    Happy New Year

Hey, how about those good quality used parts also available. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I also hope everyone on the forum has a very nice 2007 Jim
  2. The inverter in the console changes the 12 volts DC in the car to 110 volts AC to light up the electroluminescent panels in the mirror and window switches and the shift panel and the second one in the dash lights up the electroluminescent panels in the switch pods on either side of the IPC.
  3. I don't know if they are still available new but I have good used ones and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  4. Robert, We are also having an unusual green Christmas so I won't be able to send any snow but since you say you were the first to notice the picture I agree you should win something. Since it is not my car to give away I will give you the second place prize. Next time you are in Duluth I will buy you a beer and show you the picture someone sent me of Britany Spears getting out of Paris Hilton' car.
  5. I put that picture on about a week ago waiting to see who would notice it. It is me sitting in the only right hand drive Reatta in existance. Owned by Cliff and Doreen Humphries in Orewa New Zealand. I plan to write an article on the car and it will be in the spring edition of the Reatta Div. newsletter.
  6. A little tidbit of almost useless information, but important to those documenting some of the differences on the very early cars. Some of the early '88s had a different track on the rear side of the door window. I parted out # 106 recently and Bill V in NY has vin # 1183 and he also has this early style track. All other Reattas have a wheel on a plate riveted through the lower rear of the window and this wheel rides in a track on the back edge of the door. On these early '88 there is no wheel there but the holes are still drilled in the window. On the edge of the glass at the bottom there is a black plastic piece bonded to the window and this piece slides in a different track arrangement from the later cars. It is common for the "T" at the front of the window to become separated from the glass and the only way to fix it is to replace the window. If you do have to replace a window on an '88 be sure and note which type of tracking you have on the rear. I would also guess these windows would be pretty hard to find but the good news is if you are not worried about originality, you can put a later window in the door but you would also need to use the later tracks.
  7. I am 61 years old and quite often just for fun I go through the gears on my '63 Corvette and can easily spin the tires going into 4th gear. The shifter on my '65 GTO 4 speed isn't as good and I am a little afraid of missing a shift on that one, but it still performs pretty well. I also have a '50 Chev with a big block and a blower and that will spin the tires any time I want. Were only as old as we feel but with age we become more careful. I have seen Padgett's GTO and I suspect it doesn't always go 30 or 55. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

    Owners Manual

I have any combination you might want in owners manuals for an '88. I have a used manual, a used manual in the folder, a used manual in the folder with all the added inserts, a used manual in the folder with the inserts and a pen. I also have a NOS manual still in the original plastic wrap with a new manual, pen, inserts, cards and plastic key. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  9. From my experience the most common part to go bad in the '90-91 Reattas is the IPC. I have heard of some people taking it out cleaning the pins and putting it back in with some success. If it goes out and stays out I do have some good tested IPCs available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com

    Brake reaction rod

$ 25 sounds about right to me.
  11. The Quad driver in the ECM has 4 drivers and will bring up a code 26 when the ECM sees a problem in any of the following circuits. Canister purge, SES light, Low speed fan, high speed fan, A/C relay, Hot light, TCC solenoid or any of the 3 EGR solenoids. This is a simplistic answer for what the Quad driver does. There are 4 pages of diagnostics for this code in the shop manual. My car also is occasionally bringing up this code and I also will have to look into it one day.

    Where are my Horns?

Jim, If you don't change your ways I know where your horns are going to be. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> The horns on Reattas are under the front corners of the car. You will see them there bolted to the body by one bolt and one wire going to them. Have someone hold down the horn button and have another person tap on the horn with a small hammer and you probably will get it to work. If not send me an email, I do have some good ones. Jim
  13. I have a convertible top and frame for parts or I could sell the whole thing. The top is an original and not too good plus the window is falling out so I would guess the material is no good but the frame is complete and in good condition. I have a person looking for a part from this frame but I am reluctant to sell one part as then it would make the rest of the frame only good for parts. If I did sell the part, is there anyone interested in any of the other parts from this assembly or is anyone interested in the whole assembly. I have not looked at the weather strips yet but if they are good they are NOT for sale. I know prices on just about any other part on a Reatta but have no idea what the top frame would be worth, make an offer. Please add to this post if you are interested or send me an email at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  14. The Inverter is for the electroluminescent lighting of the window and mirror switches and the shift panel. There is another inverter in the dash that lights the headlight and wiper switch pods but these inverters have nothing to do with the CRT. If they tested it and say its good then it probably is the CRTC located inside the console next to the gas pedal. I have several Reatta parts cars and have a good CRTC. I can be reached at jfinn@cpintenet.com
  15. The coolant fan relays are located in the underhood relay center located next to the windshield washer reservoir. There is a location diagram on the underside of the cover.
  16. My wife has one here in Duluth MN. Only drives in in the summer and Tom S in MI has a really nice one. Theres two so far.

    Lost Brakes

From my experience it is usually the pressure switch located on top of the pump right in front of the accumulator, or the pump itself. Remove the connector from the pressure switch and look inside. If you see any moisture ( brake fluid ) around the pins then the pressure switch is bad and not starting the pump. If the pump is bad sometimes tapping on it, with the key on, will start the pump. I have both parts and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com although I am out of the country until Wednesday night late. Jim

  20. I do not have at this time that particular part. Please DO NOT use the PM system here when contacting me. Please send emails to jfinn@cpinternet.com I am leaving this morning on vacation and will be unavailable until Nov 30

    More heat?

I have heard that foreign material can get stuck in front of the heater core. Remove the blower control module and look inside to see if the air flow is restricted. You can pick out the stuff or maybe vacuum it out.

    Parking Lamps

You didn't say what year your car is but if it is an '88 or '89 it is probably the headlight switch module. If this is the case try sort of punching the "off" button with your finger instead of simply pushing the button.
  24. If you look at the underhood picture you see it has the Teves ABS and the strut towers are painted silver or grey. It is a '90 that has been repainted and someone put on '91 wheels. All of the green '91's had tan interiors. I drive a green '91, my oldest son drives a green '91, my youngest son drives a green '91 and I have a green '91 parts car.

    black armrest

It is from a Riviera. I have a black one with a cup holder sitting on my shelf from a Riv. I also have some with cup holders in the correct colors for Reattas.
