  1. Got plenty of room!!! By the way, I just recieved a bunch of tour photos this morning. Hopfully will get some of them online this evening.
  2. Andrea has informed me that since I helped on the tour, assisted the tour from getting lost (not refering to Wayne or Matt) I can now take her on the same tour. Baddgett Sisters Pkwy here I come. Doing 55-60 on that road makes VIR look like a round track!!
  3. At an AACA Region meet it is up to them how to handle this, but my belief is this car, once it is 25 years old or older would fall under the Second generation vehicle class which is a new class as of this year and a lot of people/regions aren't fimialiar with it yet. Cars I know of in this class are the Shay Model A, and the Avanti II. There are others but I've forgot the names. the one catch to this class is it has to be factory production. Example, a Shay Model A that was built at the factory is allowed, but if you bought it as a kit and put it together in your backyard, it is not. For a national meet you must submit your vin to have it validated as to wether the car was factory built or sold as a kit. (yes, the records are available from people assocatied with these companies)
  4. Mom's '07 Impala has a thing that shows if it is running on 6 or 3 cyl. Apparently she got tired of not seeing it switch to 3 for her, it's been switched to a different type reading (trip).
  5. There will be more photo from the tour available shortly. I'm redoing the 08 Sentiemtnal Tour website into a "what happened on the tour" site. 08 Sentimental Tour site There will be video included.
  6. Wayne, That oldster that won the youngster award stil is an oldster to this younger AACA oldester. He's got six years on me.
  7. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">To be truthful David, it's a little depressing to me to see famous cars left out in the elements like that Godfather car. The car board signs have moisture damage on them and it would have been better if it was inside a museum somewhere. </div></div> Agreed.
  8. Wayne, this is the one I figured you'd post.
  9. Matt, I'm willing to up there and video that road to share with people. I figured that some people would love me for that streach of road while other would be putting me on thier hit list. That use to be the HWY 62, main road from burlington in to yanceyville. You didn't get to drive the complete raod due to a bridge being out. The alternate route to get you this road, got closed down a few days before the tour with the DOT taking out another bridge so we had to re-re-write the driving instructions. And to add to the confusion a lot of people had, the orginal route was Oak View Loop Rd., then instead of when you turned onto Alvis Boswell road, you would have continued straight onto Oakview Loop Rd. then made a right onto Baddget Sister's Pkwy. Writing instruction was really intresting doue to the number of roads that change names in the middle of the road, at an intersection it is one thing on the right another on the left. Here is a satalite look at the road.
  10. At a national meet, I would think this car might be a canidate for the Second Generation Vehicle class and something our folks should be made aware of (if they aren't already) so they can aquire the documention needed for when these cars are 25 years old.
  11. Wait until tomorrow (Thurs), Jim might change his mind! It's a little more than a deep ditch if you run off the road.
  12. Wayne, I could have made it but wanted to take it easy on your car. It is one thing to launch a 6,000 lbs truck off some of those bumps we hit at 65 mph compared to doin' it in a '55 Chevy. Your wife would be fussin' at you and we're tryin' to keep them (the wives) happy.
  13. Some of us are just way too busy at the moment. Rate things are going at the moment, I might be bald by the time the Sentimental Tour starts. Why do they instead on doing bridge and road repairs during the summer? I 'm starting to believe they have an informant on our committee telling them where we are going so they plan work for there. Looking forward to seeing those that are coming on the tour. Everyone should have a good time and get to see some interesting things in the area.
  14. 10 day forcast for the Sentimental Tour - Burlington, NC Pack for hot, humid and possible rain. Those on the tour, I'll see ya in three days!
  15. ShopRat don't forget this is a eveluated class not point scored. To be honest, even having a car in that class, I'm not sure if you can or not. I would suggest writing to the VP of class judging and see. Worse case will be an answer of "no". With the sheets being fill out with percentages in the different categories then divided for a total average, I'm kind of doubtful they give it.
  16. list of events, dining, schedule, etc.
  17. The Pontiac Fiero has a preety good following so I'm sure althought they were only made for 4 years, you'll see some of them starting next year at AACA meets.
  18. I didn't need an application, I was pre-approved. Just corrected an error by the good Lord when he sent the stork. I'm now on the CORRECT side of the line! It just took me 21 years to get here.
  19. I've got some photos I need to resize and get posted yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get to them tonight.
  20. I had a chevy II that both rear quarters were filled with snake skins. Glad I didn't find a live snake!
  21. I think the hardest thing to teach someone is to back up using mirrors.
  22. I'm glad I replaced the trunk gasket on my Chevy II. With the rain we had over night I probably would have needed a bilge pump!! Definatly would have needed it parked nosed down on the show field. Heck, the little drizzle we had would have leak in parked that way w/ the old gasket.
  23. Pat and Steve, I'll see you guys in Cumberland!!
  24. I got to meet Dawn and her husband. Saw Shoprat in the chow line at judge's breakfast. Saw Wayne Friday at the hotel when my parents and I arrived. The only things I saw that they could have improved on was the food for judge's breakfast could have been warmer and the weather. But I don't think they had any control over the latter. Overall, I think it was a great show, has a great time and can't wait for next year!!
  25. I'll be there. Blue '63 Chevy II in HPOF. Mom will have a light blue '66 Coronet also in HPOF. I'll be judging then taking photos for the newsletter, so won't be around the car much.
