So we just acquired a 1989 chrystler TC. I have not seen it yet, but from what I gather the 800$ he bought it for was way too high. He even said that the interior was way worse than it looked in pictures. It needs a new ignition switch and a battery, to start with. At least that’s what the seller told him, that he took their word on. So no telling what kind of other issues it may have once/if it even gets started. Kind of wonder if the ignition and the battery didn’t get pulled on purpose because it kind of looks like a hack job. We had a friend of ours stop and look at it and it’s starting to sound like the entire steering column may need to be rebuilt or replaced or whatever. From the listings on classic and bring a trailer I have seen. TCs that are in pristine condition with less than 20k miles have not met their reserves which are low to begin with and have not sold. I suggested that he just call pick-a-part and eat the loss because even if he does get it running, he won’t be able to sell it or he will but he will not get enough to cover the price he paid for it and all the repairs and time spent on it. I know nothing of the vehicle I was not around that time but the internet says it was Chryslers biggest failure. looking through these forums I do see a lot of TC enthusiasts, but I can relate to being irrationally obsessed with a shitty vehicle since im a Ford OBS enthusiast. But my does that we just got rid of 😕 could’ve been sold by classic for me. I just need some advice from you enthusiasts on what to do with this vehicle. I’m definitely coming next time to look at this thing, and if I find that it’s not worth restoring or even making the basic repairs it needs to get running. Y’all can have first claim on the parts if you like before pick-a-part. You don’t know how frustrating you men are when you(some of you) who don’t know anything about vehicles but insist on having the freedom to make decisions like this. Just stopped him from buying a beat up Subaru the day before he was also only going to “look” at.
