  1. They list it as correct for the 66 Toro. The transmission shifts fine, but shutters mildly in first into second.
  2. Definitely the torque converter. The shop owner who I normally deal with has been out for a week and his staff havent been that great about passing along info. I ordered a rebuilt one from Florida Torque Converter which should be the direct replacement for the THM425. Should be here by next Monday and the car hopefully done in two weeks.
  3. So shifting is fine. I even had her up to 90 on the highway. Occasional mild vibration but no other issues. Seems to shutter and slightly whine in first.
  4. Welp they didnt fully fix it. Still has a slight whine in first and doesnt seem as punchy. Any ideas? Fluid was switched with the filter. The whine is faint but still there.
  5. No it was on the car and fried out last summer. Easy fix but I'm glad its not the transmission. The 59 needs a rebuild soon so spending 8k on trans rebuilds etc was not an option.
  6. Update. The transmission and torque converter were fine. The AC compressor clutch was completely shot and causing the noise. After a trans flush, etc she's all ready to go. Thanks for all the input!
  7. My shop said that the shutter and whine was very noticeable in first. Quiets down a bit in second. This just popped out of the blue and the fluid is full. It will even whine in park now.
  8. I'm hoping its not that badly damaged. It occured locally and I didnt drive her more than 3 miles before she went in for service. All speeds were 45 and below. Rather not have to spend 4-5k to rebuild a transmission thats already been rebuilt.
  9. Torque converter is failing. When the transmission was rebuilt in 2016 they reused the original one because the owner didnt want to pay 400 dollars for it...
  10. Follow up- based on receipts she had a full rebuild of her transmission in 2016. Fluid hasnt been changed since then.
  11. So this evening I decided to take the Toro out for a spin. In first gear she seems to slip a bit and then she started making a whining noise under acceleration but it would quiet down in second gear. When I got back she seems to whine even in neutral but not quite in park. She was fine just last week with no issues. Fluid seems topped off but perhaps a bit thin? Whats going on?
  12. So it appears that my original vacuum lines have finally started to either leak or fall apart. Not bad for 57 years! In any case I'm looking for the following: Brake booster vacuum line (GM marked or correctly date coded. Currently using a NAPA replacement fuel line of the same diameter as a stop-gap measure) Climate control vacuum lines (these along with others appear to be color coded. Does anyone make these?) Factory correct vacuum hose clamps If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful
  13. Very pretty but how about some engine, trunk, and interior photos?
  14. I have a few extra Toro parts which were given to me as part of my 1959 sale. I have no need for the parts and I'm looking to give them to someone who could use them. All you need to do is pay for shipping. I have the following parts: 1 set of tail lenses (okay but serviceable shape) 1 set of headlight vacuum canisters 1 box of miscellaneous parts (relays, bushings, etc) Let me know if you're interested and I'll post photos.
  15. Patience and perseverance. They're out there just gotta look. 😎
  16. I'll tackle it in the spring. I had her detailed last weekend and boy does she shine! Not bad for 64 year old paint!
  17. The original master cylinder works well if its been rebuilt/serviced properly. My 57 had a nasty habit of pulling to the right and also I had to pump the brakes once before I gained any pressure. Turns out that the lines need to be bled in a specific pattern otherwise you'll run into issues.
  18. Both sides will need to be patched. One side to a lesser degree but the drivers side is all the way through in a section about 1 1/2 inches by 4 inches. its not terrible but its noticeable. Does anyone have a source for the corrected gauge steel so I can get this patched over the winter?
  19. It sold via Ebay but I'm waiting for the buyer to send me a check. Hopefully that happens this week.
  20. Car arrives later this week so I'll be able to gauge how bad it is. I'll post pictures when that happens.
  21. So my new 59 has the common rust through on the lower front fenders. Does anyone recommend a patch panel or should I opt to just find some fenders?
  22. Sold pending full payment. Going to another Buick collector.
  23. Congrats on the sale and fixing the heating issue. I know the 67 will run 190-200 when its 110 outside but I've been told thats normal lol.
