1. Check out the Old Town website www.oldtown.com for more info. Oct. 20-21 is the annual BOPC (Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Cadillac)Show there. I can't find info or contact info on this show unfortunately.
  2. It's not South Florida, but if you want to make a weekend of it, come up to Old Town in Kissimmee. They have a cruise every Saturday night for cars up to and including 1972. You'll see a few antiques, street rods, muscle cars, and a handful of Buicks. Old Town is an "entertainment" complex built to look like an old town. Shops, restaurants, etc. are there. The cars actually cruise up the brick street. Quantity of cars varies, 300 to 500, but for the Anniversary Cruise it gets over 1000. Arrive early. There are motels adjacent to Old Town. Let me know if you're interested and I'll try and find their website.
  3. I normally don’t respond to people making incorrect accusations, especially those who are too embarrassed to post their name. I remember you attending the Board of Directors Meeting in Tampa, but like you, I can’t remember your name. Guess the lure of Florida in February was just too much for someone from Minnesota to resist, since you “can’t afford the time or the money.”
What a shame that you and your small band of misinformed cohorts chose to spread negative propaganda about the club instead of using your energies for something positive. You have been provided with facts and figures numerous times, yet you chose to ignore the truth, but instead spread vicious lies and slanderous remarks that only serve to undermine the BCA.
You were correct when you said, “The BOD actions of the last three years or so has given you what you have for YOUR club.” If it wasn’t for the insight and heads-up action of these board members, there very well might not be a club in the near future. Instead of seeing the BCA plunged into financial disaster, the educated board members including Eichelberger, Vasilow, Brashares, and I made financially sound decisions to put the club back on track. In addition to savings of thousands of dollars, the BCA now has a high quality publication, and a friendly, efficient office, too!
What is even sadder is that your small group of misinformed dissidents doesn’t even make any contributions to the BCA. You don’t serve on boards, you don’t judge cars, you don’t show cars, you don’t even attend the Nationals, but you found time to fix board elections the past few years, and pass judgment on those who have given countless hours of their time and talents, and many dollars out of their own pockets to make this the best possible club for ALL BCA members, not just a few!
You don’t realize that you are being used – you’re just puppets for those selfish members who abused the BCA for their own financial gain for years. Those are the very people who plunged the club into near financial disaster. You truly don’t want to hear the truth even when it is being offered and available to you.
By the way, I have a great idea how you can run for the BOD and win. You are in sympathy with the Heartland philosophy; you’d be the ideal candidate. I’m sure they would be more than happy to pay for your airfare and hotel for the meetings. Since they control the elections, you’re a shoe-in, even if no one knows your name!
Ken Liska, BCA #6396 (Longtime member – only 4 digits)
BDE #2 (Really Longtime member)
Former BCA Board Member and Vice President – now I can be politically incorrect!

PS – Thank you “Old Guy” for your vote of confidence. The majority of the BCA understands and agrees with your comments.
  4. Congratulations to Mike & Nancy for being the successful bidder. It will be great for the BCA members and prospective members to have a 'live' pleasant voice answering the phone. We've know the Books for nearly twenty years and have complete confidence in the fact they will do a terrific job! Welcome Mike & Nancy!
Ken & Paula Liska, BCA #6396
BDE #2
  5. Roger
I am finishing a 1930 Buick Roadster, a body off restoration. You might try Bob's Automobilia in California. If you need them rebuilt, Apple Hydraulics (check Hemmings for their ad) can do it, but be prepared to pay BIG $$$. We shipped the ones for this car there to be done and, as far as I know, they did a good job (hasn't been driven yet). Good luck with your project.
Ken Liska, BCA #639
  6. Chuck -
I have contacted Baker Press and authorized them to send you a new ballot. Anyone that wants to vote as badly as you most certainly deserves all the help we can provide! Thanks for you patience.
Ken Liska BCA #6396
BCA Board Member

