Sailor you said that you have both brackets and I take it that you have found the compressor bracket. If not, check with CARS as they advertise the AC compressor bracket for 1963 to 1966 and it says "All with aluminum valve covers." Their catalog price is $37.50 and part number is CB566.

The finned aluminum valve covers and a chrome air cleaner were part of an engine dress up kit that I have been told were part of a "Dealer" installed option. All of the 1966 Gran Sports had their 401 cube engines painted red instead of the Buick green. The 1966 Wildcat Gran Sport and the Riviera GS also fell into this category.

I was able to locate on this morning at Rancho Riviera. Larry Daisey is still in business doing a great job.

I had this problem with a 1999 Buick Century. I had bought an additional key from Ace Hardware and it was fine until recently when it started lighting the Security light on the dash and on occasion would not start. I sprayed electrical contact cleaner into the key slot and started using one of the original keys and have not had a problem for about a week now. Southern Bumper in College Park Georgia lost the antenna bezel for my 65 Riviera. (: This piece was pit free and I should have left it alone as the chrome was only showing its age a bit. If anyone has one that is pit free I would be interested in purchasing it. Thanks

OK, Christmas is on the way or so the stores are stocking up for it and I need a Super Wildcat air cleaner for my Riv. Anyone need a couple extra bucks for Christmas and willing to unload this air cleaner? No it does not have to be perfect but maybe close? I didn't buy the one at the BCA National in Charlotte in 2012 and have been kicking myself ever since. Thanks

Por-15 is a great product but it can not take UV light. If painted in an area that is exposed to UV light, put a top coat of paint on it. Por-15 works best on bare metal. The Por-15 putty can be used to patch tiny holes and can actually be drilled and tapped as it is very strong. As petelempert said if you have serious rust, cut and weld is the best.

Thanks for the comments and to Steve, I feel the Dynamat made a huge difference in the car. The original sound deadening was loose in a lot of places but the car is now extremely quiet on the expressway. I am still waiting for the antenna bezel to come back from the plater's and I have a couple of small problems to resolve.

Here are some pictures of my Riviera striped down to receive the paint and body work. Then the completed project. One big mistake was putting the green carpet kit instead of black in the trunk but I am very pleased with the rest of the car.

I do not have an installation kit for your wood steering wheel but I can offer some advice to anyone doing this type of installation. Measure the distance from the edge of the hub to the pin that cancels your turn signals on your existing wheel and then measure the same point on the wood wheel. Some of the wood wheels apparently were different but when I installed the wood wheel on my 65 Riv, the first time I turned the wheel it destroyed the horn wire. I had to bend the pin a little (two 45 degrees angles) and luckily I had a spare steering column with that wire. Maybe my steering wheel came from a 66???

The kick down bracket is also very hard to find but I believe that Dick Sweeney is reproducing them. He is on this forum a lot and is a really nice guy. If he is not reproducing them he can probably point you in the right direction. Dick is also reproducing the correct linkage that goes between the two carburetor's if you don't already have that.

I have only seen pictures of Clark's interior carpeting but it appears to be completely pre-cut and all you have to do is put it in place and install your seats and door sill plates. The exception to this is the green carpet. This is NOT a molded carpet but rather cut and sewn to fit the floor board. I have a carpet from the manufacturer who provides OPGI with their carpet. It was a shade lighter than the original dark green but it required a whole lot of cutting to fit.

Steve, you can get the black loop carpet from Clark's Corvair for the trunk. The edges are bound and it fits really well and has a foam backing on the carpet for sound deadening. They also sell the spare tire cover in both a full cover and a half cover of the same carpet.

Clark's Corvair parts is probably the best place that you can buy from. You can also get some really nice trunk carpet kits from them and everything fits great!

I recently purchased the fiberglass rear package tray from Clark's Corvair parts and was very pleased with the fit. It does not come with the mounting holes but that is pretty easy to do. They will cover it with vinyl to match the color of your interior and it also has the jute padding glued to the bottom side. The hardest part for me was to cut the opening for the rear window defogger. When I started the install I noticed the three screw holes below the rear glass were not at the same height from the factory so I marked the package tray with masking tape and drilled new mounting holes.

I had a similar problem with my 1966 Skylark GS and discovered the printed circuit on the back of the instrument cluster had a broken run on it. A real chore to get the instrument cluster out but I was lucky enough to be able to buy a new circuit panel.

This car has been on the Atlanta Craig's List for a long time and I believe they originally wanted $8500 for it. A while back I forwarded this link to a fellow BCA member here in the Atlanta area. I am not sure if he called the owner or went to see it but he told me the A/C components had been removed and were in the trunk. One thing about this forum is the members are a great group of guys and they will not steer you wrong. Good luck on your search for a Rivi!

The spray can top works really well but if you still can't get it remove the bezels around the speedo and warning lights. That will allow your hands a little more room to grip the clock. The two bezels are held in place by one allen screw on the bottom side if I remember correctly.

My 65 has sort of like a "T" handle that you pull and it then allows the reserve vacuum to work the trunk release. The problem with that is if all of your vacuum lines are not up to par, the reserve vacuum goes away after a short time without the engine running. Personally I like the earlier version because it will work no matter how long the car has been sitting. I have replaced all of the lines in my 65 but I don't know how it is going to work yet because the car is not back together yet from having been repainted.

Rich, thanks for posting pictures of your Riv. I purchased my 65 from the second owners estate who purchased the car in 1967. They drove it regularly until his wife damaged the left front fender the latter part of 1986. The second owner then put it in their basement where I found it the end of 2009. The car was seafoam green with the dark green interior but already having a 1966 seafoam green Skylark I decided to go with the Verde green like yours.

As Buick GSX said this has a line that runs inside to the heat and A/C controls. It is fed from a port on top of the intake manifold behind the carburetor. If you have a vacuum trunk release there is a "T" in that line from the intake that goes down to a metal vacuum reservoir on the firewall that is located to the right of the passenger side body mounts. The smaller line from that metal reservoir then has a small line that goes through the firewall to the trunk release. Should you decide to add the trunk release there are dimples in the firewall where you would drill the holes to mount the metal reservoir. Also, check on eBay for the Chassis manual for your car. It has the vacuum diagrams of where all those lines run. It was invaluable when I replaced all of my lines. Keep in mind that to replace all of your lines and if you have the vacuum trunk release you can easily use approximately 75 feet of that small diameter rubber line.
