  1. Padgett, OK, now my turn to ask I didn't realize there was a difference in the dipsticks and the supports. Which support are you referring to? Oops, I went back and looked again at the picture and see you are referring to the support over the transmission. It does have the '89-91 support. Dipstick?

    1988 Parts

Derek, I sent you an email. Jim
  3. I see the car is an '89 but has an '88 engine in it. I agree with BJM that the car is not worth that much as a complete car. I have bought quite a few of them in that condition for between $ 250 and $ 700. It probably isn't greed though on the part of the owner. He probably doesn't see many Reattas and just isn't informed on current values.

    1988 Parts

Derek, I did give the letters and emblem to Fred on Saturday. I have a front WSS and a window switch. I will send you an email with some pictures and if you are interested I can send them to Fred and he can send me a check. If you need them before you leave there might be a problem with the Canada Post strike. I believe Express Mail is still going to Canada but shipping that way is about $ 65. Jim
  5. If you don't want to send yours in and get if fixed I have tested good used radios available. Please send me an email at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  6. The fog brackets are susceptible to getting bent and can be straightened. Remove the four # 10 nuts holding them in and you will see the main horizontal part should be flat and level. Simply bend them so the are straight and put them back in. Because the fog lights sit inside the bumper cover, you cannot straighten them in the car. I do have some good brackets if you need them but am sure you can straighten yours.

    fender alignments

I have to respectfully disagree that the factory added washers. I have also taken apart headlight covers that had washers under them and in every case they looked like hardware store washers and not something GM would have put there.
  8. I believe it is the large lighted sign. I do not follow this stuff so do not also follow prices but I thought it was just the other way around. The signs holding their value and the portfolios coming down.

