  1. They went to insert rods in 47 or 48. Stude sold a rod kit to upgrade the earlier motors to inserts. The rods and bearings can be found but not plentiful. The motor was increased to a 245 and used until 1960.
  2. Those side mounts lock brackets were not chrome plated. Just the bolt cover as in Marks photo.
  3. I have a couple of key code books, but don't know if it goes back to 1925. I also have a locksmiths Studebaker key set, with over 100 different numbers. I will check for st 348.
  4. Gary Walters is the model 54 guy in our club. He still has a couple roadsters and a sedan he has owned since high school. He may have some spare parts or know where to get them. Nice to see someone still understanding there is effort required in chasing down parts and leads.
  5. Contact Mike Lenyo in Mishawaka. I believe he knows the history of your car.
  6. What years, body style and condition president are you looking for.
  7. Doug you missed a auction in your area. http://gpsold.com/auction/don-and-carolyn-wells-living-estate-auction/ I made the trip. Don had parted out 4 35s. They did a poor job of advertising and weren't car people doing the auction. Things went cheap. Alot went to scrappers. Send a photo of the door latches you need. I got some at the auction. Also stuben, I got the rear panel and trunk lid that has some latches and trim pieces. It might be what you need. Rex studebakerclassics.com
  8. Is this Doug Purdy? The gas filler grommet is available from Tom Shrock. The tail light rubber can just be cut from flat stock.
  9. Also ford used a similar one and they might work. They are reproduced and reasonably priced.
  10. That is two piece bird. The wings are pined on. To do a show job it will have to come apart and be quality plated to fit back together. Most platers put on the copper heavy and the wings may not fit again. A real good plater might do it together. That ornament was reproduced some years ago but I haven't seen them available in a while. I have a NOS one and a show plated one in my collection.
  11. Floyd Quinnel had them made for the 31 president. That has a 20 gallon tank. It may be too long for the 28. There is one on ebay now or Floyd may still have some. He had about 10 made.
  12. A pair of 32 commander ones just ended on ebay. Didn't sell. Do a search.
  13. Dale, is there a hole in the dash to mount the president tag? The early ones had a decal/sticker. The later ones were metal with a stud to mount to the dash. If you have the hole then the metal tag is the same all the way to 1935 and will be easier to find. If the decal then you will have to have it made.
  14. Sounds like a bad coil, but do you have overdrive? If so the kickdown switch might be grounding.
  15. 2K is cheap. Jump on it or give me the info.
  16. Look at that 8 track player. That dates the time it was last on the road.
  17. When I did the Peking to Paris President I added a fuel cell for longer distance. I used one of these sending units and was very impressed with how it worked. http://www.fuelsafe.com/catalog/Page-30.html
  18. Shakers is good. They have done many motors for me. Have him remove the shims and see if they can be resized. If not have them babbited without using shims.
  19. Did you take it to Kaleys? They should be able to get the babbiting done for you, and align bore the mains.

  21. I just spoke with John about your mat. It has been done for almost a year and he has been waiting to hear from you. He said he was to deliver it to the Colorado meet but your schedule changed. He said he will ship it out. When you or anyone needs to contact John, email him at studebaker22668@msn.com He just made one for another member Tom Lewis. A brown one that you can see on his facebook site j m studebaker. That one was ordered and made in a reasonable time. John is not always reliable on delivery times, but won't cheat anyone out of their money. I have bought many parts from him. Rex
