  1. Wow. A hint of snow makes me think there may be a hint of ice. No chance I would try to ride a human powered unicycle in those conditions. Not that I could even get on one without hurting my newblies.
  2. That 1965 Chevelle he had was one of the 201 Z16 Chevelles built. Not sure about a convertible, think I saw there were only 2 of those built. A drag racer he was as well I believe.
  3. Nice GTO. That would be a hard one NOT to drive while waiting.
  4. Fuel line should be 3/8 for all Big Blocks. Can also crawl under and check for f41 suspension bits. Cant recall if that was a must have option on the SS454. Biggest sign of that is a brace from upper to lower front control arm mounts at the rear.
  5. I agree, having what can be done with the interior done at the same time would shorten the whole time the car is down. Some of the interior may be needed to be removed for some paint work as well. Body shops are dusty, and with interior partially or completely out also helps get it clean when done with paint.
  6. Street rod stuff. Non stock mounts. Probably set up as 4 link or ladder bar type suspension with a pan hard bar and set up for coil over shocks.
  7. The Corvette is pretty new for being a custom. Possible that it may have been or soon to be an important one in the hot rod world. And it just happen to be at the right place at the right time for that photo.
  8. And they look like mild customs. Local car club out for a cruise. Theres a club plate on left side rear of Chevy.
  9. Think it could be degrees of temperature instead of degrees of angle?
  10. Is the round profile opposite the degree scale concentric with the center bore? If not, could have a pointer at the scale, then when loosened and rotated, could move a bearing/pin on that surface to set referenced angle. Does that outer diameter show wear like it has been rotating againt a pin? Could be a sear for a vintage machine used in wood manufacuring. Something that would have to be reset often or on the fly. Cant explain the difference in scales other that a dual purpose or something that has somekind of 15* offset/difference.
  11. Weird that one side is 0-90 and the other is -15-75.
  12. Motor diven potters wheel is what I envision. A few bearings and a centered stud would work ok. Not to many RPMS and it might work. Good work height and horizontal. If your like me you know where every bit of McGyvering parts are located. At least you kinda remember where you saw them last
  13. Uncle Kenny had a '65 425hp/ 4spd Roadster. Blue w/white interior, factory knock offs and side pipes. Have been trying to locate it so I could hear some of the stories that went with it. Not looking to buy, just reaquaint for his sake. I remember well riding in back as we played hopscotch with my aunt Rosie when she was driving his ordered new '70 LS 5, 4spd. Ordered in primer and he painted it himself in Plum Crazy purple. Sure wish I could go back in time.
  14. As said, look for the best one that flips your boat. Find a good quality original/refurbished/restored one that speaks to you. That way you can drive/enjoy at your leisure and tackle issues that arise when they come along. Much easier to take care of small stuff then have to address large stuff when you are on a learning curve. Make contacts at those cars and coffee events and know that almost every one of them owners are in it for fun and do have passion. Even if they own something other than Mercury's. Most will lend a hand and help the newbies of the hobby succeed. And dont forget to come back here and update us. Lots of knowledge and passion here. Pretty much a nation wide/international decease that afflics a lot of us.
  15. Closest I will ever be to that kind of power was the time I got to stand at the start line at BIR when the Little Red Wagon made a few passes. Something that I will never forget. Even better was it was at night and those Titanium pads on the wheely bars put on one heck of a spark show.
  16. Every good Wheel Stander needs a Hemi in the trunk.
  17. One thing I have never been good at is putting a price on something. That being said, if I can get it to you and you like what you see, I will take what you think it is worth. One other option that is sometimes not seen much is a horse trade. For some reason I have been getting back into working on Quadrajet carburetors. I would be interested in a couple of clean un molested original non remanned cores or one real nice one. Either way wont matter. As long as it gets in the hands of someone who appreciates it, thats what counts. Thanks. Doug
  18. Really have no need for it. Closest thing to a Peerless I have might be my kitchen faucet. Anyone need/want it? I will be making a road trip for work in a couple monthes from central Minnesota to Bethehem,Pa. Could meet anyone somewhere along 94,90 or 80.
  19. Picked this up yesterday just for the Peerless logo. I have searched and found similar, but not quite the same. I understand Buckeye made all kinds and the same style as this could be used for other brands with a side plate change. Can anyone help narrow it down to a year range and possible model? Thank you. Doug
  20. So with just minimal fire fighting equiptment on the Battleship, that could be the first'first responder'. At least one of the first.
  21. H.A.M.B has now added a new section to the forums for off topic subjects. Once a hot rodder always a hot rodder no matter what era. Might be helpfull.
  22. If by chance you have seen a license plate, drop by NAPA. Not sure what info they can provide, but depending on state, license plate is tied more to owner than vehicle.
  23. I see a second belt driving something off main driven 'mandrel'. Looks like it is hooked to something not in line with roller. Variable drive? If a coiler, main mandrel driven shaft would turn faster(rpms)than wheel that may be driving spool OD. And would change speed as coil of whatever increases in diameter.
  24. Looks like some kind of coiler or uncoiler for solid small round stock. Think 1/4, 3/8 Hot rolled steel. Not beefy enough for that. Maybe for coiling wire or cable. Looks like that loop would be a guide for wire coming off or on a spool.
  25. Modern track maintenace equiptment uses the same thing. We have built 18000# frames that pick themselves up and turn around. Mind you thats just the frame weight so much more added and really not a hand crank to do it.
