  1. Maybe try Cadillac sources? Should be the same. There's a place called Cadillacs of the 1940's, I think in California...
  2. You're right, I was mostly referring to '49's, but also reflecting on the Roadmaster always being up front, 48 and 49, and not Dynaflow. I think in '48, Dynaflow was just on trunk lenses, but nevertheless to the rear. Also, referencing another comment above, in '49 if you had Dynaflow, you got rear fender badges and Dynaflow trunk lenses. Trunk lenses saying Buick Eight were only for stick cars.
  3. A lot of people have switched the locations over the years for whatever reason, giving rise to confusion. But the correct locations are Roadmaster to front, Dynaflow to the rear.
  4. 215 is standard and 225 is the upgrade size. So certainly no rub with those. Just want to know if anyone has used 235 and gotten any rubs.
  5. Recently acquired one, tires are old. Factory tire is 215/75-15, diameter 27.7 inches. Considering upsizing to 235/75-15, diameter 28.9. Anybody with experience here? Interested in comments for any full size Buick 1980-85, I think they'd all apply, probably 1977-79 too. Outside of the obvious speedometer error, I'd like to know if people experience any rubbing, etc. Seems to me that the wheel wells are quite roomy. Thanks to all in advance
  6. John, did you take any pictures of the crack and the split? I'd like to see what those look like.
  7. Maybe the question is better asked this way: what is the first year that Buicks cames from the factory with tubeless tires?
  8. My question is referring more to the rim design change that was to accommodate tubeless tires. I currently have modern tubeless wide white radials mounted on the original 15 x 6 wheels of my '49 Roadmaster. Never a problem, but I wonder about it, reading peoples' opinions about it online. And my wide whites are nearing replacement age, so thinking maybe I should use different wheels. Of course, the original hubcaps require clips, so that narrows wheel choice. Someone local to me advertises a set of '57 wheels....wondering if the change in the bead area design was in effect by then.
  9. This subject has been discussed numerous times and is somewhat controversial. Here is my specific question: what year is the "cut-off"? In other words, what year Buick wheels included the bead design that is considered "modern"?
  10. I saw one mounted once, it didn't strike me as too usable. The "King Bee" style mirrors seem like a much better idea, I think I'm going to mount those. Bonus: no holes drilled !
  11. Going to go look at one, what code should I look for? And....the package includes posi, right? G80? And while we're at it: where is the SPID sticker? Inside the spare tire cover maybe? Thanks in advance.
  12. That is an outstanding rare car, and believe me, as one who is just finishing up a restoration of a similar one, it's worth every penny! Weatherstripping on the passenger door appears to be missing.
  13. My car is in the highly recommended and experienced (ie elderly) hands of a private local upholsterer. I've seen his work, and it's beautiful. Here's the downside: not many neurons to begin with, and maybe losing a few more, and not a very good communicator. So, I'm running around sourcing stuff that I thought he would take care of, like sew foam, burlap, etc. I've got just about everything. But the last thing is the edging or binding, that trims the carpets, goes around the edges of the sunvisors, and is found in a few other places. He called it "windlace" but I think his mind slipped a gear-tooth when he did, and he was not otherwise helpful in giving me direction. It appears to be a vinyl tape-style "carpet binding". Do any of you know where to source this? I've seen it at a couple of local fabric/upholstery houses around the Twin Cities (and on their websites) but can't find it in appropriate shades. Any ideas welcome! Thanks in advance.
  14. Hi Jeff. Also interested. May I please also see the photo set requested by Gary? Thanks, -Steve.
  15. About 22 years. Came from Kentucky, bought from second owner who had since 1954. It appeared at that time as in my avatar photo.
  16. Thanks! It's a Flint-built Roadmaster, original paint code 01, and original interior code 70. It's headed for the upholstery shop, and only in the trailer because the salt has already made an appearance in Minnesota.
