  1. Thanks Mike for the location of the RKE receiver on the convertible. The grounding wire on my wifes '90 convertible was still located near the EBCM. It was working and then quit so I tried programming 4 different transmitters and none of them would operate the system during the programming proceedure. When grounding the green connector the doors locked and unlocked like they were supposed to but none of the transmiters would work. I will try a new receiver an start over again. I still need to know where the grounding connector is located on a '91 coupe.
  2. Having bougtht 34 Reattas I see I still don't know much about them. Can anyone tell me where the RKE receiver is located on a convertible and can anyone tell me where the connector is located on a '91 to program the RKE. My wifes '90 convertible the RKE receiver quit and I want to replace it. On my 91 I needed to program the RKE and the green connector is not near the EBCM like on the '89-90s. Thanks, Jim

    one-eyed Reatta

I hate to say it but I think they did see the sign, just kidding but you did get ripped off. All 89-91 Reattas already have keyless entry and all you would have to have done is get a transmitter. There are two possible problems with your headlights. Inside the gear box are 3 rubber/delron rollers. These rollers disintegrate after a while and need to be replaced. They cost less than $ 5 per side plus $ 5 shipping. The other item that goes bad is indeed the linkage. The part is called an actuator and a new one costs about $ 60 per side. Labor is on top of this but it isn't a real hard job to replace both parts. Do a search on this forum for more information. Barney rebuilds headlight motors but you would have to remove them and send them to him. I have several Reatta parts cars but do not have any good motors at this time and actually you don't need a whole new motor just yours rebuilt. If you do know someone who can do the work for you I can email you the name of two suppliers for the delron rollers. You will have to get the actuators from GM.
  4. Nic, The nylon band that pushes up and pulls down the antenna mast is broken. You can fix it yourself or Barney repairs them or I repair them, did I mention Barney repairs them? or I have a good used one.
  5. I have many Reatta parts cars and have all of the parts you are looking for at reasonable prices. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com and I will send you an email.
  6. The car is now at a dealer only salvage auction yard and scheduled to sell in early June.
  7. 2nd picture. See attached picture. Can someone tell me how to put more than one picture in the initial post?
  8. Green '91 are very rare and now there is one less. This is not my green '91 but on the east coast. I do not know the vin. See attached picture.

    1988 Windshield

Thanks, Eddie for the referral. I do have good used windshields for $ 200 but they would need to be picked up in Duluth MN. GJVliet, where are you located?
  10. I did too and complimented him on them. I also have a picture of the rear with the top down and he has an oval exhaust tip tht looks good. I couldn't figure how to put two pictures in the first post so will try and put the second picture here.
  11. '88-89 inserts are different from the '90-91s
  12. I am sending some parts to a gentleman in Switzerland and thought I would share a picture of his car. They look good all over the world.
  13. Barney, I have sold quite a few of both the grills from the doors and in the rear of coupes from my parts cars and have done almost the same thing, as very often they seem to attract dirt like you mentioned. I have taken them and used some dish soap and a soft sponge and they would come out like new.
  14. As Padgett said we need to know which parts you need. I have several Reatta parts cars and have any part you might need at reasonable prices. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  15. Surprise surprise, my local GM dealer called and the retainers that were backordered did come in. Retail price at your local GM dealer is $ 6.41 and I paid $ 2.93 with no shipping charges.
  16. I would like it for Linda's driftwood. We just got it out of winter storage and took the California plates off it an in now has MN plates. Thanks, Jim
  17. I sent an email to spongebob this morning and after a little more thought on his problem I am almost certain his pump needs to be bled. I had the 100% the exact same symptoms on my wifes car last week after doing some work on her ABS and the pump needed to be primed and air bled from it. I poured in a little fluid where the accumulator screws on and I then left the accumulator loose and also the end of the steel line where it meets the master cylinder and ran the pump with an external battery. When fluid started coming out by the threads I stopped the motor and tightened the line and accumulator and everything worked correctly from that point on. I bled the brakes at the wheels and she now has her car back. Now if you want a real problem remove that Torx cap on the top of the master cylinder right next to the firewall. I say this with tongue in cheek as what I really mean is DO NOT REMOVE THAT CAP. You may experience problems you never thought of. Fortunately I have spare parts.
  18. The pump may run for more than a minute when the pressure has been taken all the way down. The pressure switch will stop the motor when it reaches the 2600 pounds. Put your hand on the motor to make sure it is actually running. You will feel a slight vibration while it is running and you will also notice when the pressure switch shuts it off. If the pump is not actually running maybe the relay or fuse is bad. It is quite easy to bleed the rears by yourself. After the lights go out on the dash turn on the key or start the engine and using a stick against the seat depress the brake pedal slightly and then go to to right rear wheel and open the bleeder. The pump will pump the fluid out and any air, then do the left rear. Be careful no to let more than about a half a cup come out before refilling the reservoir as you don't want to take out too much fluid and maybe get air into the system. There is level switch and full line on the reservoir and when you are done the fluid should be at the full line after pumping the brakes 25 times with the key off. The level will be lower when the system is pumped up. This level is important. I did my wifes car a couple of days ago after changing the whole unit on the firewall and I even bled the front brakes by myself using my foot to pump the pedal a few times and then hold it with a stick against the seat with a board to protect the seat. I used the power seat to keep/adjust the pressure on the pedal. I don't know if a power bleeder will even work on the Teves ABS fronts because of the design of the system.
  19. Many GM dealers parts counters will sell at a discount to individuals. Don't go to the huge dealers but to a smaller one and when when they ask who the part is for ( so they can contact you when the part comes in ) tell them it is for Joe's or Bob's etc Auto Repair and you probably will get a discount. The center caps I think are selling right now for around $ 58 each with no shipping cost.
  20. With regard to the door strap end caps and inserts for the '88-89s, in a different thread, Barney is correct with the part numbers of 20588020 for the insert and 20587948 for the caps. I have ordered about 50 each of these and sold them mostly as a courtesy over the past years but I went to my local GM dealer about a month ago and they said they are now discontinued. I checked with Vintage and they also do not list them. I did try on gmpartdirect's web site last night and they are still listing them but when I tried to add them to the cart to get their exorbitant shipping price I got an "error processing", so I am wondering if they can get them. I always purchased them in individual packages but I see C.F.Massie says he got them in a "two pack". C.F.Massie could you provide the part numbers you have for the two pack purchase of these parts?

  22. I have several Reatta parts cars and can help with any parts you might need if you determine which part is faulty. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  23. As Vincent Vega said, the radio is located in the console and many of the other functions of the touch screen are located in other areas of the car. It is interesting when you find a touchscreen/CRT in a salvage yard the owners always think this is some big fancy computer when actually the touch screen/CRT is only a means of operating the radio, heater etc. I have several Reatta parts cars and have a good tested radio available. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com

    Headlight Repair

Two possible problems. The actuator, the piece of metal about 2 inches long bolted to the output of the gear box is stripped where is attaches with one bolt. The part number for that item is 16510108 and still available from GM and some online suppliers, watch their shipping prices. The other possible problem is the rollers inside the gear box. They tend to disintegrate. The can be purchased from either of these two people. Jason Murphy 2 magnolia Dr Cartersville, GA 30121 770-382-1791... the kits are $4.95 each and shipping is just $2 no matter if you get 1 kit or 100. Phillip Squires 2960 King St. Pensacola, FL 32526. They are 4.95 a set plus 3.00 for shipping. If he needs 2 sets just add 4.95. There is no additional charge for shipping. My phone # is 850 457-3658. .
