  8. egg keep aka Water Glass aka (Sodium Silicate) so this is the deal as long as it is in solution water / coolant it will be a Liquid wet and fluid but when it comes in to contact with air it becomes a solid and hard so if you use it make sure you keep your cooling system full of water / coolant or it can plug up your radiator an old mechanic told me about this stuff 45 years ago along with rubbing alcohol for water in your gas
  9. you can hope to find one that's usable , have one made like the org. or adap something that's more common that will safely work . that handle looks like it was blued if there is room the end can be re-machined as far as the crank bolt goes new will fix it
  10. looks like there is no market for these so in the scrap they go
  11. That won't happen though. Every old American V8 has a shot timing chain if anyone has been driving it around. It doesn't really matter if it was new a short time ago. It is shocking how fast they wear out, and if it is a stock timing chain, or a "double roller" chain, one that is not also a "true roller" chain, it will have enough slop in it that the Ford shop manual will say it is worn out. This is normal and does not matter. People have no idea because they never take new rebuilt engines back apart unless there is a big problem. By the time the engine comes back apart for another overhaul it has 100,000 miles on it or more and nobody is surprised the timing chain is shot. They have no idea it has been that way since 10,000 miles. You need to know it because when you test like this you will probably SEE it. It will be significant, but will not be close to a whole tooth. so true i work in a auto machine shop and do assy. we have a run in machine and from the time it goes on and comes off the machine you can tell it is not as tight as before the run in . also line honing the mains dose not help as it shortens the center to center between the cam and main bores . and yes they do make shorter timing chains for just that but who has them , who stocks them and why bother . when i get one that's got a lot of slop i say hey look this one has centrifugal timing . like homer says WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ? but i always like the SPEED COST MONEY HOW FAST YOU WANT TO GO ? so if your a real whiz bang get the 3 slot key way crank sprocket [or broach your own] put it at the 4 deg. adv. a add a 3.8 L buick v-6 timing chain tenninor to take the slop out of the chain or hell go boat motor gear to gear with a cam to match right rot. you can just keep going tell you end up with a swiss watch of a car
  12. in this lot i have these bolt size w-100 1/2" head x 5/16 fine thread .670 long , w-101 1/2" head x 5/16 fine thread .825 long , J 1/2" x 5/16 fine .725 long , N 1/2" head x 5/16 fine .670 long ,W501 5/8" head x 3/8 find .890 long , W-500 5/8" x 3/8 find .685 long , washer id. .390 x od. .690 , W-505 washer id. .385 x od. .690. and in the pack is some bendix F4611 bolts so it is my understanding that a drive bendix spring will need two bolts and two washers so from this list tell me the size of the two bolts and the two washers that will work for you and i i will send them u.s. post conus cost $12 you can also add bolts and washers to your order at a cost of $2 each . payment by check or money order

  20. as chuck Nevin would say carburetor is a french word and it translates in to don't f*#k with it . as far as efi i love it hot cold you get in and it starts 99.9 % of the time . a model A ford came with a carburetor and that's as it should be if that's what you want as its your car [if i had one i would want carburetor ] but what turned me off to the carburetor on the so called hot rod / after market builder . was years of going to the big three in san diego and on a sat. after noon when it was time to leave you had hundreds if not thousands of every type of vehicle starting up [it was like something out of dr. susses only with out the green eggs ] and the smell of raw gas. not the fault of the carburetor but the ones that tried to overhaul / rebuild it , installed it , tune it. what ever they did in some cases is was just wrong. even today when i am out on the road and my sinuses start burning [the same thing happens with carbon monoxide] i ask myself ok wheres the shit box up there with the screwed up carburetor or the Mexican gas . so carburetor are they ok yes if someone has not tried to make them better.
