  1. thank you for the only reply to my problem. i purchased a new top and pads from a manufacturer with the understanding that i would make it fit. since i did not have the old top. all of the companies i contacted said they needed the old top and pads in order to make a new top, because there were differences between many of the continentals. i am still hoping that a current 41-48 cabriolet owner will respond to my original post. i am going to try and install this top myself as recent prices i have got ranged from $8000.00 to install a ready made top to over $10,000.00 for a custom top. charlie
  2. i need some help from anyone with a 1942-1948 continental cabriolet. i am attempting to put a top on a 42 that did not have the original top. what i need to find out is the spacing between the 2nd. and 3rd. and the 3rd and 4th bows, and the angle of the steel bar attached to the rear wood bow. i also need to know the placement of the inside pads. i got 4 pads with the top i purchased 2-35" and 2-70". any help i can get will be greatly appreciated.
  3. thank you for the reply, but i am apparently also missing the oval vacuum cylinders for each door. the tanks i got with the car, maybe wrong. one tank has one vacuum fitting and the other has the broken check valve with a fitting plus a second fitting. and my tanks measure 6" x 22".
  4. 1942 lincoln continental cabriolet vacuum power windows. i have two vacuum tanks, one with a broken check valve on the top, and the hardware inside the two doors. does anyone know if there are other parts required ? and if the broken check valve can be replaced ? also can i find a diagram somewhere to hook up the system ?

  6. can anyone tell me where i would be able to find the following parts for a 1942 lincoln v-12. oil relief ball part # 353082-s oil relief spring part #6654 i would like to find nos parts if at all possible, and would appreciate any help.
  7. i started my 1942 l.c. last month after 30 years of storage, i first changed the oil and filter, and added 10-40 oil and a 12oz. bottle of zddp, plus a bottle of marvel mystery oil to quiet a noisy lifter i remembered from the last time it ran. i restarted it about once a week last month with no problems, and it was showing about 40# of oil pressure, yesterday i restarted again and the gauge showed 75# oil pressure. i immediately shut it down, and thinking it must be the gauge. i replaced the old stewart warner wings gauge, with a house brand gauge from the local parts store and it also showed 75# oil pressure. anyone got any ideas what the problem might be ??
  8. i got an estimate of $5000. to $7000. to make a top for the car. my ss check won't stretch that far.
  9. Larry, i am not a member of LZOC , and no i do not have my original top, but i did find two more companies that say they have the patterns to make a top, they are Electron tops and ARO 2000 tops. If anyone has used any of these companies, please let me know if they were satisfied with the products.
