  1. We are pleased to provide new data on 1991 Reatta's, courtesy Mr. Tom Benvie . Created from original factory data, the spreadsheet provides an in-depth look at the last year these unique cars. Should you have additional questions, comments or need to add a new Reatta to the database, please contact Barny (or send him an email through www.reatta.net) --Tom PS, thank you all for your contributions, information and insight into what many believe to be the best premium sports car ever made.
  2. Barney has updated the Reatta database and is available at "www.reatta.net" Please be sure and contact him for changes, updates etc... (if something doesn't work on the spreadsheets/documents, please let me know) Thanks! --Tom
  3. Appreciate the offer, but perhaps it's best to move on? I can't let me personal thoughts and feelings interfere with the right course of action on my part. After all, you said it best: "..OTOH GM can afford lotsa lawyers..."
  4. First off, I thank you all for your continued support over the years - all of you have made a positive difference to the Reatta community. Honestly, although most of the data on reatte.net is "stale", it continues to be a historical reference among other, newer information and web sites, which adds to the collective Reatta "brain-trust". Topically, since 2004, the GM "LICENSED WORKS" were renewed every ~5 years by me. Sadly, when I recently reached out to my GM contact (SPX), she spoke to the GM licensing department with the follow email return: ------------------------------------ (31 Mar '15) Hello Tom, I met with GM this morning. Since the execution of your original agreement, the GM licensing program has changed. Also, GM has now put a value on all of their intellectual property. GM recommends that enthusiast clubs now purchase manuals from a company that have the rights to sell GM manuals. Without an agreement, no one has the rights to use GM's intellectual property. At this time GM is not interested in renewing your agreement. Below are companies that have GM rights to sell original manuals. R & B Holt David Graham Faxon Auto Literature Jan ------------------------------------ Although GM has taken what I believe is an unfortunate shift in "good will" for their customer base, I must abide by their copyright laws and mandates. I personally and deeply feel that the information provided here (LICENSED WORKS, to include service Bulletins etc) were valuable to our entire group, had no real value to GM, let alone support from that organization. However... "it is what it is". I'm sure that you all will understand and respect both GM's decision, as well as my mandated closing of the Documentation area on reatta.net. Other areas of the web site remain open and free to all. Again, my sincere apology to the entire Reatta group. --Tom

  6. Yes, indeed, have seen much evidence of these types of things. I guess it's the same as the topical butterfly effect for the power grid. At any rate, back up at 6:30PM. Sorry for the inconvenience. --Tom
  7. Things happen in 3's... this is #2. 7:33AM today, power lines=1, squirrel=0. Fried a main feed, and burned the fiber at the local substation We *should* be up in 4-6 hours... I can't imagine what's next. --Tom
  8. My humble apologies... tree fell and broke the fiber from 3:15PM-7:30PM Friday, 24 Feb. 3+ years, 0 packet loss, and then a little wind on old Florida tree limbs.. Go figure... --Tom
  9. Thanks Wally... Glad to be of some small service to the folks here... Yes, since 22 June 2000, the reatta.net site has aged, and still has static info (FAQ etc), but again, the focus was to initially provide a long-term repository for the database, and FSM's etc. The current reatta.net is only updated occasionally (database etc), but the good news is that other sites around the world now have an opportunity to contribute in their own unique way toward this one-of-a-kind car. Regarding ownership, although I did voluntarily "give up" the '90 coupe, I often look for it on the 'net and would probably buy it back if it came my way --Tom

Please let me know if you didn't get the return email. I really try to get these all out in a timely manner, however, sometimes work gets in the way --Tom
  11. Ah HAH! Jim, this is TOTALLY my fault... when I saved the text version back to the web site, I managed to drop off the last character of the VIN (and probably some color info as well). Although this is the first time that a sharp eye has caught it, I'll make sure that it doesn't happen again. Will correct and re-upload in a day or so. Thanks for keeping me in line! --Tom
  12. Bottom line - this will take (and has taken) a large amount of time to stay on top of, compile, post and weed out the old data. I did this for several years, and was very glad to see this board revamped into what it is today. The FAQ on reatta.net was a 'seed' effort to get ideas and postings flowing. The fundamental purpose was to lay a foundation of common issues and abatements thereto. In my opinion, the search function on this board does work - it just takes some time to understand how to apply it. I've kept some of the old topics active on reatta.net... but we really do need a 'give-and-take' forum for quality responses. Honestly, the FAQ on reatta.net was counterproductive, in that this board has a wider audience, is very much up-to-date, and provides near immediate responses to questions. Should someone want to (again) compile a new FAQ, by all means, jump right in. In fact, personally, I feel that the more Reatta sites out on the net, the better. If, however, a bunch of you wish to again revive the FAQ on reatta.net, I'll be happy to post whatever (space is not an issue) you desire. My humble $.02 worth. --Tom

  14. Appreciate the comment(s). Regarding some ISP's and DNS hosts, "just when you thought you were winning the rat race, along come faster rats..." --Tom
  15. Ok, try 'em now --Tom
  16. Please stand by... 'The trouble you are experiencing...' Really, no - I'm having some NS issues.. working on it. --Tom

    90 online FSM?

Wally, gimmie the details on this ASAP.... either here, PM, or email directly. --Tom
  19. Ok, so perhaps someone will read this and save some time. What should have been a five minute up-stop adjustment, turned in a nightmare on my 1990 coupe. Having seen a bit of 'wobble' on the left side head light, while in the up position, I decided to take a few moments and adjust it. During the trial 'up-and-down', I in-advertantly pushed the light assy into the dash. The main (top) push button appeared to break off and insert itself inside the plastic light assy frame. Disconnected the battery, disassembled the dash, disconnected the two connectors, removed the light assy, and noticed that the housing had come apart, breaking a tab or two between the two halves of the housing when I pushed it in. Springs, buttons and other parts came out... took about an hour to reassemble the entire switch such that I was sure that it was back to factory settings. Reconnected the assy and battery, and continued on with the up-stop procedure. Ended up with a few drops of super glue to hold the assy together. A final note - the engineering (in my opinion, ANOTHER failure on GM's part, just like the replacement of the side lights, horn button assys, seats for large framed individuals, mirror/vent glass placement, leaking door rubber etc) is such that the switches in the 90/91 hinge from the right (passengers) side. If you push on the left side of the buttons all the time, you will probably have NO problems with the switch assemblies. If you push on the right side of the front switch plate(s) with some force, you MAY end up pushing the entire assembly into the frame of the dash. Good luck! --Tom
  20. There is a 1990 Driftwood in Ocala, FL, on a used car lot for $900. Sunroof, no 16x or CD, needs paint, headlight work, passenger side vent glass, antenna, seat recoverings, and inside left/right door panels. 200K+ miles and very clean engine compartment, but runs (from what I understand). --Tom
