  1. Interesting the sign on the seat seems to say 1908. Tom
  2. Very nice collection, I very much enjoyed it. Tom
  3. Very nice museum, worth the trip. Tom
  4. As stated previously, by most fundamental definitions, a motor can be electric or IC. That being said, some have tried to further define that and define electric as motor and IC as engine. As with many words, people do define words differently. Although people defining words differently can be confusing, I accept it. This post’s topic is car lingo you hate. I do not hate it, but I feel it is, not sure the correct word, maybe condescending, when some point out to others the engine vs motor issue, as if the person calling the IC a motor is somehow ignorant of the topic. If someone wishes to make the distinction, fine, but that does not make the other wrong. IMO. Tom
  5. There are quite a few "lingos-you-hate" mentioned. Some I never heard of. But this I do not understand. Why would an internal engine NOT be called a motor? Hasn't it always been a motor and hasn't it always been called a motor? I have seldom or never heard: engine oil engine mounts engine city Ford engine company engine head (as in he is a motor head) etc. Why is "motor" amateurish? Help me out here Tom
  6. History does change words. Now we have half the answer. Thanks, Tom
  7. Why do we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway? tom
  8. Not that low gear is not low enough, but I believe reverse gear is lower than forward low. Tom
  9. I find it interesting that some care how the British pronounce the word. Do we pronounce Volkswagen the way the Germans do? And as some have stated, we do not all pronounce "American" words the same way. New Englanders often pronounce "car" different than the rest of the country. IMO, you are both correct. Tom
  10. Ron, the fact that I have this pamphlet after fifty years indicates I am a packrat and I do not like to part with stuff. However, I would be willing to try to get you something in some version. Maybe the original or maybe a good copy. I will PM you. Edit, I just tried to PM you but I cannot as I have not been on the forum enough. Are you able to PM me? Tom
  11. My mother grew up in Manheim. She had Paul Stern for a high school teacher. When our family was taking a ride in our Model T Ford one time in Manheim, I believe he helped us when we got stuck. Because of the common interest in cars, my father got to know him. I remember visiting at his house. He had all sorts of maps laid out on a table- he was preparing for the Hershey Flea Market. I remember the downtown museum. We were looking for storage for our Model T Ford and Paul said sure, he could use a Model T for display, so it was there for awhile. Later it was moved to his larger brick building somewhat behind the museum. He was quite an interesting man. Here is a copy of his museum pamphlet. Tom
  12. Ron, I see it was quite some time ago you made this post. I just found it recently. I live near where Gene Zimmerman's Automobilorama was. I had visited it many years ago and unfortunately I do not remember much. But I do have the tourist pamphlet for the Automobilorama. You will find a Kissel "Gold Bug" listed. Maybe it is yours? Tom
