If the radiator cap is good , it may be that you are filling the rad too full. The next time it loses coolant leave it alone and see if it stops discharging fluid.

The Hobby has evolved into something other than what it was when I got into it !!! I still enjoy the people, and the cars, but not the emphasis some people put on on correctness. Many of the "Trailer Queens are NOT properly restored, but the money invested in them seems to get all the attention!!! Drive them and enjoy what you have !!
Back to the Bricks is 2 weeks of fun , and all it costs is the price of the gas you burn ! The people cruise the roads, so you can park and watch the cars .
