  1. I looked at the sellers other items and it is obvious what he is doing is going to junk yard, picking up parts and reselling them. The switch pictured is not from a Riviera but a '90 Reatta switch. He may have taken it from a Riviera but all Rivs had the twilight sentinel feature and they never had fog lights. Before paying the $ 250 he is asking please see my post in the buy/sell forum. I have these for $ 65 exchange.
  2. I was just reading a post by Padgett and noticed part of his signature or ???? said "Orlando, where rust must be imported" Many years ago I was looking for a rust free truck in Texas and came upon a truck that had been near the coast. The bottom was fine but the top was terrible. I have seen other near the sea cars with the same problem. Every year we go to Mazatlan and last year I took some pix of some cars stored in locked yard. Mazatlan is right on the Pacific. Here are some pix. Jim
  3. Our Driftwood convertible came as a stripe delete. We put on some brown tape stripes so the sides wouldn't look so plain. When I bought my Select 60 someone had added red stripes but I took them off so the car would be correct. With Domenic's help I got a silver award at Seattle a few years ago.
  4. Ronnie, Very good reply. Padgett, This would definitely not be a judging issue. If you had a Riviera switch in your '90 and the guy doing the interiors happened to see it you might get one point taken off but either the switch with the dots or without is correct.
  5. Ronnie, Strange you asked that question right now. Yesterday I was showing my 12 year old grand son how I fix these switches and that is the first time I also noticed that some of these have the raised dots and some don't. Maybe GM realized right away that these switches might come apart if pressed too hard on the right side so they put the raised dots on the left to tell folks to push on that side of the switch. Since these are a '90 only switch the fog button is a '90 only button and some of them have the dots and other don't so maybe GM added the dots mid year.
  6. I have available some '90 headlight switches and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com These are available on an exchange basis only as I repair these switches. I disassemble them, clean all contacts, replace any worn or broken or missing parts, reassemble them with nice appearing buttons and then fully test them in my personal car.
  7. The '90 headlight switches are a little hard to find but there is no reason to pay big dollars like some have been going for on Ebay. I have tested good '90 headlight switches available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  8. I have my reservations all made and am looking forward to being there. Jim
  9. I do have a good used one available on a parts car. The car had good working brakes when I got it. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  10. The back side of all seat belt escutcheons have a prong at each corner to hold them in place. This prong pushes into a small metal piece on the trim panel. The first '88 only had these four corner prongs and GM figured out right away that they could break and the piece would fall off so they added the center screw. Many times now you will see the corner tabs broken off but because the trim plate fits in a depression on the panel all four corner pins can be broken off and the center screw will hold the trim panel in place without it rotating.
  11. As Barney mentioned there were several changes shortly after the initial production. I had vin 900106 here as a parts car and it did not have trays. It did have the seat belt escutcheons up on the pillars with out the hole in the center of them for the Phillips screw as was on all later Reatta coupes.
  12. I received an email from someone looking for some parts and she was also looking for some trays that went under the seats. The following is part of her emails to me. I have never seen any trays and wonder if anyone else has. Barney??? The "underseat trays" are white plastic boxes that fit under the seats and hold the seat wiring. Back in 1987 I was one of the original Reatta promo people and during training I remember being told these boxes were to protect wiring. When I remarked that seat wires don't need a box, I was told about the wires under the carpet. If you're still wondering what I'm talking about, you're in good company. I think most original Reatta owners threw theirs away! Those boxes are hard to find. </pre>
  13. Since there has been some discussion lately about polishing '90 wheels to make them shiny I thought I would bring this post back up. You can make your Reatta look like a '91. Jim
  14. I have three Reatta parts cars with tan interiors and good compartments in the rear. Please send me an email at jfinn@cpinternet.com and include your zip code for shipping purposes. Jim

    PARTS?

The two parts that go bad the most often in the '88-89 Reattas is the the CRT/touch screen and the headlight switch module. I have tested good working and appearing headlight switches available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  16. I am checking my supply for Padgett. '88-89s are different from '90-91s and also convertibles are different from coupes. Convertible lines are shorter because the filter is mounted near the rear tire on converts. 88-89s have steel lines whereas '90-91 have a steel line for about three inches and then a plastic line is shrunk onto the steel lines. The 88-89s have steel fittings at the ends and the '90-91s have quick connectors. The sending units need to be changed as a unit as the gauge assembly is spot welded to the tube for the gas. The problem I am sure Padgett is having is there are some small sort of hidden contacts on the gauge unit that rotate with the arm as it goes up and down and these contacts corrode and break off.

    Passkey

Any locksmith would have them but they are about $ 25. I might have one from one of my parts cars that have been junked and I still have the keys. I could measure it but it would not be cut right for your car.
  18. If that sorry excuse for a governor we have here in MN decides to not help fund the Vikings new stadium and they move then I say--------------Go Bears!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. And I got the fob you missed under the console in that faded red Reatta at Gibsons.
  20. Those are nice looking wheels, almost like the ones on my wife's convertible which came from a Cadillac STS. If anyone is looking to make their '90 look like a '91, I have three sets of '91 wheels and cap available and have them listed on the buy/sell forum. Jim
  21. I have good used brake cables and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com There are three cables so let me know which one you need, also your zip code for shipping purposes. The first one goes from the parking brake mechanism to just under the rocker panel. This cable is part of the pedal assembly. The second cable goes from under the rocker panel to the rear of the car and on to one side. The third cable splits off the main cable in the middle of the rear and goes to the other wheel.
  22. I do have a good EBCM and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com Jim
  23. You do not have to remove the main window. You simply take off the door panel, take out the speaker at the bottom remove the bolt holding the bottom of the vent window to the door, remove the two bolts on the front top of the door along with the mirror bracket and then lift up the vent window and giving it a quarter turn it will come out of the door. I sent you an email about the parts. Jim
  24. I have both the mirror and window available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
