hardware is there. They fit 21" tires. I don't know exactly what year they would be but someone who might need them will. 100.00 for all including a spare tire holder ,fits on rear of car. Thanks Chuck F

  16. Wood steering wheel with column and gearbox in good condition, make unknown. Brass large Klaxon horn works well, bell has some dings, otherwise very good. can e-mail photos of both items. Single seat buggy top, good original condition, includes some extra bows and shift rails.Several brass carburetors, Schebler, describe what you need, maybe they match.