    fender alignments

The fenders have no adjustment up or down. They can be moved in and out a little. The headlights also have no adjustments as the holes were drilled specifically to fit in one place only. You can jury-rig the headlight covers with washers like Steve does but they were not designed to do so. There are adjustments in the filler panel support. This is the panel that holds the parking light assemblies. If your gaps are quite far out of align then you need to replace the filler panel support but if they are close there are slotted holes on the support and on the vertical supports that hold the filler panel in place. These can be moved in and out and up and down. Once you have the filler panel lined up with the hood and headlight covers you can then adjust the bumper. The bumper supports have slotted holes in them so you can move the bumper up or down in the front so it will be tight against the filler panel. The only place GM used spacers is on the bumper. The spacers will move the bumper in and out and you can add or take away spacers between the impact bar and the supports on the top or bottom to raise and lower the bumper at it's ends where it comes around at the wheel opening. As an example, adding spacers at the bottom bolts on the supports and then tightening the top bolts pulls the ends up.
  10. I am posting this for Harrold Anderson in the Minneapolis area. He can be reached at 763 494 9427 You will need to talk to him about prices and condition. He has for sale------- Large round Reatta sign. Complete zippered portfolio with the pen, flashlight and tire gauge. Reatta cassettes One NOS '88-90 wheel.
  11. Exactly one year ago at Back to the Fifties in Minneapolis I was talking to a fellow about maybe purchasing a '50 Olds coupe from him. His name was Harrold Anderson and after talking to him I lost his phone number. Yesterday I got a call from a Harrold Anderson who had picked up from an estate sale, several pieces of Reatta memorabilia. He got my name, I believe from the Reatta division web site and called me. We talked about the items he has and that he wants to sell them. In the course of the discussion he mentioned he has these items but does not know their value which is why he was calling me. He mentioned he was into Oldsmobiles so at that point I asked him if he was the same Harrold Anderson that had the beige '50 Olds at Back to the Fifties last year, and he is the same person. I will be meeting him to look at and possibly buy an Olds from him. He has the following items for sale and I will post them in the buy/sell forum. Lighted sign Complete zippered portfolio Cassettes One NOS '88-90 wheel.
  12. I don't have any torque converters to look at right now but I have seen were the flex plate will crack and then the squeak can come from the two pieces of metal rubbing together.
  13. You are probably going to replace it as there is no adjustments. On a lot of them there is even a warning on the outside of the mechanism not to take it apart. I have most colors available. Jim
  14. I have good used '88 style pump/motors available.
  15. One of our west coast friends recently posted that '91 wheels and center caps are worth $ 1500. Maybe he is right and if so someone can get a good deal here. I have three sets of '91 wheels and center caps available. One complete set $ 450. They are OK as is but should be repainted. One complete set $ 550. They are pretty good looking on a daily driver. One complete set $ 650. They have been repainted with the exact matching paint are are VERY nice. Shipping would be additional. If interested email me your zip code and I can give you a quote. If you are in MN, WI, IA or parts of IL, MO, ND, SD or NE shipping might be very cheap.
  16. I am also certain it is your IPC. I have seen several of them go up in smoke like yours. Instead of asking me first when smoke came from the IPC area on my brother in laws Riviera he pulled the whole dash out of the car thinking something burned behind the IPC. When he didn't find any burnt wires he put everything back together and I then put a good IPC from my car into his and it lit up. We then put his IPC in my car and smoke started coming from the unit. I do have a good IPC available and have at lower prices than some sellers. Jim
  17. Mike, I have no desire to put anyone in "cross hairs." All I want to see in any posting is truth or facts that can be backed up. This subject has been going on for quite a while and hadn't been heard from since last March. Then someone brought this post to the top again two days ago. Chuck did a post quoting Steve and asked Steve for the engineers name. I happened to be looking at the posts and Steve did not answer Chucks question. There is a 15 hour span between Chuck's postings and Steve did not answer the question even though he posted twice during that period. I apologize to you, I didn't realize I or anyone else was not allowed to post during this time. I know you have been involved in this controversy but at this time Steve made the statement ". The project engineer that provided me the book confirmed that green convertibles were indeed produced.", and Steve needs to back up his statements. I did talk to Barney about the "interesting" comments made to Barney by Angelo. I believe Barney is away from home right now so I think it is best if Barney wants to go further into those comments it should be up to him. You say you are the one with first hand information. That is great. Lets put this subject to bed right here and now. Post names or VINs or pictures and then everyone will know for sure a green convertible was made. Right now is it is speculation because even though Steve keeps posting "verified" no proof via pictures names or VINS has been provided. Post some of that and I will be the first one to say you have been right all along.
  18. Steve, If you want to be credible on this forum, please answer Chuck's question. You have posted twice after Chuck asking, but have not answered. What is the name of the engineer who provided you the book and verified there were green convertibles made.
  19. Steve, You say you have verified four but you don't answer Chucks request that you provide names or proof. Chuck asked for the name of the engineer. Please answer the question.
  20. I do have the window you are looking for. Please send me an email at jfinn@cpinternet.com Jim
  21. Ronnie, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING. You are doing an excellent job helping others solve many of the problems we are having with our Reattas and your helpful tips are invaluable. As to the "advertisements" at the bottom of the posts by some of us, I have been posting here for almost 12 years and I didn't have one there either until about a year or so ago when Steve came along selling the parts he picks up in junk yards. I challenged Steve a while back that if he took off all his ads at the bottom I would also. He declined.
  22. I wish they were worth $ 1500. I have three sets of '91 wheels and center caps available. One complete set $ 450. They are OK but should be repainted. One complete set $ 550. They are pretty good looking on a daily driver. One complete set $ 650. They have been repainted with the exact matching paint are are VERY nice.

    Underhood brace

I do have a nice one available. Please send me an email at jfinn@cpinternet.com I usually have almost all parts available at reasonable prices from my parts cars.
  24. If you are going to keep the car and drive it, then if you can buy it cheap, buy it. If you are planning on buying it and reselling it, how many people do you know want to buy a car with 200k on it? I have owned four green '91s and currently own two. I recently sold a very nice looking and driving '91 green for $ 1500 with 156K on it.
  25. I did not see the original posts but it is common for the pressure switch to go bad. Look inside the pin area and if there is even the tiniest drop of brake fluid next to the pins the switch is bad. Even without seepage the switches can be bad. I do have good used switches available.
