  1. Thanks Hubert you mite be onto something there about the lip seal on the water pump. I do know that the fella that originally restored the Buick was a fitter and tunner (as am I ) so he could of and most definitely looks like he has modified several things along the pump shaft even to go as far to put lip seals into the bearing block I tried to get a photo but it didn’t turn out to good I will put it up anyway (the black thing in the face is a rubber seal) for now I’m going to run with it as I need to get it finished for my Daughters graduation Cheers for all the advice mate I really appreciate it 👍🏻and no doubt I will need help when I tackle that job soon
  2. Sorry like I have said I’m still trying to use this page 😂 I have removed the top cap and I’m not able to turn it around as the bearing block locating Hole is on the front side of the motor I have put sealant on it and put it around the bottom part of the bearing housing to try and slow it down just to get it through a road worthy inspection until I get time to sort it out properly cheers for the info mate 👍🏻
  3. I’m not sure about the knurled bits I was wondering that myself after seeing all the photos of the hex nuts on them I have only just brought this car and I’m going through it and getting it ready for registration I’m guessing that I’m going to have to pull it all out and sort it out thanks 👍🏻
  4. Hubard I have put some sealent on the top cap and I’m interested as to the location of the screw on the cap I see yours are different to mine I will remove it and see if I can change it but I’m thinking that the locking dowel won’t let me 👍🏻

  6. G’ Day On a 1925 Buick standard six. I was wondering if you can remove the rear bearing block on the water pump with out removing the water pump shaft from the car as there is nothing wrong with the water pump but there is engine oil coming out around the shaft seals on that bearing block I have read through the removal and inspection of the water pump instructions and can’t see any mention of just the bearing block being able to removed and resealed if I’m not able to just remove that bearing block , is there any sort of timing of the engine that need to be done to remove the water pump shaft .
  7. G’Day I was wondering what type of muffler people would use on a 1925 Buick standard six? the one I have is a straight through muffler with the padding stuff around the out side of the internal pipe The second photo I tried to get a view down the pipe . thanks
  8. G’Day I was wondering if some one could explain what type of seals are in here and will I need to fully remove the water pump or could the seals be changed in the car. thank you
  9. G’Day I was wondering if the modern style spark plug lead ( Multi core leads ) would work on my 1925 Buick standard six . Is there any one running the newer style leads on there vintage cars and how are the cars running with them thanks
  10. Thanks JFranklin for the advice,I will investigate more when I get home from work cheers 👍🏻
  11. It’s hard to say it smells like grease but is very thin like oil and the car hasn’t moved in over a week and it’s just started leaking. Just thinking it mite just grease as the temperature is quite hot here throughout the day. so there is meant to be grease in the hubs like most other vintage cars
  12. Hi I went out to the shed today and noticed a oil leak at the rear wheel which seem to be coming from the hub cap / little screw in the wheel hub. is the hubs on a 1925 Buick standard filled with oil and how do I stop this from leaking
