1. Mine is on the front of dash (can't say firewall anymore at work) on the passenger side, it's typically where folks have mounted them, and I have seen them on inner fenders and under the dash, like behind the glovebox.
------------------
Roberta
BCA TREASURER 2000-2001
BCA PRESIDENT 1998-2000
BCA VICE PRESIDENT 1997-1998
WEBMASTER
Director-Michigan Chapter- Gran Sport Club of America 1989-Present
http://www.geocities.com/buickracer
1956 Special 2 door Sedan
1966 Wildcats
1968 GS-400 Convertible 4-speed
1970 GSX Stage 1
1970 Skylark Racecar - 11.26, 118 MPH, 7/22/00
1986 GN, 4800 miles

 3. Meet dates would be July 11-13 in Kokomo, Indiana (north of Indianapolis). The idea is to try to make this a low-key, affordable meet, to encourage more family participants. There are 10 major hotels with rates from $50 to $86. All activities would be at the Convention Center, with shuttle bus loops between the hotels, the Convention Center, and several area tourist attractions (Automobile Heritage Museum, Grissom Air Museum, Sieberling Mansion).
4. I have lots of stuff, like I said in the email but need exactly what you need to be able to help, as some of it has to be reserved for my '68's, 400 convertible 4-speed and GS350 4-speed. 8. Ken, there were some here in Flint, they put on the sides grand national, stickers, I have a picture of one, it was white with red letters, UGLY. It was at a dealer show outside at autoworld, all it was was stickers and I thought the dealer did it never heard of any other distinctions, RV
 9. Russ, I think it was red. I didn't see it, and I think it was from Glens Falls, and I think it might have been yours at one time, the guy was working on a '70 LeSabre and was using the wildcat for parts. I'm trying to keep up with what Chris is doing but you can never tell what is he will do next! Roberta
 10. Hey, try http://www.performanceyears.com
 11. Sounds like the battery is being "overcharged" thus boiling the water out, check the voltage regulator and make sure you are getting 13.8 volts and not 14.5 or more, and open or shorted regulator can cause the overcharge. You can adjust the regulator to the correct voltage by taking the cover off and turn the adjustment screw to get the proper setting. The only other thing that can cause this is a bad cell in the battery, will cause the rest of the battery to go dry. Hope that helps!
------------------
Roberta
BCA TREASURER 2000-2001
BCA PRESIDENT 1998-2000
BCA VICE PRESIDENT 1997-1998
WEBMASTER
Director-Michigan Chapter- Gran Sport Club of America 1989-Present http://www.geocities.com/buickracer
1956 Special 2 door Sedan
1966 Wildcats
1968 GS-400 Convertible 4-speed
1970 GSX Stage 1
1970 Skylark Racecar - 11.26, 118 MPH, 7/22/00
1986 GN, 4800 miles
[This message has been edited by BUICK RACER (edited 12-13-2000).]
 12. Here's the actual press release, and it is a scary inticator of what is up with GM, and I work for them and didn't have a clue that this was coming til I read it today!

FOR RELEASE: December 12, 2000
CONTACT(S):
Gus Buenz
(313) 667-2634
General Motors Announces Phase-Out of Oldsmobile

