  1. I was just talking with a person with a 71 Buick Skylark for sale. Claims it has a engine that was found in only approximately 20 cars. A 350 4 barrel carb. Something about a red or blue (she couldn't remember which). Is there anything to this? Is this car worth pursuing (engine is original to car)? thanks
  2. Wow, what wrong side of the bed did you get up on? First off I didn't fall for the scam, I am not stupid I went to school in another state. What I was saying is I know, they know everyone knows this is a scam, but no one is willing to do anything to stop them. Some people have no idea how the scam works, and to what lengths these people go to make it work. Certified checks are being used fraudulently more and more, but banks will still "credit" the amount to your account in a couple days, even though the check has not cleared the bank the check was supposedly written on, some of these checks end up traveling from federal reserve to federal reserve and might take 2 months to find out the check is no good. All the while some person sees the money in their account and figure it has cleared. Then this person goes through with it and bam 1-2 months later they find out they not only lost the money, but the car was gone as well. Police don't care unless you actually lost something, when if they reacted to the situation at the point of the transaction them might actually catch someone without the person losing money and cars. Yeah I know, everyone says its someone elses problem, and all the while these guys continue to rip off the unsuspecting.
  3. It is really sad, and what makes you even more angry is no one seems to care about this stuff. Not the web providers, not the police. I guess they are to busy setting traps for pedophiles to be bothered with simple grand theft. So it just goes on and on.
  4. Just thought I would say watch yourself advertising on hemmings, so far I have had 3 different people try the out of country scam on me. This is where they want to send a certified check and have YOU pay the shipper etc.
  5. After studying why it was not working I concluded that the nut had not been put on tight enough when they were replaced a few years back, after tightening it as well as I could it seems to be working. All I can say is who ever did the engineering on this part should be flogged. It is just plain bad. Oh and for those of you who have this problem getting the headlights up can be a bit tricky. Finally I turned the lights on, "helped" the offending light up, then unhooked the battery cable, they stayed up, work was easy. My ac-heater module came in so now my "short" is gone and the a/c works perfectly again. So now I can put it up forsale.
  6. well I am fixing it to sell, so I don't want to spend a whole bunch of money, I just want it to work.
  7. as I tell people its not a spelling error its a computer problem, an inability for the monitor to properly interpet the ascii string being sent.
  8. I took my headlight apart and its very apparent the problem, the slot in the bell crank is not catching anything. The motor spins, works fine, but its just spinning as the flattened part of the shaft is not working as designed. I had downloaded and studied the drawings of reatta.net but I don't have the tools to do this. Where might I find someone that has already fixid this part and sells them fixed? Or someone that has made the washers and sells them? thanks depley
  9. because at the time I took the pictures the battery cable had been disconnected waiting on the heater/ac control module to come. Which has been replaced. And I did not reset the date or anything yet.
  10. 89 Reatta 150K miles, outside excellent, inside very clean seats great. Tires like new. Just passed tough Atlanta Emmisions, converted r134 a/c. needs drivers side headlight fixed, cassette fixed and probably new speakers. 16 way seats. White with blue interior. Need the garage space for wife's new car. I feel like in the condition it is in that its worth $3500. But I am a realist too, so I figure $2200?? Pictures http://depley.home.mindspring.com/reatta/reatta.htm
  11. thanks so very much, and its mine so I will take care with the plastic retainers lol
  12. this is the module that you have to evacuate the a/c, remove a ton of stuff to get to? (page 1B1-9 heater and a/c module of the service manual)
  13. I ran the diagnostic thing. After entering it pops up ECM then after that appears to "history" items which are B552 and C553 anyone know what those mean? never mind I figured that out, I have unhooked the battery :-)
  14. Here is what I know. I have a short somewhere. My thinking is its in the heating system. Why? becasue when you have the car off and look at the climate control panel on the screen the fan is shown to be still moving, but I can not hear the fan at any speed, but still as you change or even turn off the controls the scren shows the fan moving. Any ideas what to look at? thanks
  15. what diagram are you looking at? it this a certain page in theservice manual? if so which page? thanks
  16. did you ever find out the problem? I think its the same one my car is having.
  17. I have always wondered if anyone out there has taken a really close look at the T-bird. If you do you will see that it does not have its roots in the old 55-57 t0bird other than the port hole. The rest of the car looks almost exactly like a 1954 Corvettte. The front grill the rear tail lights. If you don't believe me put a picture of each side by side, it will be so obvious its not funny!
  18. I hear you, I am about to the point of parting mine out. I have advertised it here for $1800, it does have a electrical short which I just have not take in to get fixed, but the thing is in beautiful shape. No rust no dents the interior is in fine shape. I have seen people willing to pay $700 just for the vent windows. that is $1400 just for those, would not take much more to make it worth more to part out.
  19. Last time before I take it in to get the short fixed. 89 White reatta with blue interior. see at http://depley.home.mindspring.com/reatta.htm located in Atlanta GA area, car has 150K miles on it. It has an electrical short that I just have not had time to take into shop to get repaired. Wife was driving it daily till then, it has been her baby. Car is in excellent condition, paint shiny except plastic area around back bumper is a bit faded. Glass all in good condition (original vent windows). Interior very nice except for wearing on driver side arm rest. Of course the tape player does not work, but it has been converted to R134A. Tires are excellent, no rust ever, never been wrecked, a couple of very small door dings, hardly visible unless you get them in just the right light. need headlight motor repair on one side, other side works perfectly. Never have had, since we bought it in 1993, the remote door locks, so no idea if they work. It does have 16 way driver seat. If you have any other questions email me at depley@mindspring.com As is, you fix the short I will take $1800, if I fix the short and the headlight motor $4000 (this does not reflect any info or prices on repair costs) I need half of my garage back for the wife's new car, and she is not taking my side! My 72 GMC sprint stays in the garage darn it! this offer for as is $1800 will only be in effect for the next week to 2 weeks so if you are interested act now. Price is firm

    89 forsale

Well time has come for my wife to part with her well loved 1989 white reatta. She has loved this car since we bought it back in 1993. She has managed to put almost 100,000 miles on it herself (now has 150,000) Has current GA emissions, exterior is is very nice shape, paint glossy, has one very small door ding on drivers side (about nickel size) one small ding on the hood ( front lip just left of center) and the rear plastic above the bumper has a small bit of paint fade. one headlight does not want to popup (will with a little help) Interior no rips other than the drivers side arm rest, blue interior. Cassette player not working (same problem as 90% of them) runs great, drives great. have gotten 31 mpg on the highway with it. A/C is converted to r-134 the bad, it has developed an electrical short (crt reported it) and I either have to take it in for repair or sell it as is, if I fix it the price goes up. Has never been in an accident. I figured I would offer it here to people who love and cherish these cars before I put in on ebay. I will accept any reasonable offer. I will take some pictures this weekend and put them online. Car is located in Acworth Georgia. you can call me at 770-975-7189 or email me your offer at depley@mindspring.com (I did get my wife's ok to do this :-)
  24. My wife is thinking with the 0% financing about a new car. I cannot believe she might be ready to give up her baby. She has loved this car since 1993 when we bought it.<P>Been a great car, course maintanence is maybe above average in cost, but the car is above average in looks!<P>Will keep you posted if it does come up forsale!<P>She has always said she felt like hot sh*t driving it lol, she loves it when people ask what kind of new car it is and then tell them its a 12 YO Buick, blows their minds!<P>well off to bed, car hunting tomorrow!
  25. I ditto the door panels, seeing as Reatta drivers side panels seem to be the ones that end up disintegrating!<P>I would buy a blue one!
