  1. Hi Glenn - I know how it's supposed to be routed (as shown in the assembly manual), just need to get under the car this spring and do it. It runs along the driver's side valve cover instead of along the inner fender like an automatic. A lot of the shiny hardware on the fenders/hood hinges/firewall has been replaced with OEM pieces since that pic. I bought a '77 K 5 Blazer and a '72 Hurst/Olds in 2022 so they were the shiny objects that got most of my car attention this year. Need to get back to this one! The reason the original owner ordered the car without a vinyl top was that he wanted a Hurst/Olds but with a four speed. He also ordered the OAI setup like and H/O and apparently got the air cleaner base and smaller filter but not the hood. He had the H/O style half vinyl top installed as shown in the OP's photo above. He stated that he ordered the car in January 1972 and it took six months for Fremont to get the engine from Lansing. I talked to Larry Speicher about this at MCACN in November 2022 since he was very involved there at the time. My theory was that since the V Codes used the W-30-specific valve seat/angle in the Ga heads (I know I'm mis-stating that) and other components that came out of Lansing with the X Codes, that the engine DID need to come from Lansing. Larry was in full agreement with that and said the delay was entirely plausible. Terry
  2. Hi all - I was searching for info on '72 build sheets to help a fellow Olds owner/restorer with something and stumbled across this thread. I own this car now, having purchased it in 2019 out of San Bernardino, CA where it had been its whole life. Code 65 65 Flame Orange paint and painted roof, L75 455/M20 trans (V in the VIN), W37 dual disc clutch, buckets/console, and Rallye Pack gauges. One of 77 Supreme hardtops built with the V Code drivetrain. I've owned five of the 77 since 2002 plus one of the 66 V Code convertibles. I founded the V Code registry and also own/manage sx455.com with Alan Reedy. I plan to drive the orange car to the OCA Nationals in Dayton this year. Still have to sort out a few underhood and interior details yet (the 4 speed battery cable routing among them...). It did have the Super Stock I (magnum-style) wheels originally, and the white half top was added. I've seen two other west coast '72 Supremes that had that added when new as well. I found and spoke with the original owner who special ordered the car new.