  10. Congratulations Robert! Unfortunately Old Cars Weekly only gives credit to the editor of the publications. The success of this publication is the result of not only Robert's fine work, but the great job Stephanie Rosenblad does in art and design, and The Baker Press doing quality printing. Kudos to them all!
  11. Let's clear up the confusion. The word DiNoc came from a decal manufacturer in Cleveland, Ohio. I have a phone directory, from 1944 listing it. These were water soluble decals, unlike the crack and peel decals of today. In the forties they were woodgrain - used for dashboards only, the window moldings were grained with rollers. Because of the two processes, that's why you will see a color difference between dashboards and moldings. In the '50's they made more decorative patterns including the five color combinations (checkered pattern) used on the '53 Roadmaster Series, including Skylarks. They also did Cadillac's pyramid design. In the fifties the DiNoc was used on both the dashboard and door moldings. How do I know all this? Not only do I woodgrain cars of the '30's & 40's, but I was the first to produce the DyNoc (I spelled it this way to avoid a possible lawsuit.) I did this twenty years ago - '53 Buick and '54 Cadillac. I don't know who Mr.BCAVP is, but I doubt if it is our current VP Bob Leets, 'cause he isn't a DiNoc expert. Going back to the original request, 46's are woodgrained in closed cars, and I believe, painted to match the car on convertibles. Hope this helps.
Ken Liska
  12. Where is the car located? And how much are you asking for it?
  13. I'm confused. I have two sets of headlights for my '30 Model 44. One set has adjustment screws on the tip, the other does not. Which is correct? And, how do you adjust the headlights if it doesn't have the adjustment screws?
Thanks for your help.
  14. Lee,
Don't have kingpins. Have you tried Bob's Automobilia in CA?
I'm still looking for the front spring (black) that holds the bumpers together. Also large bumperettes, and the base for the windshield for roadster (Model 44). Any leads will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken
  15. Insurance Mark -
How bad do you want one? I have a '37 Model 90 - jump seats, no division window. All original - under 50K miles. Will need engine detailing, a few minor trim parts, and it has a dent in the trunk. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty it would make a great archival car, or driver, or a show winner, depending on how far you want to go. If serious, email me. lizardhd@kua.net
  16. I have dealt with Bob for many years, either at the Buick Nationals or on the phone. All have been good experiences. He has always treated me fairly and provided parts I couldn't get elsewhere. In fact, I wouldn't have been able to finish the '30 Buick Roadster without his help and parts. I feel just the opposite about the Buick Farm.
  17. Do NOT use Horseless Carriage* (aka Useless Carriage). After selling my '53 Roadmaster Convertible, the new owner insisted on the above and made arrangements for pickup. Before the car was even on the transporter the driver had broken the power front seat.
He promised to put the car cover on "up the road" as he had other cars to pick up. Three weeks later the new owner called and said "Where's my car?" HC* had neglected to call him and put the car in a warehouse in New Jersey. Only after he started tracing it, were they able to find it. It was covered, not with the car cover, but three+ weeks of dirt and grime. And this is what $1000 buys you in service?
Just my opinion.
Ken

    Hey Mike -
It's always fun to visit with another Buick enthusiast. Glad to hear you are joining the BCA! Your restaurant suggestion was a good one. Hopefully we will see you again at one of the Buick events. Also - hopefully Speedway Automotive will be a good source for those sportwagon parts you are looking for.
Ken & Paula Liska
  19. Don - Glad you liked the cover. The new art director of the Bugle is a young female that does contemporary work and enjoys cars. The new editor, Robert Snowden, is a car guy! He is trying to appeal to the younger crowd with GS's and GN's, and also please the classic era members. February will appeal to the Buick street rod guys, which should raise some eyebrows! He is trying to appeal to the majority of BCA members. The glossy paper really enhances the photos. And all this for less money than our previous vendors.
Ken - BCA Board Member
20. BUICK: 1937 Series 90. Black. Full classic. Shows 35773 miles. Jump seats (like new), no division window. Interior completely original, normal signs of wear. Probably one repaint in the last 64 years. No pits in chrome, but it has lost its luster. Dent in decklid will need repaired or replaced. Some glass needs replaced. Running boards need recovered. Not a show car, but could easily be an archival car. Will need some mechanical work as it hasn?t been driven in two years. Stored in a garage. Needs someone willing to get their hands dirty to restore this beauty to its former splendor. Serious inquiries only, please. $10,900. 407-933-0202 (days), 407-933-4032 (evenings). lizardhd@kua.net. (FL)

  22. Here I am replying to my own post. Neglected to say 1930 BUICK Model 44 Roadster Parts Needed. Sorry.
  23. Searching for wood spoke two piece chrome hubcaps - hubs and 7 1/2"(?) ring to cover bolts. Also need large center bumperette. Cowl lights. Front spring that holds two piece bumper and is mounted to the frame rails. Leads also appreciated. Thanks for your help. Ken
  24. Just saw your post. Do you still have '30 parts? Need large center bumperette and front heavy spring (black) that bolts to the frame rails and separates the chrome front bumper.
Thanks,
Ken
  25. dhunter41 and John - I'm on the BCA Board of Directors and I couldn't agree with you more. The heat was the only reason I voted against Tucson, AZ for 2002. But we need more input from members who would like to see the dates of the National changed. As for the school issue, how many members really bring their school aged children to the National, and how many BCA members/spouses are teachers are? As to the location of the National, we need qualified Chapters/Regions to bid for them. I'll be honest, it is a tremendous amount of work and responsibility. Anyway - send those cards and letters (and emails) to the Board or to Robert Snowden, Bugle Editor, and let us know your wishes. If enough response is received, hopefully changes will be made. While we're at it - how do you like the "new look" Bugle?
