  1. Bought this as a crank hole cover for a Cadillac, but not sure that is what it is. Any ideas? It is about 2 1/4" tall and 1 1/4" wide with a 1/4" threaded hole.
  2. With the Gell batteries I could get 60 mph out of it on a smooth flat road, but that killed the range. I just did it to see how fast it would go on 8hp. I have been looking into maybe finding a Prius battery pack and splitting it up into 2, 36volt packs and run them in series for a total of 72volts.
  3. Most of them are, but 10 years ago a fellow gave me a 1991 Yugo which I converted to electric power. I removed the engine and all the parts connected to it. I made my own adapter plate and put an 8 HP DC motor in it. With a controller and 6 12volt deep cycle Gell batteries, I drove it 13,000 miles @ 5 miles at a time back and forth to work. When the price of gas went back down, I put it in my shop and stopped using it as the batteries were about shot. I could get it up to 55 mph during each short trip and recharge it over the lunch hour. To keep warm in the winter time, I plugged in an oil heater before leaving work or home. Now that gas is over $5.10 in my town, I am thinking of putting lithium batteries in and running it again. It was fun to drive and not have to stop at a gas station. Converted it weighted less than the gas powered model.
  4. Gasoline damaged paint doesn't look to me like it is lacquer.
  5. You can get a kit to rebuild your regulators yourself or have them rebuilt for you by contacting Gary Wallace. His email address is Gary <chev4cyl@charter.net> The silver colored one in the last photo is not one that the kit fits. Ternstead made those regulators for all brands of cars. They were used from 1929 to 1931. 1929/30 were for the taller windshields The 1931 has different large gears as the windshield wasn't as tall. Each kit comes with a new gearbox, 2 small bevel gears, a driven gear for inside the gearbox and 2 large gears with a pin to contact to windshield lower channel. It also contains a new 3/8 steel shaft, support and all attaching parts. You need to send in the short shaft gear that the handle goes on, so that a new worm gear can be cast onto the shaft.
  6. Vtinker here. If you can't find one, I can make a nice copy of your broken one, (without the cracks). I make a lot of the 1936 Chevy stands and the 37,38 & 39/40 truck stands.
  7. Thank you for the pictures. I have some of the pieces for this type of housing and molds for the gears. The housings that I have are all the 1936 models. Here is a picture of the small retainers used on most 1936 GM cars.
  8. The owner hasn't sent me the parts to work on. He said they are different side to side.
  9. Need a picture of a complete RH 1935 Pontiac wiper transmission. Front, side and back views. Thank you.
  10. I am in the process of making new outer handles for the 1949 Mercury Woodies. What I need is pictures of the fasteners for the base of the handles. I have the door handle molds done, but need the attaching parts for the base pictures. Here is a picture of the steel door from the inside. I was told that the woody has a mounting plate and different fasteners. Vtinker
  11. I am undertaking the reproduction of the outer door handles for the 1949 Mercurys. I need the pictures of the attaching parts that hold the handle base to the door. If someone has a handle off the car and could send me a picture of the screws/bolts or whatever it would be a great help. I am told that there is a difference between the regular cars and the Woody models as far as the handle mount goes. The handle push rod length is one difference. Anybody??
  12. I am working on reproducing the outer door handles for the 1949 Mercurys. I need to see what the small parts are that hold the handle base to the door. I am including a picture of the base. The threads are 10-24. I need to know if it used screws or studs and nuts.
