1. Deal could also include a nice set of 14 x 7 Buick road wheels with BFG rubber.
2. Here's a thought: Anybody out there with a '71-'76 Electra who might be interested in a trade? Looking for a clean one, rust-wise,in good mechanical shape, body and interior condition secondary. Hmmm?
3. Thanks for the suggestion, Bill. I've thought about that more than once, but I've seen a few comparable Sportwagons on ebay, and they really don't seem to get any bidders. I guess it's just a really specialized item, in terms of who'll want it. Maybe if it had some wood on it..... Best, Steve
4. ttttttt. This is a GREAT car, station wagons are hot! Comprehensive info and pictures on request. Will help with transport and flex on price. Need to move this car! Don't want to take it apart! Guys??
5. Dark blue, good, solid, functioning, complete shape for restoration or parts. Comprehensive info and pictures available by e-mail. "Bueller?.......Bueller?....."
6. ttt. How about parts interest, anybody? Nice front clip potentially available, you '65 GS guys!
7. Once more with feeling; this car has been a bridesmaid many times, but.... Loaded, solid South Carolina car, running and driving, complete. Have to find this car a new home or start parting, but it's way too nice for that, guys! Comprehensive info and pictures available by e-mail. Asking $2,900.00/obo. Serious inquiries only, please. M-O-T-I-V-A-T-E-D! Steve Robin SBRMD@AOL.COM 763-545-8646
8. Posting for a friend in Minneapolis, MN: two-door hardtop, teal, no vinyl roof, Buick 350, running, good interior, rust in the usual spots but no perforations. Complete. He will deliver in the metro Mpls/St. Paul area. $600.00; call 612-598-1963, ask for Jim or Dan (that's their phone #, not mine - don't call or e-mail me, because I don't have anything to do with this one, just posting for them)
9. Grisha: Welcome to the forum! This is the place for you. For other links of interest, including links to various sources for parts, go to the Buick Club of America Home page (www.buickclub.org), check the left margin for "other links of interest" and click on it for a list. In addition, three more good ones are www.buickgod.com, www.wheatbeltbuick.com, and the Buick Farm (I don't have the actual web address for that one). Where'd you get that 1960 Buick? "Choroshow"! And, in the interest of multi-language understanding, "wheelbarrow" is an english term for a small hand-cart that one uses to haul around garden items, like plants and dirt! Let's reserve that Buick for hauling people and other clean (well, mostly clean) things! Best regards, Steve.
10. Well, Kelsey, I understand where you're coming from. It is a rare and beautiful car. The thing about pictures, as I'm sure you must be aware, is that there's parts and then there's parts. What do all of us out here in cyberland know about the quality of all these parts. Is the pot metal pitted? Is the sheet metal creased or rotted? Is the plastic crazed? I think it's very tough to sell stuff to people when they can't see it. Having said all that, I'd like to talk to you about th project further. Please e-mail or call me. Best regards, Steve SBRMD@AOL.COM 763-545-8646
11. Kelsey: Can't you maybe borrow a digital camera, shoot a few of the car and parts, and post them on your website? Best, Steve.
12. Hey Greg. I think the '64 armrests must be the same as the '65. It makes a difference whether you have the base or custom interior trim model. Mine is a '65 model 44465 (custom trim), and I believe the armrests in the front doors are the same as a Skylark, but those in the rear doors must be longer than those n the sedan, as the doors are longers. The rears do indeed have ashtrays in them. I'm guessing off the top of my head that the base-trim armrests correlate the the Chevy Impala. Best, Steve
13. NTX: Would very much like to get the details on the guy who did the '49 Roadmaster. Would you please drop me an e-mail on this? SBRMD@AOL.COM Thanks in advance, Steve
14. Very interesting! Is it possible for you to post the pictures? I've never seen such an animal. This sounds like the '70 Estate Wagon, although the '70 production model had posts and was built on a 124" wheelbase.
15. $42,000.00?? AND freight to haul back from Europe? While you could buy a comparably equipped, new Suburban with a warrantee and 0.0% interest for $10,000 less?? Come on! Get real!
16. According to Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975: 1949 Buick Special 4-dr Model 41: Shipping Weight = 3695 lbs. Wheelbase = 121.0 inches Overall Length = 207.5 inches Enjoy! Steve.
17. Thanks, Mike, but I think they have to be from a GS or Sportwagon that used the heavy-duty rear, I believe there are more splines on the heavy duty axle shafts.
Stll looking...
18. Need left rear axle shaft for 3.08 posi heavy-duty rear end in my Sportwagon, which I understand is same rear end (w/ various gears) used by '65 GS.
Thanks in advance,
Steve.
SBRMD@AOL.COM
19. NOS in original boxes, found in glove compartment of my '49 Roadmaster and can't use these beauties, dagnabbit! Group #9.947, part#'s 1340236 and 1340237. $150.- plus shipping/ins. Please e-mail with interest.
Steve.
SBRMD@AOL.COM
20. anybody? how about all you electra guys out there?
21. Appreciate your input, boxman, however, it does not answer the questions posed. It's a given that the chassis changed in '71. My questions are:
a. why does a '69 electra have a different wheelbase than a '70 electra?
b. since a '71 and up has the same wheelbase as a '70, could you mount a '70 body on a '71 and up chassis? could you do the same with a '69? what of that 1" difference? why does it exist?
Steve.
22. The two are obviously the same body, however the Standard Catalogue of American Cars gives the '69 wheelbase at 126" and the '70 at 127". What accounts for the difference? And, the '71-'76 chassis is listed at 127"; would the later chassis mate to a '70 body? How about, therefore, to a '69 body?
Steve.
