  1. Manuel I'll look up your work on the '41. Good looking car. The red on the rear is actually the original primer where paint is gone. Here is a picture of the car at the Apple Blossom show in Winchester VA in '97. I was able to get it there once before. Hopefully it can happen again. I did end up with more small pitting/surface rust in painted areas after the storage. That was disappointing.
  2. Thanks for the comments guys. I will be ordering the Firestone bias tires from Coker. This car will not see a lot of miles. My intention is to maintain as much originality as I can. So far it's pretty much the way I remember it for the last 60 years. By the way photos of the car are posted in the "Our Cars & Restoration Projects" forum under 1940 Olds 70 Series
  3. Here is our car. It has been in the family about as long as I have. It was an old car when my grandfather acquired it around '56. All original but just about worn out. I remember riding in it when I could barely see out the windows. My uncle acquired it in the early 70's. It made regular appearances at the annual family reunion throughout the 70's, 80's and into early 90's. I acquired it in '94 and we had the engine rebuilt in '95. The car went into storage from '08 until '20. These pictures are from March '20 the day we brought it home from storage. More pictures and updates to follow and certainly some requests for information and advice.
  4. Thanks Bloo, I should have been more clear. The radials I was considering were the "bias look" that you referred to from Coker. No success loading photos.
  5. I have a 1940 Olds 70 Series that needs tires. The car has been in storage around 15 years and the previous set which appeared to go back to the 60's finally gave out. I'm looking at Firestone Blackwall 6.50-16 tube type from Coker. Before I pull the trigger I'd welcome thoughts on bias ply vs. radial. Thank you in advance, Seth
  6. Ernie, I just went through your building thread again and watched the video of the engine running. Good motivation! Sorry you are selling after all your work but I see you have others to keep you busy. I have a '40 Olds 70 series 2 door. It has been in the family since 1957. I acquired it in 1994, went through all the same stuff you did on engine rebuild in '95. I feel like we had some similar challenges getting it to run right. We drove it for a while then around 2008 put it in storage for about 12 years. Retired now and ready to get it running again, now I feel like I'm starting all over again. I'd like to compare notes and get your thoughts on some things. My membership is new so I can't private message you. If you will, please reach out to me. Thanks, Seth
