  1. This system does not have a air gap in the dist cap The air gap lets the coil voltage to get higher and will fire the plug with a hotter spark, opening to plug gap to 035 to 040 will will make the spark hotter. See Dave Chambers article in AA March - April 1971. JB Buick 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  2. The delco switch on my 1922 Buick has a single breaker like that, a short causes it to buzz. Chech Waytek.com they have many breakers you may be able to use. You will have to figure out the total amp draw on each circuit. JB 1922 Buick 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  3. That does not look like a Buick rad , the lower inlet should be on the right side, and the crank hole goes through the lower tank on the master series. JB
  4. The 23 parts book I have shows bow holders for a model 54 , they look the same as the model 44. They are for two bows not three like the one in your pic. The holders with 3 bows are for 45. 49, and 55. JB 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  5. What size wood wheels are on the car 23" or 24"? 23" is the correct size for the 54 and 55 cars. All other 6cyl models use 24" Most 54's came with wire 1922 54 was standard with wire, 23 may be the same. As for top holders, on the back of the body there should be aluminum strips to protect the body when the top is down, I don't know if it should have bow holders, will check the 23 parts book later. JB 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  6. Try Faxon, they have a reprint for $19.00. JB
  7. Dick, check your email address again could not send . JB
  8. Dick, 1923 headlights and cowl lights from a model 44 or 45 are the same. The speedometer is a vansicklen with a clock, the gas tank is a 16 gal. unit used on 1922 models 46,47,48,49,50. Hope that helps. What happened to your orig posting??? JB
  9. I don't think it would be had to reproduce. Check local machine shops. It may be quicker to make one, than to find one. JB 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  10. As for parts, the shaft, bushings, and impeller will have to be made by your local machine shop, I think several members have had the impeller made, Terry Wiegand is one. Also some have adapted modern seals instead of the packing. The passing of Dave Corbin is a very sad note, he will be missed by all of us. JB 22-6-55
  11. Scott, A dial bore gauge is the best way to measure the cyl. I bought one on Ebay for about $50. Snap gauges are a pain. The hone you are using is for deglazing the bore. A machine shop can hone to the correct size, and keep the bore round and not bell shaped. JB
  12. Leif, The vasoline is just a lubricant for the rotor button and track in the cap. JB
  13. Buick dist caps up to 27 do not run an air gap, contacts both the center carbon brush and the brass plug connection, the cap would have to be way off to cause arcing. Leif, Is he using a little vasoline on the track in the cap? JB 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  14. It may have dropped a valve, which would account rough running then lock up. A loose rod bolt would be similar but just would knock and then size. It would be better not to try to turn it over, as you may cause more damage. Contact the rebuilder first. JB Buick 22-6-55 Sport touring
  15. Tom Mix's 734 went to MI I think, Paul Aldrich would know as he handled the sale. That was my favorite one in his collection , next was the 41 160 conv sedan , the dual carbs and Edmonds head made a big difference. JB
  16. Josef, Terry Wiegand in Kansas has one of these installed in his 1922 Buick model 48. He would be a great resource, as I would only be able to send pics of the pieces. Google Perfection car heaters. JB
  17. Josef, There is a hand operated valve in in the exhaust pipe just in front of the muffler, one of my 22 parts cars had a complete system. The outlet of the heater connects to a separate tail pipe . I still have most of the parts. JB 1922 Buick 22-5-55 Sport Touring
  18. Looks like a 1923, 4&6 cyl look the same. I don't think the 24 is the same. Leif a 22 would have the dashpot on the bottom, Model H. JB 1922-6-55 Sport Touring
  19. AussiePhil, My 22 has a piece of black T shaped rubber with a mall spring ( like a pen spring). They are shown in the parts book. JB 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  20. Rog2, You need to contact Dave Jones in Wales. He as a 23 -45 as part of his wedding car co. He may be able to help. I may have an armature and a few other parts. JB 22-6-55 Sport Touring
  21. I have replaced wiring on a 48 Roadmaster last year and the new harness's had repro blocks, I just sand blasted the orig ones and they were as good as new. JB
  22. Phils, If the parts are the same as 22-23, I may have what you need. 1922,1923 have 2 wheel brakes but the rear brakes may be the same, my parts are from the 124" wheelbase. I think the drums are 14". JB 1922-6-55
