  1. A good friend has an auto-ette three wheeled electric car, made sometime in the forties. He is having a hard time locating information on this car and would like to know if there is a club or somone who knows more about it than he. He is particularly stumped about the electric switch wiring and the forward and reverse lever.I told him if anyone knows it would be on this forum. Thanks, Chuck F.

  2. You know Tom , you are right, these early cars take a lot more effort and concentration to operate and drive. I would be willing to take this car off your hands any time to save you the effort and discomfort you might experiance in driving and showing. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Chuck F.

  3. I noticed recently a 1918 Bearcat for sale, but the engine doesn't look quite right to me. I think it is supposed to have a T-head engine but this engine has the manifolds all on one side. However, I may be wrong as I really don't know much about these, so maybe someone else more familiar with this car could comment. The rear spare mount also looks incorrect. (the photos are on e-bay)

  4. I have a 29 Roadster and when I purchased it it would change lanes all by itself the steering was so sloppy. (Had about half a turn of slack.) A friend rebuilt it about 5 years ago and it was much better, but now it is getting sloppy again and is not fun to drive as you have to keep correcting it all the time. It appears that there is no adjustment, is that correct? I really need some advice before I go to all the work to remove it again. Is it possible the 29 gearbox is not a good box to have or are there rebuilt ones availiable that I could buy and exchange??? Sure would appreciate any help or advice you have regarding this. Thanks

  5. I happen to notice the Baby Reo came up for sale at Gooding Auction in Pebble beach, It came with a full size car also and went for 275,000. Hard to know what something like this is worth it is so rare and unique. Amazing that it survived this long.

  6. I am using a carter BB1D it fits right on and workd perfectly, Many early cars use this one and everyone seems to like them a lot. Hard to find a Chalmers without one. I have driven several with the original Mayer but don't care for it much, they work better in the display cabinet!

  7. For Sale 1970 Ford Ranchero 500 Purchased new by my father at the Ford dealership in Salinas Ca. 351 Cleveland P/S P/B A/T A/C (needs Recharge been in storage) 126,000 original miles, good upholstry (tan) good carpet, very clean runs and drives great. repainted several years ago original color dark green. A really nice original car, perfect for the person who likes to screw up really nice orginal cars! Asking 3850.00

  8. I have very good luck with Champion C16-C plugs They are a higher heat range but I don't think they are availible anymore. I like to use the ports on the intake side for the plugs, runs better, I think Bosch recommends 18 thous, for plug gap on the magneto side, any more and they are hard starting, have hesitatiion, and burns out the mag coils. My Rayfield likes the air mixture turned out as lean as possible with out backfiring on acceleration. I screw the main jet in until it runs smooth on the straightaway. Idle is adjusted best when fully warmed up. It takes a lot of driving, stopping, adjusting and driving again to get it right but this Rayfield is a great carburator, much better than a modern one I had on it.

  9. Hi Steve, way out here on the West Coast I just got my issue yesterday afternoon. I was blown away by the cover, I think it is the finest I have ever seen. Just couldn't believe how they did the transformation from front to back. Just super- a fine job, well done, Thanks,,, Chuck F

  10. careful about letting people unfamiliar with your car drive it, damage can occur and it can also be dangerous. I used to let anyone drive mine but will not do that anymore, its amazing what can happen with someone else behind the wheel!

  11. Hi John: I restored a very early olds several years ago It was a 1903 CDO. It is a great car to drive and i have really enjoyed it. If yours is a good original, it may be better to leave it original as there is a lot of interest in original cars nowadays. I live about 2 hours away from you on the coast, Would be glad to send photos but am reluctant to put my E-mail on the computer my cell is 831 818 4317 if you are interested.
