  1. Hello Everyone Here are a few more pictures of the wagon. It is incredibly rust free and would be a shame if scrapped. Is anyone restoring a rusty car? $750 or best offer, the fenders and doors are worth more than that. Thank You Steve
  2. Lance & John Over time those slits are stress cracks in the copper horn contact piece, originally this was a solid piece. I machined one from a solid brass piece for one of my cars. The cracks cause the copper to raise up and touch the steering shaft and that is why the horn blows when the wheel is turned. The turning of the wheel moves the copper piece away from the opening and that grounds to the inside of the steering column. It is a lot of work to fix, but a little easier on the 58 as you don't have to take the brake pedal off. John your post was very helpful and well done. Steve
  3. Hi Lance Its looking good. The lights and turn signals are a difficult on these. The 58 Century Convertible that I restored fought me a lot on the lights and that was with a new wiring harness for the entire car. It turned out great in the end. Steve
  4. Hi Mike I don't think anyone can get their money out of a car that they restore nowadays. It is cheaper to by a car done, but for guys like you and I we enjoy the restoration process and that makes it worthwhile. One guys hobby is golf and he told me he will never get back the money he spent on green fees, clubs, etc. But he enjoys his hobby. I think a lot of people forget that about classic cars and only focus on the investment. For me the hobby part is my escape from the pressures of life and when I am tinkering with my project, I don't think of anything else. Steve
  5. Hi Lamar This looks great, it is a lot of work but the results are fantastic. Especially when you place an old Buick in the building. I just made mine all white drywall and have to work extra hard to keep things clean and look for studs when I want to hang something. Steve
  6. Hi Doug If we go that route, you need to help me cut up the frame and scrap it. I actually have a current CA title in my name for the frame and I also have the cowl and firewall, as I titled it when I bought it in 2004. Let's keep in touch and figure out the best way forward. I need to have it moved in four weeks. Thanks Steve
  7. Hi Matt I don't think I have a title for this one, so no title, but I will check my files. It is not hard to get a CA title, but I am not sure I want to now due to Covid and DMV lines out the door and around the building, it will take a lot of time. My dad bought it to restore and then bought one in drivable condition from one of the members in the club, so this one just lingered. It is best for parts. It would be a shame if it is scraped, the body is very straight and rust free. Thanks Steve
  8. Hello I have a few parts left from a 1948 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country. The car was a restored car in great shape. I have the transmission $450, driveshaft $50, engine splash pans $50, front brake drums with hubs $175 pair and backing plates with all components $150 pair, box of hardware $50, battery tray $25, Engine dipstick tube $25, and some electrical pieces regulator, relays & connection blocks $45. Let me know what you need, if you want it all will make a better deal. Thank You Steve
  9. Hi I have one from a 1948 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country. Do you know if they are the same or similar? Thanks Steve
  10. Hi Fred Yes the transmission is the self shifter type. I have not driven the car, but the car was a fully restored car at the time the drivetrain was removed. Make an offer on the transmission, what would it be worth as a core? I just don't need this stuff anymore. Thank You Steve
  11. Hello I have the following 1955 Buick Century Estate wagon for sale, no engine or transmission. As shown in the pictures. It would make a great parts car. Only surface rust, California car for parts or custom project. Any reasonable offer accepted. Thank You Steve
  12. Hello Everyone I have a 1955 Buick Roadmaster 2 door hardtop frame with front suspension, rear end, driveshaft and torque tube. The frame rolls and can be moved easily. I used it as a dolly to place my body on during my frame off restoration. Located in Los Angeles. Does anyone need one? Anyone restoring a big convertible? It worked out so well. Thank You Steve
  13. Hi Pete Thanks for posting this, I am very sorry to hear she passed, she and Brian were great and loved Buick’s and the clubs. She will be missed greatly. May she rest in peace. Steve
  14. Hi John I would like to buy this piece. Thanks Steve
  15. Hi Auburncoupe Where are you located? This will be a very nice project. From the pictures Greg sent me it looks like a solid car. Good luck with the project, it will be very rewarding. Steve
  16. Glad someone rescued this car. It is in very good shape considering it’s storage for the past 50 plus years. I would love to have restored this, but I haven’t finished my 55 Super Convertible restoration. I got excited when I saw it. Steve
  17. Lamar The car looks great, you spent a lot of time detailing. I am doing the same on my Buick’s right now, we should never let them sit. Happy cruising. Steve
  18. Hi Lance He is very knowledgeable and our conversations were always very informative and enjoyable. I hope he is okay.
  19. Hello I just sent you an email for more pictures. Thanks Steve
  20. Thank you everyone for the responses. I appreciate all the help. Steve
  21. Hi Lamar Out here in California, the shop I use for triple chrome will be around $375 to $450. I just picked up some pieces on Monday and they were in that range. If you have pictures of your cores, I can email them to the shop and they will provide an estimate. Hope this helps. Steve
  22. Hello Everyone Just curious what everyone is currently using for carb cleaner. I heard Pine Sol in an ultrasonic cleaner bath is a good cleaner. I am curious what other products are out there to soak the carb bowls. Thank You Steve
  23. Thanks Mike, if you were still here, you could have taken it out for a drive.
