  1. I WILL GUARANTEE YOU THAT THERE'S NOT BUT 1 IN ALABAMA----I'M TALKING ABOUT DECENT OPERABLE AUTOMOBILE---NOT SCRAP YARDS. FOR 10 YEARS I WENT TO EVERY YARD WITHIN 50 MILES OF BIRMINGHAM AND NEVER FOUND ONE. VERY VERY FEW ITEMS FOR SAME ON E-BAY-----MOSTLY SPINNER HUBS. BEEN IN ABOUT 60 CAR SHOWS IN Al.,MISS., FLA., GA., TENN., AND KY. and NEVER SEEN ONE. I DON'T BELIEVE THERE CAN BE OVER 100 IN THE COUNTRY. crazy.gif

  2. YEAH-----GARY AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL DISCUSSIONS OVER THE YEARS REGARDING THE CARS. HIS DIFFERS FROM MINE IN SEVERAL WAYS. WE DECIDED THAT IT DEPENDED ON WHICH FINAL ASSEMBLY PLANT THE CAR CAME FROM. (LIKE WHETHER THE KNOBS ON THE DASH HAD WHITE IN THE GROOVES AROUND THEM.)

AND MINE CAME WITH THE ACCESSORY OPTION OF CHROME VALVE AND WIRE COVERS. MINE HAS A BREATHER CAP ON THE TOP OF EACH VALVE COVERS. I THINK IT IS BECAUSE IT WAS A VERY LATE PRODUCTION MODEL.

  3. I HAVE OWNED MY 76R SINCE 1970 , HAVE BEEN TO 70 SHOWS INCLUDING 1 BUICK NATIONAL (PICKED UP A 3RD) AND NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE.(IN PERSON---SEEN SEVERAL PICTURES)------AS FAR AS THAT IS CONCERNED I HAVE SEEN ONLY ONE '54 76-R. THEY ARE BOTH FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. I DOUBT MINE IS WORTH WHAT NADA, EDMONDS AND OLD CARS SAYS IT IS. IT IS ABOUT A CLASS 1.2 IN MY JUDGEMENT.

  4. Thanks to both you guys-----I will send him a spare I have.

I had the one on my car rebuilt about 7 years ago and it works----but not very well. I may not be getting enough vacuum to it. I think I have all the lines hooked up properly---using a diagram Roberta was kind enough to send. It may be the switch---I've got a replacement I got on eBay but am afraid to tackle putting it on. In my old age I've gotten too stiff to stand on my head. crazy.gif

  5. NEWPORT WIPERS HAS EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE smile.gif . I ordered $309 worth of stuff from them on their web site. It was my understanding that their wipers would be indistinguishable from the original wipers. They called because they said they always wanted to talk to their customers to avoid misunderstandings. In our discussion it came out that their unit would resemble in no way the original vacuum motor. BAD FOR AUTHENTICITY POINTS. They went on and canceled my transaction. I have had the motor rebuilt but it still doesn't work right. Very spasmodic. I guess I just won't drive much in the rain. frown.gif

  6. Alabama is now allowing vehicles over 25 years old to have tags of the same year as their license plate. I have a perfect 1955 tag to go on myy 1955 76-R----But can't find a frame for it. The Feds mandated in 1957 that all tags be the same size.(12" X 6"). Has anyone been able to find an adjustable frame. I've worn out GOOGLE looking for one.

  7. Has anybody used the electric wipers sold by Classic Buicks for a 1955 Roadmaster?? Or any other 1955. How do they look and work? Will they fool the Judges? How difficult are they to install? Are there other Sources?? Please give me your thoughts and comments.

  8. $96 per yard for patterned nylon and $80 per yard for Waffled Plastic. (All dead rcorrect reproductions. $600 for molded door panels (correct material). $40 per yard for trunk material. $279 for correct carpet. $2100 installation for all of the above. Little over 4 Grand---all done perfectly and correctly for a 1955-76R.

    For gosh sakes don't tell the wife. Joe M. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
