  1. Had a Moraine booster rebuilt by Booster Dewey and they plated it with zinc dichromate which is a gold color. I'm told by a reputable '61 Oldsmobile owner that both the Moraine and Bendix boosters were black in '61. The front of the booster I had rebuilt is pitted and really shows up with the plating so want to change it out anyway. Can anyone verify that the Moraine should be black as well? Anyone have a core?
  2. 1961 Oldsmobile Starfire Restoration, Ebony Black, PPG 9300. Was assuming firewall would be same as body color but my painter thinks it should be semi-gloss from what he sees and experience. I would've thought they would spray the body and firewall at the same time. Wondering too about the underside of the hood whether it would be body color, semi gloss or some combo of the two. Hood hinges semi gloss with dark green springs I believe. Under the cowl cover (where the wiper control arms are) I'm thinking may be matte black. Anyone have some guidance here? Thank you! Mike
  3. I think it's a 5 and not an E. May lines up with the 3rd week of June 1961 for the cars production date. I read where frames were about three weeks ahead of the production date which is right in line with these dates. The PPS I think might be what's missing here. The Parrish Pressed Steel is not something I was familiar with, thanks Rocketraider! Thought just A.O Smith made the frames. If PPS is before the part #, anyone want to guess if there was anything else between them, like a dash or ? Thank you! Mike
  4. Looking for some guidance on what is missing from the frame stencil on my '61 Olds. I'm guessing three digits on top line left of the 578893 which I'm guessing is the part number. On the bottom line 5-29-61 and - 1? I saw where an earlier GM stencil from the mid 50's had a PPS on top line which may be the missing three digits.

  6. From my '61 Oldsmobile Starfire frame. Would like to know what the faded areas were so I can recreate this stencil
  7. Dave, You posted a message in 2011 with a contact for Ron Miller. I tried that email address but is no longer valid. A lot can happen in 11 years. The thread was regarding the banded tops for '61 Starfires. Trying to track down a source for them. Mike
