  2. Hi guys I have found a 1973 Gran Sport 455 Stage 1 in #5 condition. What are these worth? How many were built? Are they desirable at all? How can one be sure it is a true gran sport 455 Stage 1? Thanks

  4. What's the best way or is there a way to test the coil? Thanks
  5. Hi Guys On a 55 Buick, it has the incorrect generator on it(a 45 amp one, where a 35 amp one is needed). I put in new plug wires, cap, points, condensor, coil resistor and it ran great and I drove it around for a couple of miles, this was last week, now I have no spark anywhere. Question is can the higher output generator fried something? Can the points have burned up already? or Condensor? What should I do now? Please help Thanks
  6. Hey gang Put my 55 on Ebay, so take a look 55 Olds Thanks
  7. Phil I live in very close to La Cresenta CA and I am restoring a 1956 Mark II, I would love to buy the engine from you and can rent a hoist to go pick it up and haul it away in my truck. I also need a Mark II hood if you know of one for sale. Please advise if you are interested steveclassic@earthlink.net Thanks
  8. Hi I need a hood for a 1956 Continental Mark II in straight rust free condition. Can anyone help. Close to Los Angeles is a plus. Thanks steveclassic@earthlink.net
  9. Lamar As far as I have been able to figure out on 55's. THe original tires could have been US Royal, Firestone, General & BFGoodrich Silvertown tires in 8.00 x 15. Now I have a 55 Roadmaster 2 door hardtop with 11,000 original miles on it and with two original tires, the spare and one of the tires that was in the rear. I changed all the tires except the spare. The only 8.00 x 15 tires I found were the Coker Classics, so I opted to go with the correct brand and incorrect size of 8.20 x 15 Firestone tires from Coker. They look excellent on the car and the car drives extremely well. BTW I don't believe in using radials on 50's Buicks as they were not designed for radial tires. I think the forces which act on the suspension and the wheels are greatly different between radials and bias ply tires. The correct whitewall width for the 55 was 3" or just a bit over 3", 54 may have been a bit larger or the same, but not smaller. Attached is a picture of the original spare. Hope this helps, please email me a few pictures of your car steveclassic@earthlink.net thanks
  10. Hi I need a 1955 Buick Super or Roadmaster rear sheetmetal, I need the piece where the trunk lid comes down to close, the piece goes from the trunk lid to the floor pan. This is about 4 feet long and maybe 10 inches wide with a curve in it. It is between the bumper and trunk lid. Anyone out there have one? Is this the same between a two door or four door or convertible? Thanks steveclassic@earthlink.net
  11. Guys Thanks for the answers, the car is a 55 Buick Super convertible and it has undercoating on it, I have it all disassembled, but I can't get the undercoating off of it. Whats weird is that the frame had no undercoating on it, only the bottom of the floor pan. Inside the trunk walls and rear wheel wells as well as the inner panel where the rear window slides in and out of. How can I remove it or how can I reapply in some areas? The car has no floor rust anywhere so patch panels are not needed. Thanks
  12. Bruce That's what I read in the 1999 BCA judging book, it is stated exactly as you wrote. Has this changed? thx
  13. Are you sure about loosing points? I read in the BCA Judging manual that although the use of undercoating was discouraged there was no point deduction. Has this changed? Thx
  14. NTX5467 Thanks for the info This stuff has to be factory, its very thick and covers only the body and nothing else, its in the wheel wells, in between the outer and inner body panels in the trunk walls, etc. The car is a 55 convertible, so maybe they built them a bit different, it is also a Flint built car. Any more info??????????? Thanks
  15. Hi I am working on a 55 Buick which has factory undercoating on the bottom of body pan and in the rear wheel wells, also in the inner panels of the body. That's why I think it was factory. In BCA judging does one loose points for undercoating? If so how many? When can undercoating be used? What years? Thanks steveclassic@earthlink.net

  18. Dean Jeffries is still around and still has his shop, he was another customizer of the era. Unfortunately we got rained on this morning and George Barris was a noshow today, I'll get in touch with him and try to get more info about that car. Brian I set my email to block all emails that are not in my address book, they still go through, but are saved in a special folder, so I got your email last night. I'll get more info soon.
  19. Brian & Terry I will be seeing George Barris tomorrow on sunday. If you guys get me the article I can show it to him and ask for the whole story on the car. He still has his shop in North Hollywood. Email me steveclassic@earthlink.net Thanks
  20. Do you have a book of part numbers? If so I have two NOS ones of these guards in the box and I don't know what it fits, ironically we got ours thinking it would work for 37 or 38 Buick. Email me steveclassic@earthlink.net
  21. I have a 55 Holiday 2 door hardtop for sale. Email me and I'll email you pictures steveclassic@earthlink.net The Car is in Los Angeles thanks
  22. Hello I saw your post on the BCA discussion page, I am the technical advisor for the BCA for 1955 Buicks and do own a four door hardtop. Would you please send me the invoice or a copy of it. I'd like it for my files for future research and help to the members. steveclassic@earthlink.net I tried your email but it did not work. Thanks
  23. Guys This car is anything but original, it has the incorrect carpet, the dash has 55 Century engine turning which the Skylarks did not have, the door panels have 55 Roadmaster trim, it has a replaced exhaust (dual exhaust which Buick did not offer till 56), has airbags in the springs. It is missing the sun visors (convertible ONLY), it has autronic eye (Buick didn't offer this in 54 or 55 or 56), It has a 56 Roadmaster six way power seat (never offered in 54 or 55), It has tensioner bars from an Oldsmobile under the hood. All of these modifications need a lot of work to put in, so most of the car has been touched. It may very well be a one owner car, but it is not an untouched orininal. Anyone buying this at this price will be greatly disappointed.
  24. It's a 55 olds for sure, not a Buick. I have both.
