  1. Just grab one end of the ring and spring it open and slip it off the tire. The cover has a spring loaded door just below center. Push it in and there is a lug nut holding the cover to the mounting post.
  2. Mark, I have many of those 35 hubcaps but all damaged in some way. John McCall reproduces them. I bought new ones from him. I really needed President ones but could not find good enough ones to replate. Did one "The President" one for the spare in back and used the commander ones on the ground until I find good ones. The reproductions are very good. John bought the inventory and dies from Lionel Stone.
  3. Auto machine of St Charles has rebuilt 4 President 8 s for me. They even did the Peking to Paris Victoria motor for me. Price varies. Between 5 to 9K.
  4. Post this on the drivers club forum. You will get better response. They are into that vintage. Are any of these cars the Golden Hawk? http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/forumdisplay.php?6-General-Studebaker-Specific-Discussion

  6. Those are rare hubcaps. You should advertise in the club magazine. 98% of the club members don't check the internet and especially ebay.
  7. They have wood grain. Two different patterns of grain. Usually medium to dark brown. As Dick Quinn for some factory photos.

  13. I believe Bob Burk in Arizona reproduced them. You will need 10 left and 10 right hand threads. They have a L or R cast on the end.
  14. John Cislak makes the best ones and is fairly priced.
  15. Are the Reviews late? the mail ; or am I just impatient? Commander Dave, If you want more Stude reading material I handle the back issues for the club. They are 3.00 per issue and lower for larger orders. I have back issues going all the way back to the late seventies. studerex@aol.com
  16. These are being reproduced . Contact Rex Miltenberger. He hangs around here by the handle REX. Robert Kapteyn These are reproduced By Nyal Weaver. Email me for Nyals email address.
  17. It is approximately 1/4 inch, maybe 3/16. They were mostly the same at all positions in 1939. If you want to be exact, look up the part number and order the print from the museum.
  18. I use 1/4 or 5/16 rubber. You can buy it from McMaster carr in 2 or 3 inch wide strips. On pre 34 cars or open cars you might have to use different thickness in different locations because the body fit can be effected. I have done many body off jobs and never seen old tire pads. I have seen welting material and felt before. You can use the welt but it gets expensive. studebakerclassics.com
  19. Gary The casting date is April 10th 1930. J is calendar year 1930. Those are rare fuel pumps. The Stewart warner were use on many classic cars in the early 30s. But the more available ac will fit. Classic and exotic restorations in michigan reproduces the base. I think I have some spares. I'll contact you when I locate it.
  20. Insert bearings started in 35 on the president and commander. Don't know if early motors can be converted but that's a mute point anyway because the bearings are impossible to find.
  21. I have asked for photos numurous times and offered to have someone stop by twice to check it out. Been interested for months and just won't buy a car when I can't get photos or have someone check it out.
