  1. I have for sale an '88 Select 60. I would like $ 1000 for the car. For '88 GM made a few Select 60s and were designated by having the X22 code on the service parts label in the trunk. This is a very rare car but in truth looks like any other black/tan Reatta. This car is a Colorado rust free car but needs work. It is a driving car with 188K on it. It, like all other '88 S60s, is black with a tan interior. This car has the 16 way suede seats and is vinxxx1077. The car needs to be repainted and some interior work. These cars were delivered to the dealer with the standard hood emblem and the special emblem was shipped separate from the car. I bought the car to get the special hood ornament and the ornament will not be included with the car when I sell it.
  2. I have a '49 Olds coupe that I have owned since 1974. It is a California rust free car. I stripped it to bare metal many years ago and it is in primer. ( Always Stored indoors. ) I run it about once a year and it has new dual exhaust on it. About 10 years ago I had the bumpers rechromed thinking that would be the push I needed to finish the car. Never happened, the bumpers are in the rafters of the garage. I also have three '49-50 Olds parts cars and lots of extra parts. I am saving the parts until I get this '49 done and then will sell the extra parts and cars but NOT until this car is done or I sell it. I would like to buy a '50 coupe and if I can find one I would sell this car. The car I am looking for would be simply a "driver", a number 3 or 4 condition is fine with me. I would also be interested in trading this car and all the parts for a '50 coupe.
  3. Kansas has nothing on North Dakota. A few years ago Domenic Clemente flew to Duluth from Long Island and he and I drove out to the BCA meet in Seattle. Domenic had never been in this part of the country and only knew NYC and the drive from NY to FL. When we were crossing ND he just couldn't believe his eyes. The stories are true. A telephone pole is the state tree in ND and there are times when in all directions you can see the horizon and not one tree or building. Jim
  4. Kevin, I do have a very nice '88 hood ornament and as you know having bought parts from me before, it will not be too expensive. Dave must have been thinking of someone else. I was going to send you an email about the emblem but see in a follow up post you may need some other things also, so send me a list and I should be able to help. Jim
  5. Thought I would bring this post back to the top. Spring is here and I would like to sell the car. I do have two pictures. I am open to offers.
  6. The first thing I did was google Marion Collier. I looked at the top 5 google replies and I couldn't even figure out who she is/was and what movies she was in. Nothing against Marion but there is a big difference between Frank Sinatra and Marion Collier. Draw a line from the Washington Idaho border south and then go across about Oklahoma all the way to the Atlantic. All the cars on the west and south of that line are going to be rust free. Montana, North Dakota don't use salt and those cars are usually rust free. Steve is right though about rust free cars being more valuable. I always tell folks looking for a Reatta not to buy a northern car unless the car is verified rust free. I tell them to go south and they will find hundreds of rust free Reattas available at prices indicative of a 20 year old car.
  7. Hey, I remember Marion Collier, she was on Happy Days with Tom Bosley. They rode around in an old DeSoto. Now there was a car. I would be interested in the DeSoto as everyone remembers that car. Oh, wait a minute, maybe I am thinking of Greg Ross's relative. Since the name is the same I bet Greg's supercharged 5 speed is worth lots more money now that it has ties to a celebrity. Sorry, I just couldn't resist putting a little humor into this.

    Help!

