  1. Thanks everyone for the replies and guesses. I tried every lead you gave me. 👍
  2. Thanks Money Pit. Great info, and an awesome collection. This was my first post, so I posted in General before I saw the "What is it" my apologies. The knowledge you all have is amazing and much appreciated.
  3. The bottom has been tapped with a 5/16" coarse thread hole. No stud, but one could have been there at one time. It is very heavy and might even have some lead in there. There is a 3/8" flat washer that is embedded in there so I can't be sure without pulling that out. Don't really want to do that. Thanks for the reply. Really hoping it's at least auto related. A flag pole finial doesn't sound as sexy as an unknown automotive good ornament.
  4. Thanks for the replies. The consensus seems to be a flag pole finial. I also posted it on the general forum. It's a little disappointing because I really thought it was from a car since my Dad was such a car guy.
  5. Wow Terry, What a great collection. It must be great to hold them, and feel the weight, and the detailed work. A little off topic, but these are my babies. The Jag is stock, but the Spitfire was my own creation from two parts cars. Great fun.
  6. Hi Bill, American Underslung was really close but no cigar. I had never heard of that car, so thanks for educating me.
  7. Hi Walt, I'm not home right now so I can't measure. I will attach a picture that also shows the small Jaguar leaperr on the left side. It might give you some context
  8. That's what Terry though too. Thanks
  9. There is no markings that I could see. It is mounted with a bolt I scrounged into a 5/16" coarse thread hole. It would make sense that it's something aftermarket. It would explain why I haven't been able to identify. Thanks for the response
  10. Does anybody know what vehicle this hood ornament would be from? It's brass but was originally chromed before it wore off in the weather. I inherited it from my father, who was a mechanic on British sports cars in the 1960's.
  11. Greetings. I need help identifying what vehicle this hood ornament would have come from. I inherited my father's toolbox in 1975 and this hood ornament was in it. I always thought it was cool and even mounted it on a Pontiac Sunbird in the eighties. I have subsequently mounted it on a wooden stand and display it in my living room. It was originally chromed but it wore off. I cleaned it to find it is made of brass. My father was a mechanic on British sports cars in the 60's, and immigrated here in the 50's. I think it's an eagle, but it could be any bird of prey. It's been driving my crazy, all these years. Please help.