Detroit, Mich. - GM announced today that the Oldsmobile Division will be phased out over the next few years.
In making the announcement, GM President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner and Executive Vice President and President North America Ron Zarrella said that despite major investments over the past few years that resulted in critically acclaimed new Oldsmobile products, the division was still unprofitable and its sales volume continued to erode.
?We stretched to find profitable ways to further strengthen the Oldsmobile product line, including developing products with our global alliance partners, but in the current environment, there was no workable solution,? said Wagoner.
Wagoner added this has been a very difficult and painful decision because of the history of the Oldsmobile division. ?It is the oldest automotive brand in America with a history that is rich with innovation and success stories, including dozens of legendary cars, and over the years it was one of the jewels in the General Motors? crown,? he said.
?In recent years, we have made major investments in new products for Oldsmobile ? significant capital and engineering resources ? in an effort to re-position Oldsmobile in the market,? Zarrella said. ?Even with the introduction of several great new products, the brand?s sales and profit performance remain under pressure.?
A dramatically changing North American automotive landscape is driving GM to focus its resources even more sharply on growth opportunities and on making the entire brand portfolio more effective in the marketplace. That means a portfolio dominated by innovative products with shorter lifecycles.
?I want to assure you that we are very sensitive to the concerns and needs of the Oldsmobile customer,? Zarrella said. ?We will work together with our Oldsmobile dealers to provide for a smooth and orderly business transition.?
A call center has been established in Detroit to address dealer questions and capture dealer concerns for resolution. In addition, a transition team will be located in each of the company?s five regions to address dealer concerns and inquiries. A dedicated team will work on an individual basis with all dealers involved to facilitate a smooth and orderly transition.
The company will also work with Oldsmobile dealers so those customers continue to receive quality service and parts. If there is any change in Oldsmobile representation in a customer?s area, service and parts will be made available through another GM dealer.
There will be several customer care initiatives beginning with a special 1-800 number for Oldsmobile owners. As valued members of the General Motors family, they will have the benefit of the largest and one of the most responsive customer care networks in the industry to address their concerns.
In addition, recent Oldsmobile customers will be provided a certificate of at least $1,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new Oldsmobile or other GM vehicles.
Regarding Oldsmobile employees, Zarrella said that the dedication exhibited by the Oldsmobile team has been exemplary. ?This is why we will work hard to provide opportunities for these valued employees to stay in the GM family,? said Zarrella.
?While this is a difficult decision, we believe that in the long run, it is the right thing to do to increase GM?s competitiveness, profitability and growth, Zarrella said.?
MORE ABOUT OLDSMOBILE:
Oldsmobile: An Industry Leader for 100 Years
Did You Know . . .
Twelve Significant Oldsmobiles

 13. You are answering your own posts now, huh Buick Guru, say bye bye, and go back to work building airplanes, we don't need your kind here!
 14. There were some trucks made in 1915-18, but they don't show up in the records, there were a few others made out of cars, and/or export bodys. The Sloan Museum has 2 Buick trucks, and all the Buick records/archives are stored there. Try contacting them if you have a particular interest at sloan@tir.com
17. WEll, you will find some more interesting things about 455 water pumps in a minute. There are 2 types of impellers too, one with 3 blades and one with 5 blades, I'm not sure if one is steel and the other aluminum, I'd have to go scout them out in the basement.
The ac/non-ac are different to accomodate the pulley alignment to the AC, the AC one is quite a bit wider, sticks out more.
most recommend using the 5 blade impeller pushes more volume of course. Some of the rebuilders use the 3 blade most often, but if you have a GM version, they usually have 5 blades. There was an article about this in the Riviera Owners Assoc. magazine a couple of years ago about this, I doubt I can find my copy, but maybe someone on here has it handy. Hope that helps, alittle. Roberta
 18. Just a note that, one more '70 wildcat convterible bit the dust today, my brother, acquired one in Buffalo, that was not restorable, and it went to the junkyard, he kept what he could for the 2 convertibles he has though!
Not sure when he will be ready to sell any parts. email me if you need anything.
------------------
Roberta
BCA TREASURER 2000-2001
BCA PRESIDENT 1998-2000
BCA VICE PRESIDENT 1997-1998
WEBMASTER
Director-Michigan Chapter- Gran Sport Club of America 1989-Present
http://www.geocities.com/buickracer
1956 Special 2 door Sedan
1966 Wildcats
1968 GS-400 Convertible 4-speed
1970 GSX Stage 1
1970 Skylark Racecar - 11.26, 118 MPH, 7/22/00
1986 GN, 4800 miles

 20. Look at the TA Performance or Kenne-Bell 118 for the street, it's slightly hotter than the stock stage 1 cam, for the racer, you really need to think about how fast you want to go, and what gears you are going to use, and what other hi-po stuff, intake, rocker arms etc you are going to use, it's not rocket science, but you have to make sure that you have the thought this out. Check out the Gran Sport Club of America web page at http://www.buickgsca.com there a GS tech discussion page, that is excellent reading, for ideas.
------------------
Roberta
BCA TREASURER 2000-2001
BCA PRESIDENT 1998-2000
BCA VICE PRESIDENT 1997-1998
WEBMASTER
Director-Michigan Chapter- Gran Sport Club of America 1989-Present
http://www.geocities.com/buickracer
1956 Special 2 door Sedan
1966 Wildcats
1968 GS-400 Convertible 4-speed
1970 GSX Stage 1
1970 Skylark Racecar - 11.26, 118 MPH, 7/22/00
1986 GN, 4800 miles
 21. Hey guys, even though I am the Moderator I have no access to your passwords. But may I ask what web browser you are using, if you are using an old version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or maybe the unexciting Netscape, that may be your problem. I have told that to others that have had similar problems and when they upgraded their browser software the problem went away, so that it what I suspect is the problem, not the discussion page software.