Sptfr43, I do have a good right front lower control arm available, and Randy H thanks for the recommendation. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com About 10 days ago someone contacted me about the same part and I told them I had one but it was spoken for, along with the whole cradle. That may have fallen through so I will remove the arm from the cradle. Jim
  9. Roger, Thanks for the recommendation. I do have the moulding and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com ( In reference to my email address I am not computer savvy enough to know if capital letters make a difference in email addresses or not but I do know all small letters will work. )
  10. Dave, I am sorry to admit I was in your area on Sunday about 10 days ago and should have called you but was on a sort of time schedule. I left GB Sunday morning at about 11 AM and drove to the U Pull It in northern IL just across the state line. I had thought of calling you but I figured you had already pulled everything from Gibson's cars and there wouldn't be anything left that I would be interested in. I didn't even stop at Wally's figuring they wouldn't have had anything. Maybe I should have. My plan was to hit the two pull its in northern IL, the one on North Ave in Chi and then the one in Hammond all this on Sunday. I did make it. Kevin, The car had a flame red interior. I am back home now in Duluth and did get a couple of the red interior parts but not much since I do not get too many calls for red parts. Red being a '91 only color.
  11. If anyone is interested there is a '91 Reatta in the Pull A Part in Louisville KY and it has a good windshield in it. Jim
  12. I usually have good used ones available. I will be away from home starting early Saturday and return on April 13. I will be able to do my emailing via my Iphone but don't expect long messages.
  13. I looked around at the top of this forum and couldn't see any reference to a raffle, then I noticed it directly to the right of Steve' post.
  14. A few years ago I believe it was Padgett that noticed there was a problem in the manual about certain codes being wrong. I think it had to do with the book saying a particular wheel sensor was bad when actually it was a different wheel. Padgett or anyone else remember this situation? Jim
  15. It is the insert that goes in the top of the seat and then the headrest goes into that insert.

    Those Darn Brakes!

I see we have here two first class folks, among almost all the others, on this forum. Barney for realizing his mistake and apologizing for it and Angelo for graciously accepting it. I believe 99% of the posters here are good folks wanting to help others with the same Reatta interests. Space----- I just reread Angelo's post and got a laugh, about expenses. I just came from filling up my GMC pickup. It took $ 76. As I was leaving the gas station I asked my wife what our first house payment was and she said it was $ 67 and that included taxes and insurance. That was in 1967.
  17. Barney is right in that after you break it loose, and sometimes it is pretty tight, it should screw off with our fingers. Be sure and pump the brake pedal about 40 times with the key off or there will still be pressure on the switch causing it to turn hard. I also like to slip a rag between the pressure switch and the pump/motor to catch any fluid that might run out.
  18. Scott, Looking back at my old emails I see I sent you two headlight switches last May and even though they are 95% of the time the problem, it did not fix your troubles. We both agreed as well as did your mechanic that it was not a switch problem in your case. You then got an inverter from me last October. That did not solve the problem either. The only thing left is the photo cell up on top of the dash near the windshield. To replace the photo cell you take off the defroster vent and the large panel on top of the dash just like you did when replacing the inverter. Today I am sending you an ABS sensor and I will include at no charge a tested good photo cell. Jim
  19. My wife's Reatta was leaking from the same area. Two easy fixes cured the problem. You do have to pull the axle to get the side pan off. Hers was leaking from both the outer pan gasket being bad and it turns out the 6 or so bolts that go around where the axle comes through the pan were loose. I tightened them and that cured that leak. The outer gasket was bad so I loosened all the pan bolts, pulled the pan a little ways away from the transmission, added some form-a-gasket/gasket in a tube and retightened the bolts. No more leak and about a half hour time frame.

    Third brake light

Thanks to both of you. The bulb is not for me but for a fellow has bought parts from me and is looking for a bulb. I will pass on the info. Jim
  21. Where can I get a bulb for the third brake light on convertibles? Part number ? Jim
  22. When you first posted someone sent you a PM so I assumed you got a lens. I see you are still looking for one. I am almost positive I have a nice one and would sell it for $ 10 plus shipping but will have to check tomorrow. It is 10PM Monday night right now. Send me an email at jfinn@cpinternet.com Include your zip code for shipping purposes. Jim
  23. This is a perfect example of why we should send in the vins on our cars and cars found in junk yards, parking lots and other places. From that information we can determine sometimes exact, and sometimes approximate changes to our cars. Jake----- The green '91 that I sold recently and mentioned in a separate post is the one you were interested in a year or so ago. Also I used to be a member of the KFOCI and still have 4 Henry Js.

    Sold a green '91

The car had 165,000 miles on it but it ran good and looked good. I bought it almost 6 years ago and I drove it some and then sold it to my son. I bought it back from him on a trade and then it just sat here the last year. It did not have the original wheels on it as I put on some aftermarket wheels that I took off a Reatta convertible parts car I bought last year. I just thought that was a fair price. If anyone is looking for a set of '91 wheels and caps I have a set available.

    Sold a green '91

I believe I am going to win the lottery some day but the chances of me doing so are about the same as finding a factory produced green '91 convertible.
